Updating my review since I ate a turkey wrap. Very tasty and fresh but MPO over-priced for what you get. The bakery wasn't as good as the past few decades. Not sure if something is different? Seemed like items changed? I felt just okay about the selection but more importantly the flavor didn't impress me like it used to. Cream in the whoopi was hard and sugary. The service was fine but could have been friendlier. It's not a game changer it's more of a question mark. Not impressed. I stopped in to grab some treats for coworkers and left with an expensive bag of disappointment, cupcakes were dry and very light on flavor. Cookies were a very nice size but also kind of dry and not exactly bursting with flavor. Such a shame this place used to be so good. read more

Soooo disappointed!! Came for brunch only to discover there's no table service. Actual print menus were hard to find. Dining room tables were sticky and the dining room was hot. Won't come again. And all this before we even tasted the food. Won't try this again. And definitely not a place I would recommend for a Sunday brunch. read more

I gave it 1 year and came back to this place today, but nothing has changed. I used to love this place and I once loved their tuna sandwiches before the new ownership. Just a thought, but if you're going to sell half of a tuna sandwich for $7, maybe put more tuna than lettuce in the sandwich. If you keep doing it the way you're doing it, then it should be called a Lettuce wrap. Also please label that there is BACON in your broccoli and cheese twice baked potatoes. Not all of us eat bacon, and when one stuffed potato is $8, people have a right to know what they're eating. I couldn't eat the potato as it was mainly bacon, and even if there wasn't any, it just wasn't good. It was flavorless and I'm not the only one who thinks so. My friend who eats bacon tried it and wasn't impressed at all. A year ago I had to return a few very expensive pies because they were flavorless. What a let-down! I may have just seen the most appalling customer service I've ever seen. After trying to place a catering order online with their terrible portal, we called to ask some very basic questions regarding allergies and were addressed by one woman who refused to give her name or answer the most basic question about food and allergy safety. After being put on hold multiple times, Rachel, the alleged owner got on the phone and proceeded to admonish my wife about "attitude" mind you this is after twenty minutes of trying to get one question answered. What happened???? Most restaurants have recovered from Covid but Black Forest did not I guess. So very sad. Used to take my Mom there as a special treat. Now the dining room that once had white table cloths looks like a store room, leak stained ceilings, dirty windows, damaged naked tables with napkins stuck under the legs to keep them from rocking, crumbs all over the floor. Sandwiches were good but served with warmed up fried potatoes. No beer worth drinking and some wine for sale that we could see. Landscaping around the building? None. Looked like it was going to close. Want to end on a positive note, scones were very good and two young men waiting on us were helpful, even seemed apologetic. We felt sorry for them. I've heard some positive comments about this cafe. I was disappointed with both the lunch quality and the bakery items. We ordered a sandwich and a breakfast entree. Both were mediocre at best and came with reheated, dried up, overcooked breakfast potatoes that obviously were made hours before. The dining room is rundown and not very clean and the bathrooms are deplorable. There is absolutely no ambiance. We took home a few bakery items. None of them were good and they tasted old and dry. Went here to try again as we did not have a good experience. Looks like maybe under new management. Seems to be cafeteria style where you order and they will deliver to you. The food was good but expensive for just a breakfast burrito. I'm not sure what they're going for, but it would make for a quick lunch tog go. I have never been disappointed here except when an item was sold out. Everything is delicious! The cronuts are light, flaky and perfectly glazed. Their scones are delicious and unique flavors. Cookies are huge and soft and so full of flavor. There is nothing in the bakery that isn't worth trying. As far as the restaurant, I've eaten dinner and lunch and been happily satisfied every time. Food is delicious and not the regular boring fare. It all has a unique twist to it and is served with friendly service I. A clean dining room. Definitely recommend Black Forest. read more

First time eating in cafe. The space is margarita many tables bright and funny inside. The menu is one large menu with breakfast on one side and lunch options of the other. Appeared to be only one waitress but that was ok because it was not busy. I had spinach and feta three egg omelette, which was very good. Made with fresh spinach and came with bread of choice, I had a biscuit, which was quite large and toasted. I also got pan fries. My daughter got a wrap. Both were very good. read more

