I really think it was because of the holiday but the food was well put together and they had an affordable lunch deal that everyone liked. In the area and we were looking for 'home cooked-like' dinner options a saw Cheddars. It has been many many years since we last ate at a Cheddars and for me the Pain Killer immediately came to mind and for hubby it was the Baked Spasagne (which had been taken off the menu way back when). Hubby was hoping it had been brought back; but to his dismay it had not. We arrived pretty late, but were welcomed warmly and our server was attentive and outgoing. My Pain Killer was delicious but I remember it being stronger - the menu still has the 2 drink only disclaimer but I'm not sure why if they have cut back on the alcohol. My meal was very good; I got the Veggie Plate (4 sides of your choice) plus a side salad. Hubby's meal was lacking; he ordered Grilled Shrimp Alfredo plus a side salad. The menu photo showed an almost equal amount of broccoli to shrimp in the pasta but when his arrived to the table there were only 3 florets. The shrimp was not very tasty either - way too salty - maybe they put too much of the grill seasoning???, and the Alfredo sauce really didn't have any flavor. This cheddars location is wonderful. We were seated promptly, the restaurant is very clean and our server Alyssa was very friendly and attentive. They play jazzy 90's music which gives the restaurant a light pleasant atmosphere. We started our meal with a Pain Killer and Texas Sweet Tea with queso, chips and salsa. The pain Killer will take your cares away I had the corneal white fish was good but it could use more flavor, the broccoli casserole was delicious. 2-24-2024 - One of the staff at the hostess station acknowledged us right away and politely said they'd be with us in a few minutes. Luckily it was a quiet night, not too busy and we were seated in less than 5 minutes. Our table was just outside the bar area. They had several TV's behind the bar with sports playing on some and one had rolling episodes of Bob Ross painting. Naomi was our excellent server. The croissants are irresistible, so warm and flaky with butter drizzled on top. You can also request the croissants without the butter. The cornmeal white fish is light with a great crispy crunch and perfect on the inside. The meal was a huge portion with 5 good size pieces of fish, plus 2 sides. Boy I'll tell you, the burger was nice and juicy... but that bottom bun. Seeping the sweat from the burger emanating onto that bottom bun. A nice wet bun with a freshly grilled burger. It would have been nice if the bacon was more crispy to where I'm not having to grit my teeth down and move side to side like I'm at the dentist just to pull it apart. The fries were nice and crispy though. No complaints there. The water was refreshing as well with the ice hurting my teeth as the melting ice seeped into my cavity hole. After our dinner plans got ruined at a previous place we tried we ended up at Cheddars. It was probably around 8:30pm or so and at that time it wasn't too busy. We were seated in the bar area first. The seat was wet and the table was really dirty. Also the bar is a high traffic area but the floor was just dirty. There was food and trash all over. I went to the front and asked if we could be seated in the dining area. Apparently a couple right before us asked to not be seated in the bar due to how unacceptable they found it. I was tempted to just leave. Usually when this happens I just leave and don't waste my time. But we didn't want to be driving around so we sat at a table near the kitchen. This was definitely better. Table was clean as was the floor. I ordered the Monte Cristo sandwich and my wife got the fried shrimp platter. For an appetizer we got spinach dip. The spinach dip: it was ok. Not bad but definitely not great. And wasn't super hot. It clearly had been waiting to get to our table a bit. The Monte Cristo was pretty good. I have had it at various laces where sometimes the meat is cold in the middle. Thankfully not this one. The jam it comes with is good. Sweet but good. The fries were again....ok. I should have swapped out the fries for something else. The shrimp platter my wife really liked. I tried a shrimp and it was good. It's a thicker breading but it's pretty good. For sides she got coleslaw and broccoli rice casserole. Our server was a nice young lady who was pretty attentive however she did forget for bring me the croissant I asked for. And those croissants are some of the best things on the menu. Overall it was ok. Nothing amazing. The food was good, not great. The service was good, again not great because our server forgot to bring me what I ordered. And if I go back I'll never sit in the bar area. Our family had an awful experience here. Please know that we were not sat, so this review is based purely on our experience in the lobby. We arrived early for dinner at 5:40pm since we had a larger party of 13. We waited for 70 min and watched two 6 tops and several small tables sat. At one point there were seven staff members at the host stand discussing our possible seating. No one checked on us, updated us, or offered any apology whatsoever. We watched the manager walk by several times, look in our direction, and head back into the restaurant. When we got up to leave from the lobby, the staff did not say a word, only watched us walk out. Visited this location 2x in one week, both days not good at all. The 1st visit was on Wednesday around 8pm with my daughter and son. They ran out of things we ordered but they failed to mention it until our food was brought out (no potatoes, no glaze for salmon). we ordered chicken wraps and no cabbage was on it. Cold food! Server couldn't remember to bring things we asked for, condiments, refills, croissants. The manager Courtney was there took down all my information and never followed up with me nor did she send the gc she offered. Went back Friday with my daughter and husband. Cold Food Again! Had to send back both my appetizer and