Sunday 10am wasn't too bad. 10-15 min wait. Get a buzzer that will buzz when your table is ready. We were seated at the booth, but had lots of ppl walk by as the pathway was to the kitchen and bathrooms. Bathrooms were clean and there is a trash can by the door, so you can open the door and throw the paper towel away. They give you a small pitcher of water to refill yourself. I had ordered coffee and they gave you a small coffee kettle to refill yourself too. Which was nice, since weekends are usually really busy and you don't need to find someone to refill your drinks. The have creamer on the table, but they do offer almond milk for 75 cents. Had the West coast crepes, since I wanted something light. The crepes had a hint of sweetness and the hollandaise came in a small cup, so you can pour on top yourself. The avocados and ingredients were fresh. Had a side of hashbrowns and it was crispy on the outside and soft inside. You did have the option to choose a different side if you didn't want the hashbrown. At first I thought we misunderstood since he had an accent.... And misspoke... but rudeness and shaming was undeniable for the first 15 minutes of interaction. My friends wanted to leave but knowing they have plenty of gluten free options I said we should stay and work through this. After much encouragement to ask the chef (the waiter's response was maybe it has gluten in it).... He came back and said the item can be made gluten free (it was a Mexican eggs Benedict ) Anyways I'm pretty sure he had a crappy morning and took it out on me.... We came after the morning rush.... That's what I hope~ Otherwise we enjoyed our breakfast... this interaction stays in my mind... since almost every waiter(s) understand gluten free is generally due to medical and not a fad diet.... It's unreal to see this type of interaction when food can make a person sick... think of wheat/gluten as rat poison to someone who has celiac. No it's not going to kill me.... but it does make me sick with pain (it swells my abdomen / inflammation which hurts and makes it hard to breathe plus it increases my chance of cancer recurrence. We visited this Honey Jam location for the first time mid-morning on a Wednesday. It was not too busy. Our drinks were brought promptly. Our server was personable and efficient with the order. However, he was not around to refill drinks and bring the check in a timely fashion. Our food came out quickly. All 3 of our orders needed to be returned to the kitchen as they were incorrect. They were corrected right away. The food was good once we received the correct food. The restaurant appeared fairly clean, and the noise level was acceptable for conversation. I would offer the following suggestion to the food runner- check the food and tickets carefully before bringing the food out. I made a deal with my kids: if they were good at the dentist's office, I'd bring them out to breakfast in the community. We all love breakfast! It was our first time at Honey Jam (formerly Butterfield's; I submitted a change request, but supposedly it didn't seem legit to Yelp Staff??) Unfortunately, even though we arrived very early and there were only a few other patrons, service was so poor. It was me and my two toddlers (almost 4 and 5.5). I asked for extra napkins. Our server was stingy on them, even after my request, bringing out TWO. TWO extra napkins. Seriously?! The kids each ordered M&M pancake meals, which were OK. I ordered a skillet and a side of sausage links. Unfortunately, the sausages were all charred. Service continued to be really spotty. We came earlier on a Sunday morning and found the place to be lively. The staff was energetic and the customers were varied (from young families to older folks). After being greeted and seated without delay we settled in to survey the menu. They have quite a selection and, to be honest, it all sounds good. Naturally I had an Eggs Benedict, which was served with a healthy heap of hash browns (made crispy, just the way I like them). All the food, in fact, was tasty as reported by the rest in our group. I want to touch back on the staff. Not only were they friendly but they wasted no time with anything: seating, taking orders, making and serving food. Really great service here. The only, and I mean ONLY, downside is the music. After seeing it mentioned by another reviewer it stood out to me: they play 80's music but... for early on a Sunday it's just a bit too much. After paying our check and departing we all agreed: they did well on the execution here at Honey Jam Cafe and we'd be interested in returning again in the future. read more

