I have visited many Panera Bread fanchises. In Texas cities, smoking (including vaping) is prohibited withinof any main street-front entrance, exit, or open window of a public place or workplace. A man was yelling and smoking at the entrance of my pickup. There were employees outside of the building. I had to cancel my order. Any Texas food service employee is educated on saftey laws regarding smoking and vaping inside and outside of the building. Panera corporate level should confront this very important law because it can cause disabled veterans, cancer patients, COPD patients and healthy customers to get exposed to harmful cigarette smoke. I spoke with Denton County and they addressed that all food service workers are supposed to enforce the rule to keep Texans safe. The employees inside the building didn't know about menu items. The place was empty during a busy period. It was very shocking. The only satisfactory part about the location was the clean facility. The branding for the menu was clear and legible. read more

I was a little disappointed today when choosing Panera to eat dinner. I arrived at 8 pm 2 hours before close and they didn't have French onion soup which is one of only four soups I think they have on the menu. There was little attention to us being at the counter to order our meal. They have an awesome selection of ice teas at Panera, 6 different kinds which I have not seen at any other restaurants. They have tables outside at this location. All the sandwiches I've tried here are good, my favorites are roasted turkey and kale panini and also the chipotle chicken avocado melt. I measure businesses by how they handle problems like not giving you the correct order. It only happened one time but they graciously admitted their mistake and quickly gave us the correct order. Used to come in 3 or 4 times a week. Unfortunately there aren't grown ups working in the kitchen or managers that can be accountable for their staff. I placed an order for my son for pickup and bc our last name is a last name that gets teased by unserious juvenile people, the kitchen staff started laughing at it in front of my 10 year who was waiting to pick up the order. I went to confront them and the manager denied it happened, then the kid who caused most of the problem basically confirmed it happened, by smiling and saying "I didn't even know that was a last name." Normally we enjoy Panera breakfast sandwiches, until today! Upon arriving at this location 10 minutes Prior To the end of breakfast service and waiting an inordinate time to order we were advised that regardless of the fact that when we came in breakfast was still being served, we COULD NOT ORDER breakfast as it was past the 1030 am cutoff. This appeared to be a plan thought up by the cool on duty as they moved from two register to one, this slowing down the process and putting us outside the allotted time for breakfast. I've never liked onions until years ago I had the French onion soup here years ago. Now I have it everytime I go! This visit I also got the Roasted Turkey & Caramelized Kale Panini for the first time and was pleasantly surprised. I am NOT on the kale bandwagon but this was really flavorful and other than getting stuck all in my teeth the kale was actually tasty. I really like the people at this location too. This establishment has been sliding for some time. I went there yesterday to study and eat. Every table that was not marked off was not cleaned. I asked to have my table cleaned and was ignored. I did it myself. I went to place my order and was asked cash or card. Card. The young lady pointed to the kiosks and simply stated order there (pointing) and walked away. It appears that Panera is wanting very little customer contact and their kiosks don't cover items like "double toasted...". I think Panera has a good product but appears to have lost their way. I love that they have healthy options and some vegetarian meals. Pretty much everything I have had is good. Today I had the Mediterranean Veggie Sandwhich. Good and healthy but nothing to get excited over. If I'm looking for a sandwhich while out, than this is a great option. The staff is always friendly and helpful. The line moves a little slow but I think that's bc they take their time with people ordering. Restaurant is always clean and has a small patio area. Can bring the dogs and people watch the parking lot. Not great view, but nice to eat outside. Anyways, I like but not love Panera. You should give it a try. I waited in the parking lot for over 40 MINUTES just got get my food because someone that wasn't supposed to take my order took my order. Turns out they never made the food and I was waiting for all that time. I had to call multiple times to see what was taking so long. Unclean location. The drink station was filthy. Looked like it hadn't been thoroughly cleaned in weeks. One of the employees had her daughter at work. Child was around 5 years old. Child was behind the counter, interrupting her mom while taking orders. Toilets looked like they never get scrubbed. With all that said, the employees were friendly and helpful. Anyway, when my family and I visited on a Sunday 10AM, there was only about half-dozen people there, which is surprisingly low for places serving breakfast in Denton (not sure if it is due to location or maybe people do not like this place, so read other reviews). If your requirement is free WiFi at a non-crowded place, then this place has it for you. Anyway, our experience was sub-par for the following reasons: 1) coffee grounds in coffee; 2) food was slow being delivered to table; we had to contact staff for a breakfast wrap and smoothie that was left at the service counter (with only six people in the place, the customer service should not have been this slow); 3) smoothie is $5 for what looks like a 12 oz cup (FYI: for better value, if you want a smoothie, go to the smoothie place a few doors down); 4) my son, who is not picky and eats about everything, did not like nor finish his breakfast wrap or the smoothie (the same ones remaining at the service counter), so, for me, this is a strong review in itself. I am only sharing my personal review and know that other people may have different requirements or have different luck at this place. If you have good luck at this place, I wish you well. Everything I've ordered has been good. If you order online it'll be ready on time. The pick 2 meal seems like the best deal. I always get the roast beef sandwich and the potato soup. This past visit the soup could've been warming but it was really late in the day so that could be a reason. Get the app and rewards program. You get special deals and sometimes a free pasty. Lately I've been exploring alternative study spots around town for a change of atmosphere. Panera, while not locally owned, lends warmth, good food, cheap coffee, and free Wi-Fi to the stressed-out student. I very much appreciate the tasteful and chill music they have playing. I'd much rather write essays to the tune of Norah Jones than the eclectic, sometimes really awful, indie crap that occasionally assaults my ears at Jupiter House. I must say I'm addicted to their broccoli cheddar soup and French bread. Sooo good *omnomnom*. A 12-oz. cup of drip coffee (which is always fresh and delicious) will cost you $1.72 including tax, but it's free refills - even more of a reason to stick around. And go ahead and get a My Panera rewards card. Taking 2 minutes to activate it online will get you a free pastry to go with your coffee. Pain au chocolat ftw. My only concern is the scarcity of plug outlets. But avoid usual lunch and dinner rush hour times and finding a source to charge your laptop shouldn't be a problem. read more