entree. This time the manager Amy was there and said she would follow up with the first manager and insisted on getting my info again to make sure I got the 1st gc that was offered. We ordered the chicken strip family bundle and while I have probably eaten worse food I really don't remember when. The chicken was overcooked, hard and dry. And then the server(who was wonderful by the way) let it slip that the manager discovered the warming lights the steaks sat under while baked potatoes were made AFTER the steaks were done was out. Came here for a late lunch with our friends. Was seated immediately but took some time to come order our drinks. Our server was knowledgeable and kind. I got the blackened salmon over rice with corn and broccoli. My friends got the T-bone steak and classic chicken tenders. I was very satisfied with my salmon dish. Everything was seasoned just perfect. My friend said the steak was juicy and sauté mushroom was good. Overall a great experience. Today was my first visit ever to Cheddars. I've been listening to my family and friends rave about how good it is. So my mom and myself made our way to Cheddars so I could finally experience what I have been told. We arrived and it is of course Black Friday so this place is hopping but not crowded, most likely because people were out shopping all the cool deals, which worked in our favor. We were greeted by the hostess and sat immediately at a booth for two. As soon as we were seated our waitress came up took our drink orders giving us time to look over the menu. My mom pointed me in the direction of the 'Key West Chicken & Shrimp' which is plated over a bed of sweet rice, and topped with pineapple pico de Gallo and the most amazing melt in your mouth crescent, I have literally never had one as good as this one. Other than the food, the decor was appealing, place was clean, including tables, floors, seats. Staff was so friendly, I didn't see one person who looked like they didn't want to be there. Food was good but the service was lacking. We ordered an appetizer of cheese fries which were good but I felt needed a little more toppings. There was barely any cheese on the cheese fries. Once we finished our appetizer, we set the plates on the edge of the table where they sat of probably about 20 minutes. Multiple staff members walked by to include our waiter but no one took the plates. Eventually the manager walked over and grabbed them and said she'd check on our food, which was also running behind. I've been to plenty of Cheddar's locations in the past and I thought I knew what to expect. Like many already have posted the service is kind of slow. It seems like they have a fair number of servers but I guess they seat more people than you would think from looking at the location from the outside. It wasn't too terrible but it took close to 10 mins before a server came by. We ordered onion rings as an appetizer and the server put the order in and later came and took our entree orders. We were a little surprised that our entree's came out and we had to ask what happened to our appetizer before they finally came out with it. I had the dijon chicken with mushroom, I have had the dish at other locations and I usually like it. It was just OK, there wasn't much seasoning and not much of dijon mustard flavor like I have had at other Cheddar's locations. I ended up not eating even half of it. She brings our drinks and the croissants, we got our food, it was good, our server was nice, but obviously overworked,stressed and apologetic. Oh man! What happened? I came to the Denton location when it first opened and food, beverage and service were great. Now it's a hollow shell of itself. I used to religiously eat at the location in Irving off of LBJ and MacArthur for years and loved it. Sweet brand-new server was doing her best. She had no one to shadow and no one to shadow her to help. Orders were wrong. Sides were wrong on each dish. Apps never delivered. Food not good and some dishes didn't come out close to on-time with others - leaving us to eat separately or hang on and eat ours cold. We all felt so bad for the server. And she was so embarrassed. No manager visit. No apologies. No nothing. Just agreeing to take the app of our tab when they brought it out as I was getting the check to leave. Which is OK. However, our 3 year old was supposed to get it early so he could eat the chicken strips as his entree. He was sad and didn't understand as you can imagine. I do hope something positive to correct this downturn happens quickly - it's a beautiful location. Oh - one more thing - we didn't get our free honey butter croissants either. First of all let me start by saying the croissant are amazing. It's the first thing you get at the table and oh my they are delicious. I could of just ate those and been all set. Fortunately everything else we ordered was delicious as well. I got the ribs and tenders with the hot honey glaze on the tenders. They were juicy and had a good sweet heat. My wife had the burbon glazed salmon and didn't realize she had the glaze until the salmon was almost done but she was able to take her last few bites with the glaze and it was delicious. Service was awesome and Jeremiah was very attentive and helpful which created an awesome dining experience. Sat at bar for lunch. Wife ordered a glass of wine which was served with heavy lipstick all around the rim. Pointed it out to bartender who politely replaced it with a new glass which had even more lipstick When we pointed it out she asked if we wanted something else to drink because all wine glasses are always that way. I would not eat anything coming out of here as hygiene is clearly not a concern to them. Someone from kitchen brings meal and we are still waiting for straws from the drink delivery. My husband ordered butter only on baked potato, med/well steak, "buttered off the cob corn" . He gets potato with sour cream only, well done steak, no corn. Gets corn that is 100% soggy canned corn and finally gets correct potato when he has finished his meal.
