Really cool place - they have a ton of beer to try! Their beer menu (which was fully printed and available at our table - no scanning a QR code or squinting to read a board at the bar) had a whole page of beers by The Tap Brewery, followed by two pages of guest craft beer representing every major type of beer and with some unique options, all on tap. For drinks, cocktails (and a few mocktails) and a smaller selection of wine are also available. I wanted to get beer but I was kind of tempted by the cocktails. My first choice was a flight that included a mix of The Tap beers and guest beers, but the waiter came back after taking the order and told me that they could only do flights with their beers but could let me sample the beers I wanted to try, so I did that, and the samples were probably around 2 oz each so I basically got half a flight. After that, I ended up ordering a real flight of their beer. The Tap beers I tried were: Kill the Lights stout (regular and barrel-aged), Tapenator dark lager, Frost Bite winter ale, Nefarious Nectar blonde. Guest beers: Jacob Leinenkugel white mocha stout, Weihanstephaner Hefeweissbier, BrewDog Winter Staycation. Not going to waste space reviewing all of these, but they were all fantastic. I was really grateful that they let me sample so many! And they also have food. The menu isn't huge but does have some variety, and it's not just basic pub food. I had the ahi tuna crunch bowl and it was pretty good! It kind of had the vibe of stuff thrown together in a poke bowl, but it worked and I thought the fish was done really well. Our waiter was wonderful! He was really friendly and just the right amount of attentive. My friend and I stayed for a while talking after we had paid and he didn't rush us out at all. I've been to the tap many a time - but this particular visit I was focused on the fries. See - I was on a quest to find the best fry in Bloomington. So here's how the tap came out: It was a busy Saturday night. Easy to grab a high top, but being over 30 - it's not fun sitting on a bar stool. That's fine. The service - like I said, they were busy. But one of my friends never even got his drink, and he ended up telling the waitress to cancel it because we were already eating our fries. The fries - - 4 dipping sauces equals 5 stars! Love the ability to try different flavors and find your fav. My fav is the pesto aioli because its unique! I give the seasoning 4 stars, and it was a little heavy handed, and kind of overpowered the sauces. Texture was good, some were a lil soggy, overall they were good! I've had the other food at the tap, and always enjoyed myself. Definitely worth a visit - but be prepared if they're super slammed! read more

Enjoyed a quick couples trip to Bloomington as 40-ish IU alumni and were looking for a walkable bar with great drink selection and good food menu. The Tap delivered both, and our server EJ took great care of us, checking in regularly. We enjoyed all of the beers we tried (which were mostly The Tap house IPAs) and was impressed by the selection. Ambiance was good - we went on a quiet snowy non-game night, but energy was good and it got a little louder around us as the night went. I'd go back if in the area again. read more

Well they keep deleting my review so I keep putting it back up. I came here for my anniversary in 2019. I had the awful waitress named Erica. The receipts to have her name on it in the pictures below. This lady started off okay. I ordered a hamburger with the cheese on the side tell us what the cheese on the side so I could put as much cheese on my stuff as I wanted and it wasn't just slathered on there. I had been here before so I knew how it was. My husband ordered a chicken Caesar salad. We got no refills this whole time. The waitress kept running over to the booth where her boyfriend and all of her other partners were and just talking smack about everybody. Very unprofessional. When I tried to let her know that the cheese was on the burger and all over the tater tots rolled her eyes, whatever I asked for it to me made correctly so then they brought me out a burger with nothing on it just a Patty and a bun no cheese on the side no lettuce tomato pickle onions nothing. Still brought me out another thing of tater tots with cheese on it so I gave up on that. My husband sees our salad was spoiled. You could smell it you could taste it something about that salad was off. We let her know she rolled her eyes again and then went to complain about it to her boyfriend for 20 minutes instead of turning her tables. Normally when there are multiple issues going on at a table you let your boss know or the manager on duty or whatever right? She did not. We were drinking banana beer that they had on the menu which was delicious but we kept having issues with the food. So two and a half hours go by we're ready to leave because obviously they can't make my burger correctly and I can't remake whatever my husband wanted I don't remember at this point. So we get the bill. Erica had charged me for the burger that I had not eaten as well as the chicken caesar salad which we still had on our table untouched with a piece of chicken spit out in a napkin next to it. We asked why they were still on the receipt because we didn't eat them she told us you ordered it you pay for it. I said that's not how it works mind you I am pretty calm at this point because I get that it's a misunderstanding she is not calm. So then I asked for a manager she straight up told me no and walked away and went over to her boyfriend's table. And then proceeded to tell everybody at the table what was going on with my situation, whatever. 30 minutes go by I'm still telling her every time I see her I want to speak to a manager and she's refusing to talk to us at this point. So I get up and I go to the bar and I'm pretty upset at this point but I'm not yelling. I ask for the manager. The guy be on the counter asks what the issue is and I said I'm having a problem with the waitress and the food. So I talk with the manager there's a really tall guy I don't remember his name might be in the original review if you can find it. He had no idea what was going on. So he fixed the bill we just had to pay for the beers. This made the waitress upset. So we put cash down with the receipt. And I'll have you know this irresponsible child of a waitress kept my change. All of it. So I asked her where my change was. She just laughed and walked away so I again ask for a manager I was done at this point. So then she comes up to the table and puts all nickels and pennies on the table in front of the manager. I made the response how childish. And I said that's so weird that this establishment has no quarters at the moment and she said that she would have to go up to the safe that was upstairs. Which was untrue so the manager had a talk with her don't know what was said but so then she never walked upstairs to switch the change out but magically we were able to have quarters in our change again. So then I complained to the manager again how she lied about it and I said I watched her the whole time she never went upstairs she just went over to her boyfriend's table stared at us laughed at us and then walked behind the counter. Let the manager know that we're never coming back this is Despicable at this point how we are being treated. He apologized he said that he would have a really long talk with this person and how he didn't understand why she was acting this way because she has been there for 3 years. I said she's acting this way because her boyfriend and everyone that she's %@^@^@^ is sitting at these booths over here so she's showing off. So obviously we leave no tip. I do the initial review it gets flagged can't use the server's full name okay switched it resubmitted it she flagged it again and then she wrote me a personal message that's on my other post on here. So then I messaged corporate. Then corporate got a hold of me and asked if we would be willing to come back and have a free dinner on them and I believe I said I would think it over but at that point there was no way I was stepping foot back in that place. read more

