This Panera was a disappointment. Maybe it's because I'm not originally from a small town that i have a higher expectation? Maybe this place is perfectly acceptable to others, but to our family it was just a disappointment. The place was a MESS with nearly every table dirty, the dishes piled sky high and trash on the floor. We went on a Sunday evening, I believe, and the amount of customers in the store did not seem, to me, to be enough to excuse the unkempt nature of the inside. They weren't stocked on lids for the cups. I have 3 young children- lids are a necessity. They were out of the bread we requested for our sandwiches. My son's grilled cheese was sliding apart and nearly two separate pieces of toast with cheese on them. My daughter's mac and cheese was tasty, I will give them that. That was probably the only plus to our experience. To round off my meal i decided to order a hot chai latte to go as it was cold and someth warm would be nice. What i got was half a chai. Literally. I'll include a picture with this review of what i recieved. As you'll be able to see in the picture the lid is clean as is the inside of the cup, there's no foam residue on the lid or the cup to suggest that i drank some because i didn't! So i spent just over $4 for about 2oz of chai and 2oz of steamed milk. My husband brought this to the attention of the girl who made my chai as he thought she would gladly fix it, but instead she replied something to the effect of 'that's just how it is because there has be room for the steamed milk foam.' Right... so i pay $4 for half a drink? It really was a shame as i spent close to $50 to feed my family of 5. That's the potential for a lot of revenue if you make a repeat customer. Panera is back! For awhile there I was avoiding Panera. The food seemed to have gotten too fast foodie for me. I was pleasantly surprised with their new menu. I love the broth bowls. The potsticker bowl is amazing. Lots of fresh veggies. A good healthy alternative to a cream based soup and a sandwich. Love it read more

Panera is a great meeting place for friends, family and work. I might be alone in my view, but if I have a choice to hold a business meeting at either Starbucks or Panera I would definitely meet at Panera. They have the coffee granted the choices are not as robust as Starbucks, but I know there are a number of people that like it better. They also have a plethora of food choices or snack items to hold you over. Plus, it is typically cheaper. The Baker's Dozen special is an incredible deal. Tuesday's you can get 13 bagels for a little over 7 dollars. The quality is also very good. If they mess up on the order they will fix it as well. I have never had an issue at Panera where they didn't fix it right off of the bat. Their menu is also very customizable. read more

I like the concept of Panera and enjoy the menu selection. The food is good, correct temperature and staff is friendly. My last time there I got the turkey blt and tomato soup thru drive thru, the soup was great, just the right temperature and very tasty! The sandwich was good but the bread crust was extremely tough-each bite ripped large pieces of the bread off because the crust simply would not come apart which resulted in a very messy sandwich that fell apart. Overall a good place, will probably only do dine in after this experience so I can cut the crust off. read more

The drive through and inside are closed including cash registers, kiosks, and the dining room. The food wait was upwards of 45 minutes and online ordering wasn't working. It was dirty and there were screws on the floors. Seems like they are greatly understaffed :( read more

Was really craving my usual order from Panera tonight and had no way of getting there to dine in, do drive thru, or takeout. However when I went to order delivery online, it said they don't deliver to my address which is right on kirkwood near campus. I didn't understand why they wouldn't deliver there and wanted to inquire about what places the DO deliver if not on kirkwood... But I called twice, was put on hold, then hung up on even when I pressed 5 to speak to the manager. Terrible customer service and looks like I'll have to get dinner somewhere else tonight. 3/28/17 Waiting for my order at the pick up area and a gentleman named Ian in the kitchen is pretty "ticked off" that there are people ordering food at 8:00 at night (this is a college town). Cussing up a storm. Screaming from the drive thru window to the pick up counter. F bombs like crazy. Furious that they are out of baguettes and bacon. Totally rude to me!! The food was good, basic but what you would expect. The customer service was exceptional. The young ladies, Juliana and Viola were very friendly and helpful with menu info so I could make an informed decision and Jerry brought my food and solved an error with the order quickly and professionally. I do enjoy Panera. They have several healthy options (salads, oatmeal and the like). I feel the quality has decreased a bit and sometimes the portions are way too small. The pastries are generally good but usually appear more delicious than they truly are. read more

