This was my first time there and I am surprised I haven't heard more people talking about it. I stopped in a little after 9:30pm to meet up with the rest of the group of 6 on a Saturday night. I didn't realize until I got there that my cousin's cousin who is a friend was actually bartending so that was a nice surprise because he's got a lot of experience. Our server was really nice and came up to our high top as I was looking over the drink menu to let me know that the kitchen would be closing soon in case we wanted to order any food but we had all already eaten. I do kind of wish that I had looked over the food menu though because some of the last plates I saw being served for the night looked pretty good. Both the server and our friend did a great job of checking in throughout the night with our party and the others. This was the same night as the Pride Celebration in Aurora that was literally just outside on Stolp Ave but it wasn't very busy for a while but a good amount of people trickled in for a nightcap after the show at the Paramount let out. The 2 drinks I had were really good. The first one was the featured cocktail: Naughty Nellie's Nectar which was a great Tiki-esque drink with spiced rum and bitters mixed with various fruit juices including passion fruit, guava, pineapple, and lime. It was right up my alley so I was a little sad when I went for a second one and the bartender said that they had run out of some of the ingredients but that he would make me the other drink on the menu that's similar, the Twilight Tixi. I liked that one a lot too. What really made the night great though was the chill and relaxing ambiance of the space. The nice lighting gave the mood of a mix between lounge, restaurant and bar. The music was good and although they had the TV above the bar playing the last game of the NBA finals it was not the focal point. I'm looking forward to more fun nights at Arthouse in the future.

So delicious. I'd say the steak could have used a little more of a crust but overall was still really yummy. The service is always wonderful, tonight Poncho was working and he always remembers my drink and makes my friends feel welcome. If you haven't been before the ambiance is really great. At that point, I explained that the $2 difference was not the issue it was the poor customer service and dishonest communication that mattered. I learned my lesson and unfortunately will not be returning to this establishment.

I then watch them trying to figure out how to make my cold brew in a giant pitcher with tap water from a sink in the back. I watch them measuring out cloudy tap water and reading instructions on how to make it. Meanwhile they are also confused on how to make my husbands caramel macchiato. At one point one of them is smelling the coffee cup. This was all a little concerning but ok whatever. Then we get our food. It was not great but again, whatever. My cold brew was warm and murky and had just a few ice cubes floating in it. My husband was afraid to even try his coffee as when he received it I found this thick black hair in the other half of my panini. My husband mentions this to the woman who brought his coffee and she was nice and took it away and asked if we wanted something else. We were very grossed out and asked can they just refund the pancakes because they still weren't ready and we were just ready to leave. She was nice and said ok but then nobody had any idea how to give a refund. She had to call someone to refund us. We then left and I'm reading the receipt and she didn't refund us she had refunded someone else who had the same table number. I had to call back and tell her she didn't refund the right person or entree. She asked if we could come back but I really didn't want to waste any more time in there. She was very nice and apologetic and called me back and had refunded our entire order even though we just asked for the pancakes to be refunded as they hadn't come out. We will not come back though. This was pretty gross. It takes a lot for me to say something to the staff and not just suffer in silence. This was pretty bad. They really need to train their staff. Making coffee that's on their regular menu should be pretty second nature. Not having hair in the food is also a reasonable expectation. Gross.

I liked that the s'kug and harissa hot sauces were available to add on the side and that the bowl comes with a pita if you want. I added the Naf fries as my free item. First thing I noticed when I grabbed my order was just how hefty the bag felt. I could tell I had a nice serving of food just from the weight but I figured it'd be mostly rice. As I dug through the bowl I was very pleased to find that it was actually perfectly balanced with good amounts of everything throughout. The bowl had so much in it in fact that I was able to share a third of it with my parents to try when I got home and still have a generous amount leftover for myself to enjoy. Bette than the portions was the great taste of everything. The chicken shawarma meat is nicely seasoned and combined with the spicy hummus and Moroccan sauce to already give the bowl great flavor but being able to add the harissa and s'khug to different bites made it all the better. All the produce tasted fresh and crispy too. Loved the pickles and the fries are really good too.