I have been going there for years and always liked it. Service is good. The beer selection is excellent, of course and they now have seltzers and liquor which is great. The food is pretty good. Fries are always great and their sliders are the best in town. But here is the bad: for the last year or so, the place stinks! I can only describe it as a burnt, rancid grease smell. It permeates the entire restaurant and sticks to clothes and hair. Don't plan on going anywhere afterward because you will stink. Please do something about the ventilation in the kitchen! read more

She told us about the beer samples that this place offers....they brew their beers locally. We tried four of them and my obvious pick was the one with hints of coffee - Night Huntress! We were looking for a quick and easy place for a weeknight dinner and wanted to sit outside. Since we haven't tried The Tap yet, we figured we'd give it a shot. The beer list looked outstanding, but I was driving... I did try a taste of Millions of Peaches, and it was delicious. I really enjoyed the feta dip. Tons of flavor with a hint of heat. Yum. I wish it had come with veggies, but we were at a bar, so ... My daughter had the salmon salad and said it was delicious. Lots of veggies and very fresh. All food arrived except for one order. waitress admitted she forgot to enter the order. She said she would put order in and comp the item. We were satisfied. The food was good but we waited for waitress for utensils and drink refills. Despite the slow surface we were fine until server brought the bill and said her manager would not allow her to comp the meal that she said would be. I asked to see manager and apparently she was to busy and tied up to explain the reasoning. We left our kids at IU and headed home and called the manager later. Good service, Nemesis was personable and offered food and drink suggestions. Of my own choosing, I was not a fan of the Nashville hot chicken sandwich. I expected a dry rub, but the sandwich had too much sauce and was very messy. I added a side of Brussel sprouts without knowing they would be drowning in an unknown and unpleasant sauce. #1 Request - change nothing! Despite appearances of being a small place from the outside, it's anything but. Large dining and bar area with many TVs and a projector over the bar. High top tables in the main dining area bordered by "booth" seating (on the wall sides anyway). I visited recently over the weekend while in town. The beer / drink selection is huge and presented in a manner that's easy to navigate if you're just looking to find just the right one. (There is a regular printed menu and a dynamic wall menu - a nice touch..) The main purpose of my/our visit was the food for a late lunch. The Tap did not disappoint. The toasted bbq chicken, bacon, and cheese paired with seasoned fries were a chef's creation, presented by a friendly and attentive member of the wait staff. My verdict ? I've always loved going to the Tap. They have really good drinks and their pub food is high quality. Their basket of fries is huge, the deep fried green beans are incredible, and I always crave the deep fried cheese curds. Waiters and waitresses have always been nice and although it can get pretty loud the building is nice. Good spot to take some friends. read more

I will start with a positive. The fried green beans and the beer we had were good. The service was absolutely horrible! There were 4 servers/bartenders and 5 customers. Our server would rather do arts and crafts than wait on tables. She basically ignored us the entire time we were there. Finally got our check and she just stood there and never came to get our credit card. We left cash , and no tip. As we left they were arguing about who HAD to take the table that had just came in. Been going to the Tap for every Pacers game, I only live a 5 min walk away, tonight I debated on going somewhere with specials but decided just to go back. I had finished my burger and was eating my fries when I went to the bathroom before the game started, and when I got back, they had cleared my table and given it to someone else. I told them it was my table, I haven't even paid my tab, and was watching the game. Im a 2 yrs sober recovering alcoholic and drink Diet Coke at bars. They said they were too busy and I had to leave. I argued that the table next to me, a guy was drinking water, and a guy had a beer. What if he finished his beer and wanted a Coke? Would they kick them out? They only serve beer, which makes sense considering their name is "tap", which I don't really prefer, over cocktails but that's fine. They have an amazing variety of beer on tap. Went to visit my kid at IU for lunch and she just turned 21 so was really excited to go here for the first time. Seating in the front is kind of junky. First table was really wobbly so we moved. Second table was ok but looked about 20 years old. Trash on the floor and sticky. Waited over 10 minutes for our server to greet us. Really loud with a game on but that's to be expected. Sooooo food was crazy good. And after finally being greeted by our server she did a great job. My daughter tried a fancy raspberry beer. I'm out a big day drinker so I had water. Pretzel sticks for an app with spicy beer cheese. Pretzels were not overly salted or greasy and the cheese was nice and warm. Sliders and steak wrap for meals. Steak wrap was great with really fresh lettuce and tomatoes. Sauce was kind of spicy and really tasty. Came with chips and salsa which is a nice original side. Sliders were cooked perfectly and came with a sweet bacon jam. Nice addition. Daughter really liked the beer. Prices are reasonable and seems like a great place to go watch a game. The French fries were scrumptious per usual. * Hot Honey Mac n Cheese 7/10 much spicier than anticipated. Also thought it's be like ... honey but this really was just a Buffalo sauce on top.
