Actually the best I've seen and I've been to many Paneras in MA. Not sure what all the one star reviews are about, but I think they are way off. Everything was fresh and really delicious. I'm very disappointed on how this establishment went down hill with not just its food but service too. I ordered the caprese sandwich, it was mostly arugula. One piece of mozzarella cheese and you could barley see the tomato on the bread. Then I ordered a turkey BLT avacado. I get the BLT,the bread isn't toasted and the bacon is cold! I've never had a BLT served to me with my bacon cold or my bread not toasted. Overall most staff are pleasant, but there are a couple who are just rude to customers and try to rush them on. Mistakes are common with drive-thru orders so be sure to check your order before leaving. Managers work very hard there and deserve better pay and recognition. They added toppings that were supposed to be left off of 3 different salads and sandwiches, mixed up drink sizes, gave someone bread when they were supposed to have fruit, gave us the wrong sides, and didn't put in near enough plastic ware. The chicken in the Caesar salad was dry and didn't have much flavor. So glad they gave us 3 loaves of baguettes though, because that totally made up for it. Not. I got excited when Panera bread opened in Derry, but shortly afterwards my excitement met with disappointment. Panera bread like any fast food chain, uses their latest marketing techniques that is solely based on targeting the consumer's pocket. And they do that by giving you a great looking building, creating a nice atmosphere and making you feel that you're in an upscale environment and that you're getting your money's worth by developing a unique menu. But the only thing that is unique about the menu is the name of the sandwiches and salads. They think that by having an attractive building and a nice menu is enough to capture the market. But what about the most important ingredient that brings business!!! "customer service." I used to go to Panera Bread every week. That used to be my favorite destination regardless of the cost of food. I enjoyed the nice and attentive customer service. Then I started to see new faces almost every few weeks to a point that they could not keep some of them more than 2-3 weeks at a time. Early 2017, the service got bad. The employees clearly lacked training, guidance and common sense. You would go there and wait in line for at least five minutes, till one of the seven employees feels bad for you and asks you if you need anything. As if that was not enough, the sandwiches started having less and less ingredients in them. So I decided to stop going to the one in Derry and go to the one in Manchester hoping it's better. But I was wrong. A Brazilian / Portuguese lady with a very bad attitude waited on me. "I learned afterwards that she was the manager", treated in such a bad manner as if she got more important things to do then at least taking a customer's order. She had this really serious, scary look on her face, you can tell that she doesn't smile much. At that moment I decided to give Panera Bread a break. Forward to April 2018, I made a mistake and decided to go back to the Derry location. I walked in there and was the only one waiting at the register. The girl's waited on me her name's Taylor, she was very nice but she lacked everything else. From concentration, to speed, to common sense. It took over five minutes to order a sandwich and a big mistake when I added a bagel to my order. It took her about 40 sec... to put on the gloves and then she grabbed the tongs to get the bagel. Why do you need to wear gloves if you going to use tongs to grab a bagel? (Here's your sign). When I looked behind me there was no less than 15 people waiting. I felt bad and started to rush her to pay for my order but she did not care at all. She kept going at the same slow pace as if there was nobody in the whole store but me. When I did a quick scan of the place, I saw 7 people behind the prep food area !!! So all these employees and the bathroom needed attention, the tables needed cleaning, the soda area needed restocking and some of the coffee pots were empty. So I came to the conclusion that the manager not doing his / her job and the place is an organized chaos. And to my surprise when I went to pick up my sandwich it turned out that the same scary lady manager from Manchester is working there now . So on top of the heart attack that I got from seeing her, she did not put enough chicken in my sandwich. Their prices are outrageous. I end up paying $9.29 for a sandwich that had little bits of chicken in it as if it came from a can. And forget about their drive through unless you have a Half a day to kill. It will take you no less than 30 minutes if your lucky to get your order. I suggest before you do that is to stop by Dunkin' Donuts, get a cup of coffee and a sandwich to get you through the drive through. One time it took me 56 minutes because a lady in front of me ordered for her and 4 kids. I know for a fact that other places put a limit on what you can order through the drive through. My advice to you is don't get fooled by the image. You can make much better food at home and enjoy it. read more

