And you get one of those cool buzzer thingies to alert ya when your order is ready; they're especially fun when you sit on em and it starts vibrating (; hehe. I like this chain for the food. "soft" is the feel with the paint and ambiance of the place which I dislike, but I get over that because I am a nut for good baked goods. I think they have rats. I saw a dead rat in the parking lot once. I kind of shrugged it off, but the other day when I pulled in a huge rat ran right in front of my car into the bushes in front of their location. A little concerning seeing signs of rats twice. This Panera Bread looks like a large study hall. The lighting was dark and there were lots of empty seats clustered together in the middle of the dining room. Everyone was sitting on the periphery. [See attached picture] I had the Thai Chopped Chicken Salad during dinner hours, and it was pretty good. Grilled white meat chicken, Asian sesame dressing, edamame, crunchy croutons, bell peppers; everything you see in the picture. It's a huge bowl, and the portion size was a bit much, but it's worth the $9. I just noticed a first world problems like no tong in the bucket of lemons and crumbs on the seats. But I think if some minor adjustments were made to the lighting and seating arrangement, I'd come here again. read more

I first tried Panera Bread during my business travels a few years ago in Birmingham, Alabama, and I never forgot their yummy Asian Sesame Chicken salad. When I saw Panera Bread popping up here and there in the Bay Area, I was so happy (doesn't take much!)! The first Bay Area Panera I tried was this location near my boyfriend's house in San Jose, and this particular location is the best (I tried a few others in the area, including one in San Francisco). Somehow they put just the right amount of lettuce, dressing, almonds, mandarin oranges, etc. in my Asian Sesame Chicken salad that it makes me return for my fix everytime. We've been here multiple times and each visit the sandwiches and soups have been incredibly tasty! Have you ever laid on a tempurpedic pillow, or memory foam mattresses? This is the closet place to my home and boy thank god it's so fabulous My husband and I are empty nesters so I get weary of cooking and this is a great option for dinner or lunch. I love love love me some Panera! The salads always taste really fresh, the dressings are yummy and the soups are tasty - my favorite is the Creamy Tomato. This was my first time at this location, it's a little busy because of the area, but we were served very quickly. In fact by the time we got to our table with our drinks they were delivering our food. Their new Fontina grilled cheese is sooo freakin' delicious. I hope they keep that one on the menu, or maybe not because it's so not part of my diet plan... I also really like their breakfast soufflés with the flaky buttery crusts Mmmmm I wish they served those all day. This place is unorganized. Bad customer service. 1st time I stopped by this location about a week ago, I waited 20 min outside for my food since i did a curbside pick up. My food was cold and they missed my orange juice. I called and called no answer. Today I reordered give them the benefit of the doubt, but no I waited outside for my food over 12 min after I seen the process that my food was ready... no one came out I couldn't wait any longer and went Inside to get my own food while the employees were just hanging out. Used to LOVE this place. There are still things about it I Love. The horseradish sauce they serve on their steak and white cheddar panini. Delish. Their sourdough bread is crazy good. BUT tonight we went and they were out of their good bread and were offering brioche as the accompaniment to their soup. No thanks. What an empty piece of flour! Next, my husband asked if he could get a sesame bagel instead. The girl says no, you would have to buy that. YOU ARE OUT OF YOUR BREAD. Are you kidding me?? Panera is my go-to place to study and to eat. I like that I when I eat the food here I don't feel like I'm going to die of a heart attack. My 5 stars aren't really for the food here though. The 5 stars go to the excellent staff here. One staff member in particular, Leticia "Lety", she goes above and beyond great customer service. She remembers repeat customers and is always smiling. But it's not just her, everyone at this location is really great. Despite this location having such a small dining room, I still go to this location because of the cleanliness and customer service. My very first visit to a Panera Bread. Very disappointed. Walked in, no one in line. Walked up to the counter to order only to notice the only person attending to the register was busy prepping an order for a customer. I stood there watching her struggle with the bagel slicer machine for the next 7 minutes before she came over to take my order! Finally, order taken. 1 breakfast sandwich. Asked for my name, so I gave it to her. Wait another 10 minutes. Finally another employee to my left muttered something out that vaguely sounded like "baco ey sanwi" And no, I'm not misspelling that. That's exactly what it sounded like. So I got up and went over to her to see what she was muttering about. I showed her my receipt and asked if that's a "bacon and egg breakfast sandwich", to which she replied "I call you TWICE!" and I'm like "No way! I was sitting right there. Who did you call?" She shows me her copy of the receipt with a complete misspelling of my name. I told her that's not my name and that they should switch to calling out order numbers instead of people's names. The combination of order taker butchering my name, plus a foreign-language speaker who's just about incomprehensible makes for a very shoddy order alerting system. A complete lack of organization and customer service fail led to a nearly 20 minute visit for 1 little breakfast sandwich. Panera... you've lost me as a customer! read more

