We continue to return regularly to Amphora, especially for the Gyros. Because we enjoy the appetizers, I usually just get a sandwich, husband will get the dinner. New favorite appetizer is the Saganaki (hot cheese platter) served with season pita bread - delish! Stay away. No quality control in the kitchen The food was inedible. Not fresh, just exceptionally bad. The steak souvlaki was over marinated and too salty and fatty. I could not eat it. My friend's antipasto salad was soggy and piled high and unappetizing . Even the pita was soggy and over seasoned. We waited for a while for a table on a Friday night, which is to be expected. I have been going to amphora for a while and stopped when they raised their prices and lowered their portions. We moved closer recently and wanted to give them another try. I placed a pick up order, gave a large tip, and when I got home, I was missing parts of my meals. I called the restaurant and told them I didn't want to drive back but would appreciate being credited the amount that was missing. The person on the phone did not put me on hold so I heard the whole conversation and was told they would have to wait until the end of the night to refund me. Then I was told it could take up to 3-5 business days. No problem. It's been 9 and no refund. read more

Delicious. Lovely staff. Comfortable room with some very nice artwork. Party of five on Sunday afternoon. Thracian chicken is perfect. Moist with herbs and spices. Also enjoyed lamb and beef. Save room for dessert if possible. I thoroughly enjoyed my time here and so did my family. read more

Just had lunch at Amphora. It was delicious. We had the taziki appetizer with warm seasoned pita. Very refreshing and tasty. The Gyro dinner came with a fresh salad, more warm pita, and rice pilaf with peppers and peas. The gyro itself was very good. Our server, who was also the bartender, mixed excellent expresso martinis. Her service was attentive without being intrusive. During a recent trip to Derry, our hosts suggested Amphora for dinner. Liked the food so much, we went back a second time. Highlights were the Thracian Chicken and the Psari-Sto-Filo, both of which were well prepared and served piping hot. The Pastitsio could have used a bit more seasoning. Also enjoyed the Saganaki and Hummus appetizers. Service at our table was excellent, service at the bar the second night was a bit slow. The atmosphere was low key and inviting, a step above most of the Greek restaurants I've frequented. Extensive wine list, but a few more draft beer selections would be welcomed. read more

First visit in YEARS, food and service were very good. The haddock in filo was a hit, the spanakopita was good but not enough feta. Luckily, there was so much crumbled feta on my delicious feta fries, I was able to remedy that. The other couple we were with had a gyro dinner and moussaka and enjoyed both. The only miss was the chicken Avgolémino Soup. Tasted like thickened canned chicken soup with lemon. Broad menu, nice bar area - will try that next time. read more

"This is it. This is perfect! This is just what you wanted, isn't it?!" That's what I was thinking to myself upon finally trying my very first complete entrée here at Amphora. Many of you may recall my last visit here when I sampled some tasty pita bread in a cheese sauce and the best damned fried feta cheese on this side of New England. So, tonight....I tried the Thracian Chicken Sandwich (which is actually a pita, but whatever). This thing was easily the best chicken gyro I've tasted for miles! It's even better than the one I get in Nashua (can't remember the name of the place though). From the charbroiled chicken pieces to the seasoning to the freshly cut veggies and yogurt sauce, this pita wrap tasted like the stuff that only dreams are made of. Let's discuss these fries though. Bruh. Bruh! Like....have you ever...? Could you imagine...? *soft exhale* Okay. Lemme carefully explain how awesome these things are.. These fries are so good, they made me wanna write an updated review for this entire restaurant. These fries are so good, they could offer world peace to everyone who so much as tastes these beauties. These fries could probably cure cancer. Point is....every single new menu item I sampled tonight was a solid 10 out of 10. If you don't know how rare that is, it happens about as often as getting mauled by a polar bear and a regular bear in the same day. No doubt about it, Amphora receives 5 chicken pitas charred and seasoned to perfection out of 5. read more

We stopped by here on our way back to MA after a day of skiing, and glad that we did! The restaurant is casual and inviting. The staff was extremely friendly. Our waitress was so pleasant and gave us great recommendations. The food was great. We got the dip sampler, which wasn't on the menu and glad that we did as we were debating between two, but got to sample all 4! You can't go wrong with the tzatziki and hummus. The Kopanisti was very salty, as expected from feta cheese. The melitzanosalta was also a bit salty. The gyro plate was delicious! We also got the lamb shank which was so flavorful and tender. The eggplant frites were a bit oily, but a nice change from your typical fries. For dessert, we tried the galaktoboureko for the first time (waitress also said it was her favorite), and none was left to be spared. It's a pie-like dessert, with custard that reminds me of the rice pudding (rizogalo) in filo pastry. We would definitely return if we were ever back in the area. read more