Fabiola was BEYOND accommodating for me during lunch rush. My gift card was old- wasn't able to be processed with their new system and it didn't provide a pin so I would have to call and figure it out that way. She helped me understand this and was able to provide our meals to us. She went over the top with customer service and was so caring and friendly. You can tell she knows what she's doing and as a general manager she is the type of employee you want to keep around. Thank you fabiola for making our Saturday way better than it started. This place is not cheap. I spent $35 on 2 sandwiches and a bowl of soup, I atleast expect better than cheap fast food service. I ordered the roasted turkey avocado blt. Both had no avocado, skimpy little bits of turkey, the bread was old and dry, and the didn't add any basil as requested. The girl in the drive thru acted like that was a weird requested and it seemed like she was just humoring me because I'm just a drive thru order and will be gone before I notice. This isn't my 1st bad experience here. The time before this I ordered the same sandwich and the avocado was there but far from ripe,hard, with skin still on it. I started only getting this particular sandwich because they skimp on the meat on all the other sandwiches even when I pay for extra. I've spent hundreds if not thousands giving this place a chance over and over as if it was that gf you love but keeps giving you reasons to leave her for good. Im done. We usually love Panera, even if it is overpriced. However, last time we ordered through the app for rapid pick up and they were out of all kinds of bread which made it a little difficult to order. Finally place it, head in to pick up 10 minutes after the allotted time, food isn't on pick up shelf. So we wait...and wait...food still doesn't come. Employees see us waiting, say nothing. After about 10 min I wander up to the counter and ask. They tell me it is being held because they have a question about bread...no rolls left, do we want something else? Sort it out, get it home, smoothies are melted from sitting for 20+ minutes, soup is cold. The roll they were out of and held the order for is IN THE BOTTOM OF THE BAG. So they held it for no reason. Then, to add insult to injury, the chicken ceasar salad is filled halfway. So it's a side salad, not an entree. The manager was about 15 and clearly overwhelmed, but that is no excuse. This is likely the first and last time I'll go to this location... I've been a fan of Panera for 12 years, often driving 30-40 minutes to get my "fix" before you guys had a real presence in New Hampshire; even after being diagnosed with Celiac's, I've stayed a fan for the Chai and other items I can still enjoy. This location? Worst customer service I've both experienced and observed at a PB location anywhere. With a minimal crowd at 9am on a Thursday (there was no one waiting for ordered items, four cars in the lot), I stood there while five different employees milled around behind the counter. Not one of them was interested in taking my order. Four minutes passed, and there were now four others waiting to order behind me. "Can I take an order? Who's first? I have no idea which one of you is first." Not an apology or a friendly word--just brass tacks and obvious incompetence. After I received my half-filled chai, I was walking out, and heard two separate people politely complaining (if there is such a thing) as well... One was about their order, and another, who had made use of the online order, was detailing (patiently and politely) how this was the third time she's used it for this location, and every time, the order has been late and incorrect. The environment is nice, but it's clear that I'm not the only one dissatisfied by the personnel and their failure to a) complete their tasks effectively and b) be nice. I've worked in the service industry, and yes, it's not the highlight of anyone's career--people can be rude and wrong, and even mean... but I'm a firm believer in doing your job well. Being stuck in a New England nor'easter with nothing more than a 4 wheel drive truck for transportation and shelter, serving my country in the military can be very trying without a house to go to. Panera Bread in Derry is where they welcome me with open arms and enjoy my company without question. On this particular day, I was feeling especially vulnerable and came in just looking for a warm cup of coffee and an egg sandwich to sooth my soul. The manager, Fabiola, immediately offered to brew a new pot of coffee for me if I'm going to be sticking around. She couldn't see the impact it made to me where I'm required to put on a tough guy mask for my country but, I welled up, sat down and ate my sandwich and drank my hot coffee with tears of joy in my heart. It's people like this that make me happy to spend over $6,000 a year at these establishments. Whomever reads this, please congratulate her for being such a good soul. The stress level of line workers is beyond tolerable, management allows inappropriate behaviour (name calling, petty violence, even mild assaults) and very little gets done. Just ate at Panera for the first time. It's one of my girlfriends favorite places to go, and she was craving it so I took her. I hadn't eaten anything yet so I decided to try it. I ended up getting the Four Cheese Grilled Cheese. At the price it was marked I was expecting the best damn sandwich I had ever had and instead I was given a microwaved piece of plastic. The bread was hard as a rock and the cheese tasted like rubbery Mexican four cheese. I have no doubt that the cheese was stale, it tasted foul.