I have returned A couple weeks later because it is close to my job, they STILL have gnats and flies on the pastries and when I mention it to the MANAGER this time, her response is "we're workin on it, it won't be fixed overnight" . I've been to a ton of Panera Breads and I've never seen one that gives you smaller portions than this place. I always get the same order: a half steak arugula sandwich, and I've always been happy with it. Except here, where the half sandwich is smaller than a regular piece of sandwich bread (served on regular white bread too, whereas the other Paneras I've been to serve theirs on thicker, ciabatta-like bread). Literally this sandwich is 2" long by 1" wide and they have the nerve to charge me $8 for it. Never coming back to this location again. read more

This place has deplorable service. We asked the girl at the counter what she recommended and ordered that right away. Then, at 10:28am, after our order had already been punched in, someone shouts from the kitchen, "No more breakfast!" We pointed out that they had already taken our order--taking extra time to do it because she was showing a new employee how the system works--but the girl who took our order explained that the woman in the kitchen is "super mean" and that "she won't do it." That woman needs a serious attitude adjustment, and so does the business if it thinks that level of customer service by its employees is acceptable. I can't speak to the food. It looked decent, but we walked out and didn't get anything, and we will never set food in a Panera Bread again. read more

Came to pick up an online order today. Figured it'd be a quick in and out, but that wasn't the case. My order was not ready on time and possibly wasn't even completed. After my inquiry, several employees jumped in to help and were pretty friendly about it. However, their explanations had me exasperated. They could not find the order and kept asking for the name on the order. I gave them the name and they still could not find anything, neither in the back nor the online orders shelves. I showed my confirmation email and repeatedly asked them to look up my order confirmation number and they all said they couldn't find it. Here I am, watching them type the number or whatever it was they were typing on their screens, looking professional as if they're looking up my order number. I had multiple people telling me I was probably at the wrong branch, and also that I must have not put in my order. Um, I have been showing you my phone with the confirmation email, clearly listing the food items ordered, the location, the total paid. The lady seemingly in charge took my phone and started writing everything down, maybe to start the order. I have no idea. I press her for the order number again and she finally tells me that they can't look up order numbers. Only names. Excuse me, what? What's the point of confirmation numbers then? Mind you, this lady seemingly in charge was also tapping away on the screen when I requested her to look up the confirmation number earlier. What is this? A fake show of working on resolving the problem? They finally gave me my order. I was feeling a bit disgruntled, but no one was rude, and the order was complete, so I didn't have much to complain. I wasn't in a rush either. My friend who was with me decided to order an extra salad with chicken, so we sat down to wait for her order. While waiting, I had a strange feeling overcome me and decided to check the order. They left out a bottled water! I went to ask the lady, she said something very short in Spanish to the guy placing the order and they passed over the water bottle immediately. Incredibly fast. I thought they were on a trust/honor basis, but then I noticed the water bottle had a sticker with the order name. Pretty suspicious, as if they purposefully left the water out, hoping I wouldn't notice. Back to my friend, she did not open her salad until way after we left. We found out there was no chicken! They charged her for the extra chicken, yet did not put in any. It was quite upsetting watching my friend dig all the way to the bottom of her salad, hoping to see any piece of possibly hidden chicken. Unfortunately, there was none. I'm leaning towards them purposefully leaving the chicken out, since it looks like this wasn't the first time it's happened at this branch, based on a previous Yelp review. The service wasn't too great, but I do have to give at least two stars because I do very much enjoy Panera foods and their tea drinks. I'll just be avoiding this Panera branch. I'd say if you have to come here, double check your orders. read more

First, let me say I like this Panera location. My complaint is with Corporate. This morning, I ordered lunch for someone having a birthday today. The website had a delivery time, let me place the order, and took my credit card. But 3-1/2 hours later, I receive an email saying the order is cancelled with no explanation and no return email address. I tried calling corporate at 855-372-6372, and the automated system tells me to email them, then hangs up. I find a button on their webpage to send email, but when I click, it doesn't work....and my friend does not receive her birthday gift. The people in the stores are working hard right now to take care of customers. Corporate, you need to do a better job like them! read more

I went to this particular Panera for the first time a few days ago. It was really busy at lunch time (1:30pm), but I didn't really have to wait in a line, so that was great. Service was easy and the cashier was very friendly. As soon as she finished my order, she immediately went to go make my frozen lemonade. Right after that was ready, my sandwich was also ready to pick up. Good food, but a little pricey IMO. Over $12 for a sandwich, a bag of chips, and frozen lemonade was a bit too much. It wasn't particularly filling either. Being a chain, I know the prices are probably the same everywhere, but it was just something I wanted to point out. There was also a really nice man who was bussing tables. Although it looks like you need to bus your own table, he told everyone who was finished with their food/plates to just leave them on the table and he would come pick them up. I appreciate the fact that they're trying to make the meal healthy by offering an apple as an alternative to potato chips. But, what's really that healthy about a grilled sandwich that's stuffed with an artichoke spread whose ingredients are primarily mayo and cheese? The apple makes me feel like I'm eating a healthy meal. Located at a very busy intersection (Hamilton Avenue and Hwy. 17) - this place can bet busy and crowded at times.