Good food and great service! We visited around 8am on a Sunday morning and were seated promptly. Someone stopped by to drop off our water and then our server appeared with menus. They have a drink menu leaning toward the brunch crowd and alcoholic drinks, but we just wanted coffee and it was served quickly. The food menu has breakfast and lunch options but nothing specifically marked gluten free. GF toast is available for an upcharge and eggs are naturally GF but this is not a spot if you have celiac. Our food was hot and fresh. My bowl of fruit seemed on the small side but my GF toast was great! Hubby enjoyed the special he got and they didn't rush us out the door. There's plenty of parking. The inside is clean as well as the restrooms. They had 80s music cranked which I found kind of annoying. The food took over 30 minutes to come out which is understandable if it's good food, however my chicken was extremely hard to chew, like it was old. I've had better KFC in the past and I don't even like KFC. Most expensive sandwich on the menu and it was incredibly mediocre. Pickles were good. My partners French toast was very soggy and burnt on one side. She didn't finish it. I asked for a side of mayo 3 times before I received it. Every once in a while I come to Honey Jam and get their nutella crepes. They are super delicious and the service is great. They are often busy so they are rushing but still make time to be pleasant. The restaurant itself is nice but a little bit cramped. But not too bad. I would recommend if you're looking for some good nutella crepes. read more

There were 4 tables of People that came in after us got their food before we were we even ordered. Could not find our waitress ?? Getting a 2nd cup of coffee was difficult, Food arrived lukewarm ! Orders were incomplete- had to request 4 times to get the rest of the order. Also when the toast arrived there was MOLD on it. No response from wait staff just took it & left table. Had breakfast at the Honey Jam in Wheaton this morning, two sausage links, two eggs and hash browns with rye toast 13.95, plus coffee and orange juice. Five dollars for an un drinkable, bitter, small glass of orange juice, never got a coffee refill as well. Additionally, the toast was not toasted or buttered. Relatively small portions, my wife had a omelette, the bill with tip was $45.78 for two people. Honey Jam needs to do better. read more

Our family loves Butterfields and frequently one for breakfast! It seems since it's under new management it's doing ok, but you can definitely feel the change. Luckily the food is still excellent, and there's plenty to choose from. I've enjoyed the omelets, scramblers, breakfast sandwiches and more. I've never been disappointed with my food. This restaurant is a very good place for breakfast. The location in front of a suburban strip plaza, though non-descript, is easy to find and excellent for parking. The facility is spacious and offers a nice place to sit for a meal. The menu provides several rather tempting breakfast choices. On the occasion of our last visit on a Saturday morning, we were seated after a six- or eight-minute wait. This sort of delay is not unusual as it is typically quite busy from my understanding. Our server attended to us fairly quickly and did a decent job of taking care of us, particularly considering her work load. The four of us in our party opted for the Ham and Cheese Crepes, the Eggs Benedict, the Cinnamon Chip Pancakes and Traditional Pancakes. All of these were quite tasty. The final bill including drinks, tax and tip was about $18 per person, which was what I would expect for such a restaurant in that sort of location. This place is close to my son's house so I expect to visit again...and I will look forward to it. read more

