I was a bit disappointed with this visit. I'm a big fan of Lennie's and recommended it for a work team outing to celebrate a staff member's last day. Unfortunately, our reservation was lost, and the manager insisted we hadn't made one even after we showed confirmation. Despite the restaurant being mostly empty, the food took quite a while to come out, and the appetizers were served at the same time as our meals. That said, the food itself was very good and our server, Carson, was excellent! He worked with the hostess to help resolve the reservation issue and was very apologetic and personable throughout the experience. read more

Lennie's is such a great spot in Bloomington. Tons of seating--both inside and outside when the weather cooperates--so it never feels cramped. We had the flatbread and the house salad, and both were excellent. They've got a surprisingly nice wine selection and some solid Bloomington-brewed IPAs. We had the coziest little table tucked in a corner of the porch outside, flower boxes around us and sturdy outdoor furniture. Enough room so everyone could move freely, including our excellent server. Her name on the receipt said ?Audrey. Long blonde ponytail and expert eyeliner. She was very helpful in making our dinner selection, telling me about a flatbread special while I pondered what pizza I wanted. I was able to choose four toppings, so my pizza was heavenly. Dinner companion had a Cobb salad which had some generous slices of perfectly ripe avocado. Serving was generous and he declared it excellent. I visited Lennie's for lunch and enjoyed a lunch special slice + soup, a glass of kombucha, and slice of cheesecake. The veggie slice of the day was a veggie supreme slice, which had seitan-based pepperoni and sausage with veggies. I'm not entirely sure if it was dairy cheese or vegan. The soup of the day was sweet potato curry. The current kombucha on tap from Crossroads Kombucha was blueberry sage. The daily cheesecake was NY style with strawberry sauce. All of the food was really good! They were really busy during the lunch rush, but I was able to be seated right away. Food took a little longer than I expected considering it should have just been premade pizza and soup, but in the end I was in and out within the hour which was just fine for a sit-down meal. My waiter seemed so busy but despite that managed to be attentive and very friendly. I'd definitely come for the lunch special again and I'll also be sure to come by at the end of day sometime to indulge in the draft beer selection. read more

Super friendly staff. I personally love that. Dogs are welcome on the patio as I got to see a few furry friends. I got the Lenny's special sandwich, which was fantastic and recommended. My server also recommended the fries and she did not miss guy there. Not overcooked but nice and crispy. Have a great beer selection. There's a few other things on the menu. This was my second time dining at Lennie's. I live in another state, and dined there last night while visiting family (my last time at Lennie's was about 3 years ago). It was super easy to reserve a table for 3 on Open Table at the time we wanted. Loved the warm, friendly and casual atmosphere, the terrific food and drink, and excellent service. I had 2 seasonal beers: the Cherry Tart (which was good, not a sour, had mild tartness) and the Krampus Russian Imperial Stout (AMAZING, great flavor! But very strong, so don't plan to drink several in one night). I and another in my party had the entree special: Baked Mac & Cheese with Shrimp & Andouille Sausage. It was TO DIE FOR GOOD. The third member of my party had the Turkey Tortilla Salad from the regular menu, and said it was excellent. Our server Audrey was just great: friendly, fun, informative and did just the right amount of checking on us without being intrusive. A really terrific dinner from every angle. My grandson had one of their huge sandwiches and he normally finishes everything that he gets but he couldn't finish that sandwich. It was just too big. Lennie's is a staple in Bloomington. I've been going here since they were on 10th street. The menu is much smaller than it used to be. Love the outdoor seating area now. Park in the nearby lot across from Hartzell's ice cream. Service was great, speedy and attentive. Brought me a water refill without even asking. Food was good. I would add protein to the beet salad which felt a little light on the beets for it to be named after the ingredient (might have just been the plating). My friend got the Lennie's original roast beef sandwich and enjoyed it plus he was glad he went with the cucumber slaw. Overall, a nice menu and solid option near IU campus. Probably the worst thincrust pizza we've had anywhere in a long time. Tons of cheese, no flavor, crust had no flavor and zero integrity. Super floppy/flimsy. After walking in we waited at the hostess station, for a minute before being shown to our seats. Our hostess didn't say hello or welcome in no greeting, but that's beside the point. We were sat in the bar area at a table (we did not ask to be sat there). Well we had just gone out for a quick bite to eat and my girlfriend didn't bring her ID with her. We sat for about 10 minutes before our first interaction with our waitress. No waters were brought and this is when we found out that my girlfriend didn't have her ID with her. This then ensued the chaos of being asked why we were sitting in the bar. We said that they didn't ask and we weren't at the bar top but at a table in the bar area. The waitress then left us and went to speak with the hostess for another 5 minutes before moving all of our belongings to a table in the normal area. Honestly this is still not the biggest issue at this point. We thought we had everything covered to sit in the bar area while we weren't asked we waited patiently and were very open to moving. When we sat at our final table we were not served for 15 minutes. No waters, our a stopping by from our server to say that she was busy and she would be with us in a moment. We actually saw the server multiple times at the order kiosk area actually on her phone and talking to other servers. Lastly, it was not busy, there were a lot of open tables, and with the open style kitchen they have it's pretty easy to be aware and see that the kitchen was also not busy. Unfortunately, we will most likely not be returning we did end up ordering just their famous voodoo chili I believe and it was quite good, but not enough for the lack of service. I didn't like the menu or the food or even the service, really. The loaded potato soup was needlessly adulterated with way too much flimsy bacon pieces and pretty much no potato bites. The spaghetti and meatballs were pretty bad-watery tasteless sauce, without telling you whether the meatballs are beef or pork (I think mine were pork, they didn't taste very good). I did appreciate the fact that they could serve us and the beer was tasty. I won't go back, I'm sorry. I've grown picky in my older years. It was a Sunday night, they were out of french fries among a lot of other stuff and that seems lame to me. I walked in after a hike nearby and was hungry. I ordered a full order of mushroom tortellini with a pint of their wheat ale. The food and service were five star, but the beer lacked flavor. I sat at the counter. There were no outlets to charge my phone with though, and my phone was in the single digits. Most brewpubs I have walked in on my travels have outlets under their counters. The ambiance was nice. All the servers were busting butt and managers were standing around on their phones. They really need to do that kind of stuff away from customers. Following a show at the IU Auditorium, we were looking for a spot that was open a little later, was able to take care of a few under 21 types, and had a nice variety of light bites. Lennie's was able to take care of us and then some. I had their Roasted Garlic Focaccia, which was served up nice and hot on their wood-fired oven. It has a delicious blend of caramelized onions and rosemary and a perfectly roasted garlic bulb on the side. Our high school kid was really happy with their spaghetti and meatballs and my wife was taken with the seasonal roasted veggies - some of the best roasted bell peppers I've had in a long time. All told, we would add this to the rotation when head down to Bloomington to visit our college kid. Excellent customer service and delicious menu options. read more