I'm surprised that Panera's reviews so low! I'm actually glad that Bloomington has Panera. This is one of the places I used to frequent a lot to get either a breakfast or tea time break. I like to have my ham and cheese souffle and sit by the window where the sun light shines in, free coffee refills and occasionally using my laptop to do some work there too. And there also calories count next to each sandwiches and drinks, which is really helpful for me to stay in my daily calories limit (at least I try hard to). My complaint is that the "eco friendly" option their app that gives you the option to not include plastic silverware with your pick up order is completely fake, they will give you silverware every time no matter what you select. Haven't been to Panera as of late, but it's customer service has certainly gone downhill. Ordered just 4 cappuccinos to go, waited around 25 minutes, and my order was never made. I went to ask for a refund, as I could see in the screen that customers that had ordered food after me had got their orders (and many in the store), but I NEVER even got a simple "I'm sorry" or, heaven forbid, an attempt to try and make up for this negligence. After I explained this to the cashier, he just disappeared and then somebody came and asked if it was cash or card, again, no apologies or attempt to remedy the situation; not even a simple hello. I said cash and then the person said I'm sorry, but no further attempt to remedy. As I was waiting, I noticed the sign that says that, if the order isn't right, to inform and that it would be made right and even a treat would be given for the inconvenience. What a bunch of lies. I feel the other reviews are right on par. It definitely has nothing to with customers not liking change. Customers love change when it's in the direction of positive but the new location has not been positive. I attempted to eat there soon after they opened and I ended up leaving without making a purchase. I love their coffee, seasonal soups, cinnamon crunch bagels, Greek salad, and Mediterranean sandwich. Panera's prices for food are a bit high for the portion size but their coffee and bagels are fairly priced. I started eating at Panera at the old location when they opened in 2003. I always found the parking during peak times to be challenging. I expected to find parking at new location more ample but that's yet to be the case. I hope that after all the mall construction is finished parking will be abundant. Employees have always been nice to me. Kelli is sweetheart and has worked at Panera for many years. The other employees are very helpful and nice to me, it might be because I'm a familiar face. There's been many occasions at peak times a customer leaves a table, I save it, and then find a employee who is more than happy to wipe it off. The manage on occasion has offered to take my dirty dishes. I always decline and take them to the dirty tray and dish receptacle myself. Panera's unlimited coffee is great. There's nothing like winter day sipping a coffee eating a cinnamon crunch bagel. It's not a bad snack for $3.50. A Greek Salad is $6.39, it used to be only $5.39. I've stopped buying it because it's over priced. I think a more reasonable fair price would be $4.39. It's basically nothing but lettuce, feta cheese, tomatoes, onions. In reality all their salads are ridiculously over priced. If you want a good salad, stop at Kroger and buy one of those $2.50 Dole salad kits. You can even eat it there in cafe style surroundings. The coffee at Kroger is pretty good too. I look forward to Wholefoods opening, more options. Panera was once one of my favorite places to eat but I don't really like the new location at all. The layout is difficult to navigate. There's there's like no booths anymore. At the old location there was booths that lined virtually a whole exterior and interior wall. The aisle between them made it easy to walk down to the food pickup counter, fill beverage cup, and even use the restroom. The new location it's cramped and requires a lot of excuse me and apologies to get to the restroom. It's disappointing. I was hoping for so much more. But there's nothing that can be done now. So Kroger and eventually Wholefoods will probably be my stopping place when I come to town to visit my mommy and daddy. read more

I'm very frustrated by this particular store. It recently moved to a more visible location, allowing for ample parking and a drive thru. Hooray for those things! But my gosh, you can't MOVE in this restaurant. It makes no sense. They constructed a new building, so had the perfect opportunity to actually *add* space. Instead, they seem to have reduced the size of the restaurant. It doesn't matter when you're there, you're dodging people everywhere you turn. The last time I was there (we were 2 adults and a 3 yr old) was before the lunch hour, and even so, there were no tables. After hovering and circling rudely for about 15 mins, we were finally able to snag a too-small table. It was like musical chairs, with everyone rushing to see who could get there first. We normally like a meal at Panera Bread, but this was an exception. While traveling we stopped here on a busy afternoon in the restaurant. Nearly all the empty tables had crumbs and other debris on them. Finally we found a two-person table near a window that had window sills protruding about two inches out from the glass. There were crumbs and even little pieces of dried meat all along the ledge. Really disgusting. Then I noticed that seemed to be typical all along the window seats. Under several of the tables were also crumbs, crumpled napkins, etc.This restaurant needs to clean up its act! read more

I used to enjoy going to this Panera until they moved their location about a block from their old one. The new building they designed is horrible. The layout doesn't make any sense and there's not enough space for everyone who decides to eat inside. Not enough tables, not enough walking space. It's annoying to say the least. With this location's newly added drive thru section makes it so people who decide to eat in will have to wait much longer for food then before. Trying to maximize profits here for Panera has lead to poorer, slower service and food. I'm very disappointed by these new changes. It's with a groan that I review the desultory eatery that is Panera in Bloomington. Make no mistake... Even after giving this a 1* review I will still eat here due to the destitute nature of restaurants in the area. Simply put: this location seems to have perfectly imbued ambivalence and contempt into the food and service they provide. There are no hellos, goodbyes, pleasantries of any sort. When ordering, the staff are often buffaloed by any asinine deviations from the normal "soup and salad" sorority order. When you receive your overpriced food, it will become clear that your $8.95 sandwich (or $6 half sandwich in a you-pick-two) was assembled with the skilled hands of Michael J. Fox off his meds, and that's even assuming the staff put the correct ingredients in your order at all. They are not set up to take rapid orders in any efficient manner whatsoever. I have watched the overstaffed/underskilled workforce drop my food on the floor before because they can't stop bumping in to eachother behind the counter. Not to mention the fact that they *LOSE RAPID PICKUP ORDERS ENTIRELY* forcing those on-the-go to stand inline and wait for their orders to be made anew. Now, let's talk management. If you go here and see a nice guy with reddish hair, know you might magically have a 3-4* experience. If you see anyone else running shift, you might as well leave now. Here's how we will highlight the difference. I've had two rapid pickup orders screwed up under different managers. When the red-haired guy ran the shop, he took my phone call (they forgot the chicken in my chicken Caesar salad and didn't give me a side) and refunded my order on the spot. With one of the female managers, today, my chicken was undercooked and, after paying upcharges for Gouda cheese and extra bacon on a sandwich, receiving neither, she demanded that I bring my receipt and Food in to receive compensation. I should also mention that today's order was a rapid pickup order that they failed to receive for some reason, and they didn't even give me a receipt in the first place. Don't know how they expected this to work, so they'll get lambasted on yelp instead. In summary, this panera is so far below par I could probably beat it at golf. Unless you see Captain RedBeard maning the helm (shift manager) turn and run, fast, and take as many survivors with you as you can. read more
