All comments on the food hold true from my previous 4 star review, but docking a star because the service just has not been great the last few times. It takes a while for anyone to come out to help you after you come in and then they seem unhappy to be having to take your order, and it still takes a while to get the food even when you get something easy like soup. Tasty sandwich shop with a large menu. I got The Vinny Pancini Sandwich. I do recommend it. Very good Italian-style sandwich. I paired it with Sun Chips. I wanted to get an unsweetened tea. The tea container was empty. So I got a Diet Pepsi. The inside is somewhat small. Music was playing...a tiny bit loud but you could still have a conversation. Staff were friendly. Sammiches. And lots of 'em!!!! Very interesting selection of sammiches, basically if you can come up with a combination of stuff to stick between bread slices they probably have it here. And if not they'll probably be able to make it up for you. They make the sammiches when you order and slice the meats then etc to it takes a little time for your sammiches to come out but it's totally worth the wait. It wasn't busy at all when we went in for dinner but I can imagine at lunch time on a Tuesday or something this place would get packed. read more

We almost didn't go here because of the yelp reviews, but we had a friend who swore it was the best sandwich, so we went. It did NOT disappoint. We got their special (because why would you get anything else) and it was STACKED. The bread was soft and flavorful and the toppings were plenty. It was a bit messy but worth every bite. The ambiance is a little dingy, and I wouldn't say it's got great vibes to sit in - but picking up a sandwich for lunch or ordering door dash - I would do it in a heartbeat. Our first place to get a meal while visiting Bloomington was Dagwood's - my partner's request as he's an IU alum. We got metered parking right out front, went inside and ordered. We were the only customers in the restaurant at 6:30pm on the Wednesday evening of Spring Break week. We ordered sandwiches for 5 people and it took about 30 minutes to get them. Given the wait, we left and took a walk. By the time we got back everything was ready. My veggie on croissant was really good. Choice of 3 cheeses, any of the free veggies I wanted and Dagwood's Special Sauce. The sandwich itself was skimpy compared to something I could have gotten at Jimmy John's for the same price. Though you can't get much on a croissant. If you're looking for something OG to Bloomington, Dagwood's is it. If you're looking for something that will fill you up, maybe go elsewhere. Everyone in our group liked their sandwiches. We also purchased a 1/2 dozen of the chocolate chip cookies. They were good, too. The two employees working were friendly and hustling to get sandwiches made. Dagwood's has a huge menu. Overwhelming to someone who's never been there. The sandwich selection was really good and maybe I just chose the wrong sandwich. Everything in theory sounded really good. I ordered the turkey dreamin'. When they say lighter turkey I literally had to look for a turkey. They also mention there's avocado, again I had to look for it. Too much white sauce on it I'm not sure what that was. It was ok but "lighter" amount of turkey I don't think the turkey should get lost in a sandwich that's called turkey dreamin'. Wayyy to much cream cheese. It was about half an inch thick sliced kind of gross. I tossed about 70%. My son ordered Vinny something. He also said it was good but the way it was described he thought they'd be more peppers. He felt like it was just a topping that was kind of thought of. We both liked it enough to maybe give them another shot but now we know to get something that they don't put together and we request what we want. read more

She suggested this place and I thought, "Why not?" It's a cute little place that's a staple on the IU Bloomington campus. I ordered the chicken Parmesan sandwich. They didn't use breaded chicken which I liked; it was real, tender, and had great flavor. The sauce was zesty and not too overwhelming. They used just the right amount of cheese. The sandwich itself was not messy and just the right amount of ingredients. My only suggestion is to warm the bread. Still, it was flavorful and filling. Stopped in here after a quick stroll through campus. I hadn't had a Dagwoods sandwich in nearly 15 years and decided to give it a shot. The food was great, some solid upgrades in bread since the early days of my college career. That sauce is to die for and I'll love it forever. I have to say though: the service was total shit. There were only 2 people in the restaurant at the time and it took at least 15 minutes for us to get sandwiches. We were craving sandwiches and a parking spot was open on Indiana right in front of Dagwood's, so in we went. I had a Hoosier Hoagie and my partner had the turkey club with avocado. We were both very happy with the food, it was tasty and fresh. I would not have minded a bit more meat on my sandwich (other people's photos on Yelp show sandwiches with way more meat...) but it was still delicious.