We used to be regulars here but after moving to Tucson we are finally back for a visit. The food is as great as we remembered. Most great restaurants in Tucson are very chain restaurants like. Amphora is very unique and creative. The salads are fresh and delicious. The appetizers add some variety to the meal and the service is excellent and makes you feel like family. Others must agree because the place has expanded with live music. Do yourself a favor and plan a visit with friends and you will be the hero of the night! read more

I have been coming here for a few years now and the food is consistently delicious, the waitstaff is always wonderful. I eat here every time I am in the area. The last two times we have been Linda has waited in us and she is the BEST! Friendly, kind, efficient- couldn't ask for better and she made the experience of fantastic food even better. Pretty good greek option in Derry. Nice ambiance inside with a long bartop and hightop chairs. Very friendly waitstaff. Helped a buddy move today and he repaid me with dinner. We ordered Spanikopita, Fried Feta, & pita and tsaziki apps that were great. That Fried Feta is unbelievably good but six 1" squares of feta left me wishing for a larger sample size. Ha. The Tsaziki and Pita is a great combo. Both were stellar. Then we ordered Greek and caesar salads. The greek salads come with much much less feta than other greek restaurants i visit so i was surprised. Also no pepperoncinis on the salad and the dressing comes on the salad when served. Im a dressing fiend but the supplied amount was just enough to get by without pestering the waitstaff for more. It was not your normal greek dressing, not as tangy, but still tasty. 4 big hunks of pita on top was a nice touch but the salads werent out of this world. Then the Thracian chicken sandwich. Its a nice chunk of white meat chicken covered in seasoning and put in a full pita with lettuce, onion, tomato and tsaziki sauce. Thats the best deal at $10. My buddy ordered a falafel wrap $12.50, and loved it. I would 100% return but i do have another favorite nh greek restaurant that ill revisit first in Hampton. read more

First time in Derry NH and selected this place on a whim. Everything was SO delicious; we couldn't get over how crispy and flavorful the fries were with a soft inside. My wife and I had a lovely dinner at Amphora due to conscientious staff and delicious food. The European ambiance suits this Greek restaurant and contributes to an environment that encourages conversation and relaxation. My tasty vegetable Kabob dinner consisted of two loaded spears of multi-colored grilled vegetables, from red and green peppers to green and yellow zucchini and squash, with a good measure of mushrooms and onions for earthy balance. The lemon-oregano potatoes were equally delicious, although a bit salty. Both dishes tasted fresh and were not oily or greasy (I had requested little to no oil). My wife thoroughly enjoyed her Moussaka, and thought the house Red was adequate (she's an avid wine club member and has high expectations.) We would return again if in the area. read more

We enjoyed them but we were surprised the dolmades were served cold. The meals were delicious but the pastitsio portion was quite small for $17.00. Dessert was delicious .... Again small portions except for the ouzo cake. We felt very rushed by the waitress. The entire meal was over $200.00 with no alcoholic beverages. It would have been nice to be able to sit & relax after the meal but the waitress seemed to want us to move even though no one was waiting! Bar area looked lovely. I need to update my review as I had recently gotten take out from there again and my experience wasn't the same. I got the Thracian chicken pita (same as before) and my mom got the lamb tip pita (also the same as before) and both were not nearly as good. My chicken had almost no flavor and was over charred/cooked. They also only gave me two measly pieces in the entire pita, that was disappointing. The lamb was plentiful but most of the tips were chewy. We ordered legit the second they opened up at 12 (on Sunday), so I don't know if they used old chicken for mine from the day before or what. But it was definitely not nearly the same from when we ordered from over the summer. The tzatziki was exactly the same, they probably do that in fairly large batches I'm guessing. Decided I would try this restaurant as I've lived in Derry my whole life but haven't tried it yet. I heard the Thracian chicken sandwich was good so I went online to place my order. I asked for the yogurt sauce on the side because I wasn't sure if I'd like it. & I paid $2.00 to add feta. I was excited to try it I went to pick it up and the lady confirmed "the chicken wrap with feta" and I said yes. I went to eat the sandwhich and there was no feta nor any of the yogurt sauce that I wanted to try that comes with it. Just disappointing when ordering something and doesn't come out as it's suppose to especially when you're charged extra for things you don't get. I will say though, even without some of those things the sandwhich did have good flavor. The chicken was really tasty. read more

Good Greek food,FINALLY!! I emailed them to see if they had gluten free options before going. The owner, Peter, answered me within the hour. He was very informative and yes, they have gluten free options! When we arrived we were seated immediately. Our server was efficient and pleasant. Peter came over to the table and mentioned a chocolate cake that was flourless that he was working on. If they have it when you come, get it! Amazing!
