Dear Panera, I used to love your food. But these, it bears almost no resemblance to its photos on your menu. Taste and freshness have gone out the window. And my last order was SO unbelievably subpar that I'm reluctant to order anything at all, ever again. To be specific, a chicken salad sandwich contained less than two tablespoons of tasteless mush that resembled mashed-up tuna in texture. I paid -- what? $12.95 or so? -- for a sandwich of that and some lettuce. We can't always take time to complain in the moment. That day, I couldn't. But every time I consider ordering again, I remember, and refrain. This was my second visit to the Panera "Express" in Bedford, MA The first time was bad - they didn't get my on-line order so I was told they'd put it in right away. 20 minutes of pacing later I got it - minus the side salad I ordered. I ordered on-line at 11:51 AM Scheduled for a 12:30 pick up Got my order in hand at 12:54 PM I got there and there were 23 people milling around waiting for their orders - mostly call-ins. Chaos and fighting behind the counter. My name wasn't even on the board for "In Preparation". I figured it happened again and they didn't get the order. Flagged down a ragged man who checked and said it did come in but no one put it on the to do list. He said he'd push it through. 24 minutes of pacing this time. When I left most of the original people were still there and the staff was telling walk-ins it would be about a 40 minute wait. It seems to me that if your business scope is EXPRESS, you should probably figure out why you are FAILING. Hmmm... maybe you need more / better people at lunch time? Oh, and $10 for a Tuna Sandwich? Stopped there with my child for lunch, forgetting that it's not a full Panera. But we were in a hurry. The man at the cash register was visibly ill. He kept apologizing for not hearing my order and pulling his mask down. He said to forgive him for being "under the weather." I made a bad decision to proceed with the order. Grabbed it, headed back to the corporate dining area and he had forgotten my kids lunch. He magically appeared in the dining area to deliver jt to us. Proceeded to say to my son ooops, we were not trying to put you on a diet. And then on his way back, turned around and literally said "oh and don't be worried, it's not Covid. Just a little cold. It shows on this app that they're closed on Sunday. Not true. I'm sitting here now. Tiny place. 6 seats, all at high tops. They(and so did a sign)say that there's more seating in the back. Don't believe them unless you want to eat in an office building lobby. This is the first Panera I've been in that has gotten rid of all the dishes. Everything is served in a to-go form in a paper bag. Not nearly as pleasing as it used to be. Additionally, the portions are much too small for the price. We order from this location as a group at work from time to time, so this is a review in the context of group orders and take out only. Food: Frequently just bad. I know Panera appeals to different people, and some folks at my work like it fine, but honestly the quality is so poor. Rubbery bread (indicating it's been stored incorrectly, or is old, or both) is common. Unripe produce. Way oversalted soups. Indifferent meat. When it's good, it still seems overpriced. (For instance, my $6.20 *half* sandwich with a couple bites of turkey, literally one partial slice of avocado, and definitely no bacon on my turkey avo BLT today.) Service: Pleasant enough workers, but there is ALWAYS something messed up with our order. Someone doesn't get a salad, rolls are left out, sandwich is made incorrectly, side not included, etc. It's pretty unforgivable with an online ordering system--no interpretation problems. We do online group ordering from b.good and Chipotle in Bedford, and very rarely have issues with them vs. *every single time* with Panera. All in all, it's overpriced mediocre food. If you need to eat here or have a huge love of Panera, it does provide sustenance and is a Panera. So there you go. I will never eat here independently, and I am going to start defecting and going to b.good instead when the group orders from here in the future. read more

I don't know what people are complaining about. Hence the "EXPRESS" to the name of the business. This place is not meant to be a restaurant, its a convenient stop, order, and go. For people like myself that don't like to deal with lines out the door, people that cant make decisions when ordering, kids screaming, no place to sit with your food. YOU ORDER AND GO. This app and location are a God send. Working around the Burlington area can be a nightmare with traffic, especially around the holidays and the mall, exits to 95, and so many businesses around. Personally I love ordering my food, picking what time I want to pick it up or have it delivered. All with several clicks of the mouse. Never had any issues with my orders and they are always ready when I go in to pick up. You can order there with a kiosk and they do have people to take orders as well. If you are a techie like myself you can order in the car on your phone and wait for the order to be ready 10 minutes later. More places should adapt this way of "Fast Food" read more