I love panera and this store in particular but I'll explain that later. First of all I want to say how awesome it is that there is a panera in Denton, can't be thankful of that enough, because during finals week or for exams its nice to come to this place use the wifi and when I get hungry.. get food that's pretty good. My usual order consists of some kind of smoothie a small bowl of broccoli cheddar soup and a small ceaser salad. I can't complain about any of that, the staff here are excellent I have had no run ins no problems to report back. The reason why this particular store gets 4 out of 5 instead of a 3 out of 5( since its just like any other Panera) is because this store donates the excess bread at the end of the night to a charity organization. Some friends of mine and I had asked the servers several years ago what happens to the bread at the end of the night and the servers response was that it all got tossed away. To me that's such a waste of food, the other night I was here until closing with a group of people when we were told that it was the last call to order food before the food gets donated. One of my favorite breakfast places to go on the way to work. I love Panera Bread. I am a club member which earns me points for free food and you also get a free birthday surprise, so its a great free program. Great place to in for healthy breakfast, sandwiches and soup, and pastries. Their soup bowls are the best. Carrot cake and red velvet cupcakes are good and so is the chai latte. I love this location. It is very clean inside and the atmosphere is kinda laid back. It is larger than most and has tons of comfy seating for a great casual feeling. There is a fireplace in the middle, free wifi and tons of seating everywhere, and even outside. Great location and located near great area, West University Drive. You can go there have your business meeting and no one would bother you. The staffs are also friendly and helpful. Panera Breads are about the same anywhere you go, but this one deserves 5 stars because of the staffs. Good job pals! It's fast because people working here are great at it too. Parking here is never a big problem. They have parking right outside the door and a parking lot. I would recommend this location. :) read more

I am a loyal Panera Bread customer. But I had an awful experience with the Denton location off Brinker. I ordered delivery. I got a Greek Salad (add quinoa), Half Tuna sandwich and a bagel with cream cheese. The salad came with no Quinoa or DRESSING. The bagel came with no cream cheese. I called the location and spoke to Nate Hamilton who was incredibly rude and unprofessional. He told me there was nothing he could do other than give me a voucher for next time. I asked him if there was any way they could deliver the missing items so that I could eat my lunch and he said "NO". This is ridiculous. I know mistakes happen but decent places would make up for it. I love Panera and each time I go the customer service is pretty good. This location I went and it was pretty empty. I was greeted by the lovely cashier and she waited patiently to take my order. She was also very friendly in answering my questions. She even told me/explained to me that I could get the bread bowl soup to go (awesome)! The food came out quick and was ALL there, down to the cheese and crutons. I was very please with the amount of food I received for the price I paid. Two weeks in a row I ordered a sprouted grain roll as my side and both times they deliver the food to my table and tell me they are all out of those rolls. OK. Today they brought my food to the table and said they are out of the sprouted roll so they substituted it with a slice of bread. Perhaps they could have come to the table and asked if I prefer a different side before just giving me a slice and bread instead of what I ordered. I asked the manager about it and we concluded that I am just having bad luck when ordering the roll. Also, the soup was once again luke warm. I swear, the soup is never warm enough. If I am going to pay $5 for a little cup of soup then at least I should not have to microwave it in the restaurant. Come on. I am going to bring a thermometer next time because I don't think the soup temperature is in the food safety zone. Also, I ordered my salad with lemon juice as the dressing and this time I just got a bunch of lemon wedges mixed into my salad instead of actual lemon juice. Panera rocks! I usually stick to my staple meal, the baked potato soup and the Sierra Turkey sandwich. I like to get extra chipotle mayonnaise for my sandwich, I just like the taste! The food is so good that I almost never leave without completely clearing my plate! They are allergy friendly and have a book you can look through to make sure you're eating things that aren't going to hurt you.
