I could not see what they did with the bagels when they picked them up, but I did hear someone say "its fine, i'm not eating bagels tomorrow." We came here about noon on a Saturday. And it was a little busy but that gave us time to review the menu. We have both been to a Panera bread before but could not recall much, it's been a long time. At first glance the menu seems confusing. We could not tell which sandwiches were hot or cold. We could not tell if there were sides included. We could not tell the size difference from a half to a whole. We asked some questions and settled on our choices. I chose a full ham and swiss sandwich and my wife ordered a summer corn chowder soup in a bread bowl. Both came with a side and we each chose chips. We both ordered water. They gave us a coaster pager and we found a seat. The interior seemed confusing as well. We saw the self serve coffee stand near the registers but had to search to find water which was in another location on the soda fountain. Our pager went off in a timely fashion but our food was not at the pickup shelf. We had to wait a little but it finally showed up. Our meals tasted good but were not great. Our biggest recommendation would be to work on the intuitiveness of the menu and overall process. read more

We do come here to eat often and the food is good. Typically I order autumn squash soup, grilled cheese, sandwich, and a pastry. The food is good. However, they are shortstaffed and sometimes you have to wait for service. Sometimes, The tables are not cleaned. Employees do make a concerted effort to help the customers, however, being short staffed, they are spread thin. My food is prepared quickly so that is never an issue and the food is good. read more

At Chambersburg, PA Panera at 7:15 pm on a Friday night and was told the dozens of French baguettes lining the shelves of the rack behind the cashier is "for tomorrow" and is not available for a side or for a sandwich. For a chain- this place is pretty awesome. They have vegetarian friendly food, delicious soups, and baked good that aren't so sweet your teeth hurt. Prices aren't cheap, and I've been there when a good clean up would be nice- I hate sticky tables- BUT the food is somewhat healthier than many chains, and I love using their carry out service. I hate that it is an additional $5.99 to use DoorDash to order there- that makes me less likely to choose Panera as often as I'd like. Just sayin! I can handle inconvenience, as long as people are courteous. And this crew was amazing! They are a skeleton crew and couldn't do rapid pickup or dining room service. I called and the manager was very nice, told me I could go through the drive and give them my phone number (for my monthly Panera+ coffee subscription) and they could provide me with my coffee fix. I travel for a living and have eaten at a fair share of Panera's. This Panera's was "average" for this for this chain. The staff have always been pleasant however out of the five times I've been through this drive through in the last 5 months only once was my order been completely correct. It's usually been missing the bread or chips, no napkins, and even once the sandwich. Twice they were completely out of large cups? Now I realize drive throughs make mistakes, and it happens from time to time but dang folks attention to detail. This place, for being a chain, has a surprisingly homey feel to it. I'm assuming that's the point of Panera, but it's a nice parallel compared to other chains in the area. My girlfriend and I love going here especially for breakfast. They have incredibly good breakfast sandwiches, and their smoothies are a must for me. It retains the small café feel while still having the qualities of a chain, such as ordering on a kiosk. The decoration and overall vibe is very relaxing, making this a great place to just sit and talk to someone for a while. They also have top notch Chicken Noodle Soup, which is usually my back up plan if we can't make it for breakfast. Stopped in on a Sunday afternoon around 3:30 at the Chambersburg Panera Bread. I got a salad and my friend got a ham sandwich. What a waste of money! Salad was so small I was hungry two hours later. The sandwich had barely anything on it! For the price, it was ridiculous. There was trash all over the floor as well. I picked up several napkins myself and put them in the trash. The place wasn't picked up at all. The station used for returned trays, bowls etc was so high it was a balancing act to add our to the stack! What a disappointment. The employees at this Chambersburg location are very nice, and patient when you have no idea what the heck you want. I don't go here often, and because of that, it usually takes me awhile to decide what I want. Their soups are hearty and delicious, sandwiches are great, and desserts are awesome. Get a mug for coffee and get refills. They also label the coffee with the time it was made so you know how fresh it is. Not fresh? Let them know and they'll remedy that, but that's not been an issue. Their dark roast coffee is rather strong, though, so beware! It can be nice to have lunch with a friend, family member, or even a business lunch. There's plenty of seating and it's never super loud, even when it's busy. They also have a fireplace they use in the winter. Outdoor seating is available, although it's not much of a view. I've had food catered from here before, and the quality didn't lack even with the large order. This is certainly a great lunch spot, or just coffee and dessert. read more

My wife and I went to Panera this evening and went through the drive through. We both just wanted to order soup and a baguette, but they proceeded to tell us they were out of baguettes. How does Panera BREAD run out of bread? Can't be that busy with take out only. Being a St Louis native, I come here when I'm home sick. Still call it St. Louis Bread Co., the new Panera name just doesn't stick - one thing that never changes is their commitment to quality products. The breads and bagels are superb and the salad combinations are always very good. I can't prove it, but I think the salads are smaller than they used to be. However, the flavors are yummy. Right now I'm addicted to the Fugi apple chicken. Perfect for summer. I also enjoy their iced green tea, but the brewed coffees are a bit lackluster. This has never deterred me from stopping in, especially when you consider how awesome all the baked goodies are. This location is clean and the service is fairly quick. I do wish the staff had more personality, but this is Chambersburg and it's fast casual dining, so I'll remain realistic. This is my local Panera, been patronizing them since they opened, but lately they are struggling, I get the Covid thing is tough, and corporate decisions are sometimes wrong, shortly after they finally opened inside, they went back to drive through and curbside, seems as though they had management restructuring, and staff shortages, then a visit from someone from corporate that unknowingly had Covid, luckily no one caught it, now the hours are reduced 9-3? Then they closed when I tried to drive through on a Sunday morning, I have a coffee membership and bought it thinking I could get get coffee everyday, between jobs. This was my worst Panera experience ever. I have been to 3 other Panera locations and have never been disappointed. When ordering my food I could barely hear what the cashier was saying which isn't a huge deal. However, I then went to wait for my $9 small grilled cheese and small mac n cheese. I was waiting for my food for over 7 minutes until I saw it sitting there at the counter. My name was never called and my pager didn't go off. The older gentlemen(a manager) who was standing right there didn't apologize and they forgot my chips as well. My grilled cheese was also burnt as well. A bit more expensive than most, but also healthier than most. They do accept credit cards and Apple Pay. This one has seasonal outdoor seating. Food and service were great.