I have been by this place many times and always at the wrong time. This Saturday my wife and I made it for breakfast.She ordered the avocado toast with a scrambled egg and ordered o the lunch menu and got the Ruben sandwich which came with home fries. This was probably the best Ruben I have had, the bread was very good along with the sauerkraut which was excellent. The home fries were very tasty. My wife also enjoyed her breakfast but not as much as I did mine. read more

Been sold and new owners got rid of many of our favorite items. There is no longer a restaurant! You purchase your item from bakery area and bring it to the old table in closed restaurant. Used to go there often, cupcakes taste like they have been baked, frozen, defrosted. Stopped going because of the stale/frozen taste. If you get something gluten free, make sure it's in a separate container from stuff with gluten, as they'll try to put them together. Kinda defeats the purpose of gluten free. You order at the counter from either regular menu items that you can enjoy in the dining room or you can get wraps and breakfast sandwiches from the deli counter to go. This will be our regular breakfast/lunch stop when driving down to college in Worcester because you can take more or less time as suites. read more

The ordering process and the service were lacking which could have been a result of not having enough of staff. First the sandwich came and our soup came almost 20 minutes after the sandwich arrived. I had lunch here today. Not a lot of choices of restaurants in this area and I haven't been here in awhile so I thought I'd try it again. (Marketplace) Everything has red onions and/or peppers (can't eat) and had to ask the staff if there was anything without them. He said yah! The kitchen likes their peppers and red onions. So I got a turkey bacon wrap ($6.99 for 1/2 a sandwich) a bag of wrap city chips, lemon lavender sandwich cookie and raspberry lime Rickey. So I have to say the only thing that was good was the chip. The sandwich was small for the price and tasted old (they are pre made) the cookie's filling tasted like artificial lemon crisco and was over baked on one side of the cookie. The raspberry lime Rickey had a funny taste that I can't put my finger on. Like it is made with tonic and not soda but not sure. The man who helped me was nice and helpful and did his job just fine. I did call them to voice my opinion on the meal and he said sorry about that and I'll pass the information on the the kitchen... I know what that means, I will not tell anyone and the almost $20.00 you spent is not really worth your opinion. I'm disappointed, because like I said, there is not a lot of places to eat in this area and I work close by. The place is well kept and clean but it is like the owners don't care on what people think so that the employees do not take the initiative to make things right. Came here on a whim when traveling home. The sign said comfort food and it definitely sounded appealing. They start off by giving you a French loaf with basil butter. Can we say YUM! Next off they brought vegetables with a dipping sauce while we waited for our food. Equally delicious. My son had the children's pizza, I had the seafood crapes, and my hunny had the burger. Everything was amazing. The seafood crapes are a definite MUST. It came with an arugula salad and each bite was better than the previous. Onto dessert.... our waitress came over with a tray to showcase. My son tried to remove the chocolate cake with his hands..... hilarious. We split a baileys while chocolate mousse cake and a chocolate mousse cake. Both were decadent and delicious. This might be my new spot worth driving to. Please give this place a shot! read more

I hadn't been the Black Forest since I moved away a few years back and was looking forward to tasting some of their yummy food once again. I was quite surprised. The place looked run down. There was no hostess around. Someone finally came out and told me it would be a 15 minute wait so I sat in the entry Folks came and left being ignored by everyone that worked there. The dining room was mostly empty with most of the tables still waiting to cleaned. I said to my friend that " This could be an episode of Kitchen Nightmare.... Were is Gordon Ramsey" I asked? I hung around for about an hour. More people leaving without being helped. I had enough and final I left. The Artisan Chicken Sandwich was very good; THE HOMEMADE BUN WAS TO DIE FOR. Awful does not even begin to describe the food experience this morning at Black Forest. Ordered eggs bene. Food arrived and immediately could see something wasn't right about the "sauce". Tasted it and it was oil. Asked server to please take a look. He said it looked like it had separated. Came back from the kitchen and said the Chef said it had soaked into the muffin so he added more sauce. (!!! So bad on top of bad!!) It was oil, which an hour later is still coating my tongue. Told the server, who made it clear he did not care. I told him I was leaving it on the table and would like my money returned. No apology , he didn't come retrieve the yuck, and didn't bring my money back. I finally walked the plate to the "manager". She said "lots of people like it" !!! I said "you don't understand. Something is wrong with it!!! Why do I have to feel like I'm being a "Karen" when I got not apology I promised I would never be back and I won't!!!