I've been to plenty of other Panera Bread and this one in particular, keeps giving me less and less for my order of a bowl of soup. Today really struck something in me because this place is constantly busy during lunch, so I'm in and out. I open my container of soup and literally looks like a cup "size" instead. Really disappointed that my serving is less and less the more I order from here. I typically don't care and let it go because it's not worth arguing or complaining to a bunch of kids. Today I tried the Panera Express in Bedford, across the street from Mitre. I knew to expect 'kiosk' ordering, and, with my daughter's very specific order in hand, I stepped up to the ordering iPad and started placing my order. She wanted a Chicken Cobb and Avocado salad, full size, without Gorgonzola (sub Feta), and BBQ ranch dressing instead of the herb vinaigrette. There was ample space to put in my specific requests and the platform was pretty intuitive. I placed the order and paid by plastic and waited about 5 minutes for my order to be completed. Pretty simple, eh? THEY FORGOT THE CHICKEN ON THE SALAD!!! Chicken is in the name of the salad. Of course, we were miles away (and my daughter at work) when she discovered this injustice! Kidding aside, Panera, if you're going to go to great lengths to allow your customers to customize their orders, you should also practice quality control that makes sure the order is correct. Orders are usually right for me and I like the touchpad ordering system so I can skip the line and get exactly what I want. Panera is fine on occasion. Their apples are *always* soft and mushy, even here in New England during apple season. The iPhone app is useless to me because it can't handle orders sooner than 15 minutes. This Panera has all the best Panera food, plus fantastic pick-up and the world's best delivery service. They have never been late and often come sooner than seems humanly possible. They are always kind and courteous and have never gotten my order wrong. The food is fresh and delicious, and even when I have soup and salad in the same order, the soup comes very hot and the salad comes cold and crisp. The drivers can find my house, even with the messed-up numbering on our street, and they deliver to my work no problem. The actual location is a pick-up only counter, which is indicated prominently on the outside, and they have ordering kiosks/touchscreen things inside. We bypassed those on the one occasion we went there (I usually have them deliver) since we were the only ones there on a late Saturday morning. The counter lady was courteous and quick. The food was perfect, and their cinnamon rolls were a dollar cheaper and MUCH moister/softer than the ones at the Panera in Chelmsford. We found that there is (very limited) seating inside the office building attached if you head around the side to the back. All in all, a pleasant experience. I'll probably stick with delivery from this particular location, rather than coming in personally, since it isn't close by to anyplace I pass often and there isn't a great place to sit. I highly, I highly recommend ordering online and getting delivery, though. read more

2 Strikes you're out. Not an optimal choice for corporate catering! This past week we ordered lunch for abou 10 before 10am, for. 12:45pm delivery...never arrived! It seems the order was taken and put aside from their website, never started, completed or delivers...2 phone calls later...it was to arrive in 15 minutes...only after being an hour and a half late! What a dump. We almost walked out, figuring it was just an express location, when an employee on her way out assured us there was a dining area. (You had to walk down this weird hall to get to the eating area, in a business plaza, where there were two tables and 2 filthy circa 1987 This-End-Up style couches.) I'm writing this review on Yelp because i have not received a response from Panera's internal communication link and it has been a while. I'm hoping someone at HQ is reading this. Here goes. 1. Ingredients are almost always missing. Here are some items Panera employees have very frequently forgotten on (most of) my orders: Croutons for my creamy tomato soup (almost each and every time), chicken on my salad (how is this even possible??), substituted ingredients are either DRAMATICALLY reduced, mixed up with another order or completely forgotten/left out. 2. The website says that, if orders are messed up, the manager will compensate (non-monetary of course- cookies, etc). I have approached the Bedford manager countless number of times to correct my order. I have not once received an apology (forget courtesy - how are these people managers?? So confusing!) or a cookie for that matter! 3. The following incident happened very recently. As always, I placed my order online and it is usually ready by the time I get there. This one day, they were busy and I can understand that and certainly do not mind waiting. What I cannot understand is why would there be a bunch of employees buzzing around the delivery counter and stare at my order that was ready 10 mins ago? I could see it sitting there on the counter and there were 3 employees who just stood there and did nothing! The manager (I don't know his name so pardon me for this description - he's short and slightly plump) was vigorously distributing orders that were placed waaaaaay waaaaay after I did. For the sake of visualization, Imagine 2 rows of orders- front row consists of orders placed prior to the ones in the 2nd row. The manager completely ignores the 1st row and waits to distribute orders that were recently placed. The 'order screen' doesn't refresh because the d**bags (sorry!) at the counter for some silly, silly reason were staring at what I presume to be online orders. They did absolutely nothing!! N-O-T-H-I-N-G!! Like wow!! 4. Attached below is a picture of a customized soba noodle salad which I got very recently. All I did was replace chicken with Quinoa. What I got was a few sprinkles of the grain. I mean, I don't know if this how Panera is, but why charge an exorbitant amt if you are not willing to provide an edible portion of the replacement ingredient? I ordered HALF a sandwich to be delivered where I work. I have done this multiple times with no problems. I have received no texts regarding my delivery and it has yet to show up. I checked the tracker online, and it continues to say the same thing. I have tried to call the resturaunt FIVE TIMES and no one has answered. I checked my debit card statement and my account was charged!!!!!! Never mind the meal not being delivered, but the lack of customer service not picking up the phone after it rang over FIVE TIMES!
