We stopped by after hiking Peňa hoping to grab a couple sandwiches and head out to watch the game, but let me back up a bit Diggers Deli is near & dear to my heart. Some of my earliest memories are going to the deli with my mom & sister. I even remember what we would order. A cold cut combo and soup of the day. It was the best So today, I was excited to share this nostalgia with my friend. As soon as we walked in I was pleasantly surprised to see beer on tap and I said, "Oh look they have IPA's". I sat down, ( mind you I just got done hiking 6 miles ) and was looking at the menu and whomever was behind the counter, looked behind her shoulder because she had her back turned to us and said, "If you're going to order a sandwich, you have to do it at the register". Not a hello or a welcome in or a smile or anything but I said, "That's fine". She proceeded to write down I don't know what for another five minutes or so and I just didn't feel welcomed in there. The vibe was just off so we left. We went to Safeway and got our sandwiches. It was just really sad that a place can change so much. I would suggest to the owner that you reevaluate your staff and remind them about the quality and the hospitality you say is important to you. It's been a while since I been here, came back and it's just as great as before if not better. Very busy wait I recommend ordering ahead or calling ahead if possible to save the wait. It was very busy inside but all the workers check in on you and make sure everything is going well. I'm a big fan of sprouts and love that they offer that in their menu. read more

I absolutely love diggers deli Their sandwiches are the best with that being said I am very disappointed in their potato salad. I have come here many times just for the potato salad. It reminds me of the Stars potato salad. But this time it had very large chunks of cooked potatoes. Not like it was in the past where there were very small chunks. The flavor is there, but the consistency is not. I don't know if they're trying a new recipe or it is a new cook. I also had a small portion of their pasta salad. There was absolutely no flavor. First time I've ever tried the pasta salad. I know my pasta salad is full of flavor, but theirs was very lacking. yes I could make my own pasta salad, but I wanted to try theirs because everything else there is so good. My Maple turkey sandwich on sweet roll was really good. The right amount of mayo and fresh roll. Since added cheese cost extra I would have like a thicker slice and make it double. Amount of meat was satisfying since I'm not a meat lover. Friendly staff. Nice ambiance! read more

As I walked in to check this place out. I was like ok they have a lot of in door seating and a small bar at the counter but not sure if they even use the bar area. Looks like some outdoor seating as well. There was no line I was the only one buying a sandwich but never got greeted properly as I seen two girls towards the back by the kitchen area, so it was kind of disappointed specially because there was nobody in there, and you would think they would want my business. I did happen to see a sandwich I wanted to try. So I got some kind of chicken sandwich. They do serve hot and cold sandwiches so that was a great option for me since that day it was cold out. They have chips, and cold drinks and beer to if that is something you want to drink. The chicken sandwich was very good I would definitely try it again or even something else. I purchased the sandwich and a bag of chips. It was a little expensive for my taste which came out to I think like $20. So if you are looking to get a sandwich make sure you're good at paying that price. Walked in to buy a sandwich immediately got a weird stench from the place. There was no customers at lunchtime and then I asked to use the restroom after deciding not to buy a sandwich and was told I had to purchase something and be a customer in order to use the restroom. This is a place I consider a hidden gem in Vacaville. Locally owned and amazing sandwiches. I like how I can call ahead so if I'm on the go, my sandwich will be ready for me when I get there. The ingredients always taste fresh and there is a lot of variety and options of what you can get on your sandwich. They also have a great selection of grab and go veggie trays, fruit, and other sides. Employees are always friendly and it's a very laid-back environment. My review is based on a take out order using Door Dash. I am giving a 3 star review because prior to the delivery, one employee called to let us know that they didn't have one ingredient that was listed in the sandwich. Above and beyond customer service is rare these days. One side dish that came with my sandwich was deviled egg; it was great. The ingredients in the sandwiches were fresh and in sufficient quantity. What was lacking was the quality of the bread in both my sandwich and my daughter's. It took the pleasure out of eating. Came in - wasn't greeted- not one time was I acknowledged by the man working behind the counter- I stood at the counter for 5 minutes- until the man finally asked me what I would like to order- mind you it wasn't busy at all there were two other customers sitting down - waiting on there order- I asked him if they had those devil eggs - and if so were are they located - he said idk whatever is in there- um okay where? So I kept looking around I found the macaroni salad- under neath was the devil eggs - at least five of them - I had already paid for my sandwich and salad ( tiny two three bite macaroni salad) so I looked up at the board & seen the price for a devil egg $3.69 so I had counted out the exact cash- & told him here is the money for the devil egg - I found them I said there is a lot in there - basically I was being sarcastic- I even gave him a tip and put in there wooden box- even though when customer service is not good - I'll still leave a tip - because I'm just a good person like that- after getting my small roast beef sandwich- that was made soo poorly and small macaroni salad and devil egg- I've decided never to go back there and give them my money again- no customer service- over priced sandwiches & salad- than come to find out I was over charged for my devil egg- wow! read more

They have a great menu of sandwiches and you can of course choose your own adventure. Lots of sides, chips, candy, refreshments, and beer to choose from (local and mainstream beers available). Yiiiikes. We travel through this area often. I try to give a spot at least 3 tries before leaving a review. This visit, we waited 28 minutes for a $7 pbj, a $7 grilled cheese sandwich, and a $14 vegetarian sandwich. The prices on the board are apparently not current. They also charged an extra fee for takeout, which likely would have been less aggravating if we weren't stuck there for half an hour waiting for 3 simple and horribly overpriced kids sandwiches. We went in knowing they were overpriced, but wanted to support small business. For all three visits, we had an insane wait time, the wrong order once, and inconsistent pricing. I've been going to Diggers Deli for years. The food is very good quality and the sandwiches are delicious. The sandwiches may seem a bit pricier than other places but you can tell that they use quality ingredients so it makes sense.. you get what you pay for. The employees and service are nice/good but sometimes it feels like you, as the customer, are a bit of an inconvenience. Not sure if that's just when they're busy or not but it leaves a little room for improvement. The ambiance is nice, it's always clean in the restaurant with plenty of space for seating indoor and there are some seats outside as well. The main reason I'm giving 3 stars is because I often call in orders and make minor adjustments such as "no tomato, add pepperoncinis" and it is very common for them to still add tomato. I know it may not seem like a big deal but sometimes the tomatoes are runny and get all over the sandwich, which really affects the meal. It just feels like the customizations are not really paid attention to and with the higher price that I'm paying, it can really be a let down when it's not done the way I asked for it. The setting was like a farm style ambiance which is very Vacaville. As for the food, sauces and cheese are considered add ons to the sandwiches which are $1 in comparison to other sandwich shops which is already included. The sandwiches were very basic and average.
