My husband and I tried three donut shops during our visit to Manchester, and this was the place we liked second-best. There were so many beautiful donuts from which to choose. The service was so friendly. It was fun to see all the local arts and crafts on sale. The place was the appropriate amount of busy for a weekend morning. I'm a little torn about this review. Normally I would give this charming location a four out of five stars. The reason for the star deduction is I feel the sandwich prices are high too expensive. They were tasty, but not enough to justify the price. However, it's five stars because the staff here is quite lovely and the interior and exterior is very inviting. Finally after years of driving by I stopped in. Honestly, this place has a tough location. If you are not getting on 101 you wouldn't just drive by. I had a black iced tea, best around. Also got a cuban, a little pricey but worth it and it comes with a side. This place was busy while I ate here which says a lot since the location isn't ideal. Will eat here again read more

This place is amazing. We have had the donuts, cupcakes, and even tried a rice crispy treat before. The food has all been delicious. I personally pick the cupcakes- I enjoy them the most. I plan on trying some of their lunch options too one day- but the cupcakes always distract me! Lots of great staff and I love all the little things you can buy that are local! read more

Great food, great service! We ordered catering for our 4th of July party. When we arrived for pickup, they were just finishing up our order so every was hot and fresh. While waiting, there was a sudden torrential downpour - like crazy, can barely see through it rain. They suggested we back up our car right to the door and then not only did they help us bring out the food, one of the workers came running out with a big umbrella to hold over all of us! We ordered the mixed grill, Florentine rice, mashed potatoes, pasta primavera, salad, caprese skewers, and a charcuterie board- all fantastic, and everyone was raving about the charcuterie board- we could have just served a few of those! The Lighthouse Local is mostly a bakery with a gift shop. They do offer a few other items, such as quiche and breakfast sandwiches. The absolute winners, however, were the scones! We tried the onion & sour cream, the loaded baked potato, the garlic onion, and the Italian meats. All of these scones were delicious. My wife's favorite was the loaded baked potato, and my favorite was the Italian meats. They were buttery, flavorful, and not dry at all. We also tried the maple coffee cake which was also very good. Stopped by today for the first time. It looked like they had a lot of yummy items. There were 2 registers and I went to the register on the left. The blonde woman behind the counter was filling a container with food. I realized she was busy and I certainly didn't mind waiting. However I asked a simple question when I noticed that maybe I should be placing my coffee order at the other register. She mistook my asking (while she was filling a container with food) as me being impatient. She said I could order coffee at any register but she was working on another customers order. She was rude with her response. Not a welcoming response. We decided to leave and go elsewhere. read more

As a customer who was very excited to support this business, unfortunately it has been disappointing the last two weekends in a row. The first weekend, I drove 40 minutes to check out this cafe, only to see a sign on the door that it had closed early. I completely understand that unexpected closures happen and appreciate that the update appeared to have been posted on Facebook (I hadn't considered to check the first time). However, this past weekend was far more frustrating. I called twice before driving out at 1 pm and received no answer. However, since they had posted on Facebook that they had stocked up for today and no updates about closures were posted (like they were last week) I made the trip again. When I arrived at 2 pm, I was told they were closing early again and did not even have coffee. To make things worse, when I asked about it, the staff member stated there had been a post on Instagram (not Facebook where I said I had checked) but this was not true. They also told me that if I wanted to guarantee service, I would have to arrive at noon, even though their hours state they are open until 3. Driving a long distance twice only to find the café unexpectedly closed (with no reliable communication online or by phone) was extremely frustrating. The lack of accountability left a negative impression, especially when the stocking issues should have been addressed after the previous week. I truly wanted to support this business. Hopefully these concerns can be taken seriously so others don't waste their time. read more

What a find! This bakery has the most amazing donuts I have ever seen. Sky high and yummy. Only critique is that the flavors could be a bit more bold. They also have beautifully decorated cookies, yummy breakfast sandwiches, coffees,and cakes. There is a great little gift shop with locally made items too. I enjoy stopping at this cute local café, bakery, and gift shop featuring NH made food products and gifts located on Kilton Road in Bedford. They offer a variety of fresh bakery goods & doughnuts (cronuts too) from Bird Food Baking Co, sweet treats, cake cups, coffee, espresso, made to order sandwiches, quiche, soups, salads, snacks, and cold drinks. They also sell 603 Perfect Blend teas and spices here. I've been in here a few times to pick up doughnuts, scones, sandwiches and quiche. They also sell baked goods from the day before at discounted prices. On my recent visit, I picked up a Cuban Sandwich which had pulled pork, ham, pickled squash & Swiss cheese served with orzo salad and I also got a slice of tomato & cheese quiche (very fluffy) and a S'mores Doughnut. I did have to reheat the sandwich and the quiche back at the office, which is about 25 minutes away. Overall, this is a great place to stop especially for the tempting variety of doughnuts offered here. Get here early for best selection! read more

This was my first time at this cute little hideaway of a café. I ordered online take-out. I ordered an Italian sub and a variety of yummy looking pastries. This place is extremely cute--a bakery also doubling as a gift shop. I was really glad I had ordered donuts, because they looked heavenly. The people working there were also extremely nice Here comes my however... However, while the meat in my sub was great, they put it on focaccia bread. The bread may have been good at some point but was soaked in oil. And it was somehow dry at the same time. And you should have a sub roll with an Italian sub! Rant over. One - in store - waited for over ten minutes and there was only one other customer in store while multiple (4!!) employees saw me and were chatting with one another. One even told me to go to the other register and when I went there the other employee walked away. I had to walk out I was so upset. Two - on the phone - would not take a (simple sandwich) catering order even when website says to place at least 24 hours in advance and it was well before that. Not helpful whatsoever and I really wanted to give their catering a try. I will say - I had tried a sandwich during another visit and it was pretty good but the bad customer service experiences will have me not going back now. read more