Larger Group? BEWARE! On Monday, July 5th our larger party of 12 had breakfast at 9 am at the Rice Lake Butterfield's. What a disappointment! RESERVATIONS: Although they don't take reservations I attempted to let them know about our large group several times. I called two weeks prior and was told to "call closer to the date." Last week, I called and a disinterested worker answered, merely repeating the party lines "We don't take reservations" and "it's first come, first serve." Yes, yes, I get that. However, after a holiday weekend, I just wanted to make sure they had enough staff on hand to accommodate us. I also went IN PERSON on Saturday July 3rd and was reassured that it would be fine. In fact, the manager had the worker write it down. REMINDER: I called on July 5th at 8:30 to "remind them" that a large party would be arriving at 9 am. I got there at 8:50 and saw no accommodations (tables pushed together for a large group) and was admonished by the hostess that, "We thought you were arriving at 9 am." A CLEAR admonishment that I was early. (What the heck? At 8:50 THEY should have been pushing tables together!) Instead, shortly after 9 am, the staff began pushing tables together, even having to ask a couple with a child to move so they could have their table too. Once the tables were together, I began (that's right, me...the customer) began laying down silverware (wrapped in paper) and putting menus down. THE SEATING: By that time, it was 9:15 and most of our party (several who had canes/mobility issues) were still waiting to be seated. After being seated, the wait time for ordering food was extremely long compared to the other tables. In spite of the fact that ALL of us were present, most tables seated after us had already GOTTEN their food before we even ordered! THE ORDER: Our order came out around 10:15. My meal was fine, albeit expensive. ($5.99 for a side of bacon which is merely 4 strips and $4.99 for a half avocado sliced.) One person in our party had biscuits and gravy which she said was excellent. ("The best she's ever had!") THE SERVICE: Due to the size of our party, a few "sides" like toast didn't come with the main courses, which is understandable. But, when one of our party gently inquired about the toast asking, "I thought toast came with this?" the waitress responded with a diatribe about how, "I couldn't fit everything on my tray. So, I am going back into the kitchen now to get the sides of toast and fruit!" Her tone was exasperated, like we were the worst group ever. She was passive aggressive the entire time, pretending not to see us when folks wanted a coffee refill etc. OVERALL: Apathetic staff, unfriendly servers, unprepared to accommodate larger groups read more

Brittany the supervisor there is the worst. She makes no attempt to resolve situations and passes the blame. Either she or one of her staff handed my order to the wrong person and when the grub hub driver arrived they claimed a driver already picked it up. she was extremely rude and had the attitude of not my problem even though she or her staff had given my food to the wrong person. I have been to several of the Butterfields/Honey Jam restaurants to dine in and typically have a great experience, however the delivery/carry out experience leaves much to be desired. More than once they have left out a side of hash browns or pancakes. I have reached out to the restaurant directly through email and never received a response. Unfortunately with two babies at home I can't always "dine in." Today I ordered my favorite crepes through door dash and the avocado garnish was completely brown... Yuck! (if I was dining in I imagine a good server would have fixed this before bringing it to the table). Also, my order was placed at 7am, it wasn't confirmed by the restaurant until at least 20 minutes later (my receipt says 7:35), and the driver didn't get my food until closer to 8:00am. One nice thing this restaurant does is that they bring a pitcher of water to the table. Our order was taken in a timely manner. My wife ordered steak and eggs. I ordered the Artichoke Frittatas; it was made with artichokes, garlic, onions, spinach, tomatoes, parmesan cheese and herbs. I love artichokes and the frittatas was stuffed with them so I was a happy camper! We both enjoyed our meals very much. I've been here only a handful of times. Food is good, atmosphere is good, but it gets 3 stars because of the womens bathroom. If I could rate the bathroom itself it would get not even half a star. It's completely disgusting and smells absolutely terrible. I would suggest staying away from the bathroom if you can. I gag every time I walk in because of the strong horrible odor. They definitely need air fresheners, and ALOT of them! I've mentioned to them before but they didn't seem to care that the bathroom was dirty. My husband said the mens bathroom was fine. In these trying times we are looking to support local businesses when we can. We had a hankering for omelettes and pancakes and this place is open for delivery early morning. Score! It was our first time trying it and the food was OK. I got the Denver omelette. My omelette was kind of sitting inn a watery puddle. I'm not sure what that was- maybe some condensation from the container? But it really was a puddle and my husbands wasn't like that. That detail, plus it's semi sloppy appearance made it a little less appetizing. But the taste was actually pretty good and It was big enough for two portions. The pancakes were light and fluffy. They were great! We opted for fruit on the side which I included grape, pineapple, strawberries, blueberry, honeydew and cantaloupe. Overall a pretty good fruit mix. My omelette cost $12+, which is definitely more than I'm used to paying. I think i would explore other options in the area before returning hear since that omelette didn't blow me away. read more
