Now I'll be honest, walking in, I wasn't exactly sold. Dimly lit restaurants and I have a complicated relationship. I like to see my food before I commit to it. But once I got settled in, the atmosphere was actually pretty cozy and inviting. What immediately impressed me was the service. This place was packed, yet our appetizers arrived within minutes. Not only were they fast, but they were genuinely delicious. That's the kind of first impression I can get behind. Our waiter Lupe was absolutely wonderful. Friendly, well-spoken, constantly smiling, and knowledgeable about the menu. When we asked for recommendations, he didn't miss a beat. We love an educated server, it makes all the difference. Now for the main course. I ordered the patty melt, and unfortunately, it just wasn't my favorite. The smell threw me off a bit, and the sandwich itself ended up tasting both soggy and burnt at the same time, with the flavor lingering longer than I would've liked. It happens. Thankfully, the fries came to the rescue. Crispy, flavorful, and exactly what I wanted. But the true star of the evening? That cookie skillet. Baby, THAT was my real dinner. Warm, gooey, fresh from the oven, topped with the perfect amount of melting ice cream. I practically forgot I had ordered anything else. So while my patty melt and I may not be speaking anymore, the excellent service, speedy kitchen, delicious appetizers, amazing fries, and that heavenly cookie skillet made this a great experience overall. I visited Fireside Grille with a family group of four for a recent Saturday lunch. It was not my choice of venue; I had been there a couple of times some years ago and was not impressed. If anything, it was less impressive this time... The service was OK. The greeter was cordial and got a good booth. (They do not take reservations for small parties, but allow you to call ahead and they'll try to have a table ready.) our server was attentive and efficient, if a bit brusque. Food came without delays. Food was the big disappointment. My salad was limp and the honey/mustard dressing was too sharp and did not taste good. Blackened haddock would have been OK, but was dreadfully salty. Fries were OK. Another diner said the Reeuben was gloppy and falling apart. There's a compact but decent selection od beers on draft. I won't be back -- the food was too disappointing. If I had a do-over, I'd have lobbied group to go to Hardware in North Aurora -- close and much better food. read more

our service was great. I have been there lunch and food was enjoyable. Wanted to take my hubby there for a great meal. fireside has a large menu to select from. our salad was not fresh seemed wilted. Not a good start. i ordered the puck 2 and had the breaded shrimp and a broasted pork chop. I enjoyed the shrimp and had an interesting adventure with my chop. I could not Cut it - had a steak knife and I am not a weakling. it was embarrassing and when I shared the situation with the server, she shared she could take it to the kitchen so they could cut it. Once back and cut into pieces, I was able to eat And the chop tasted great. I thought roasting was to tenderize the meat and keep the outside coating crispy - not the case on my chop. Food & service here are consistently good. In recent years they have really started skimping on the asparagus in the pasta... which for me is disappointing... but I'll ask for extra next time. This restaurant sat on our list for a number of years before we finally decided to have dinner here last night. Fireside has a fairly large menu, but there's a huge catch. They only have one menu, and the first few pages are lunch only, and only available until 4pm. It's labelled as such, but why let patrons see a lunch menu after 4pm? Removing the lunch menu reduced the menu in less than half. Pricing here is on the high side, and in many cases, egregious. Trying to keep the bill in check, I had the Santa Fe chicken sandwich. That was a chicken breast with one slice of melted cheese. I had to ask for barbeque sauce to give it some life, otherwise it would have been tasteless. My wife ordered nachos. Most of those were burnt and she said they were pretty muted as well. Many items on the menu sounded good, but between the prices and dinner that we had, I would only return to give their lunch menu a whirl, which had a lot of choices that were more up my alley. Our first visit to this restaurant was this past Saturday for dinner. At around 6 P.M. we were greeted and seated promptly. This is a busy place but it's easy to talk/relax over your drinks and meal. Our server Jesus walked us through the specials from memory, took our drink and dinner order promptly! I realize some servers check in on you too often or not enough. He was spot on with everything I look for in great service. I had the petite filet and my wife had wings and saganaki. I ordered my steak medium well and for the first time in a long time it came out perfectly prepared. Nice seared outside and pink in the middle. All food, service and drinks were wonderful! Our waiter was excellent. The food was okay but within an hour of leaving I was in the washroom. The place is cozy & they are generous with their portions. The women's bathroom had a clogged toilet in one stall, another stall had absolutely no toilet paper on either sides & only one of two soap dispensers had soap. The hostess was also brushing her hair behind the desk while I was walking to the bathroom. read more

Comfort food at its finest! American fine dining. First time ordered the blackened haddock fish dinner along with the apple martini and had the saganaki and mozzarella wedges for apps. The food portions were alot so wasn't able to squeeze jn dessert. The second was a birthday celebration and ordered the Cajun pasta which definitely has a kick to it with the baked potato soup. I'm giving this place 1 star because 0 isn't an option. Ok where do I begin. The French onion soup-- obviously pre made because the bread was so soggy it was disintegrating in the soup. It was so full of onions that is was unbearably sweet. Cheese ratio was good on it though. The salmon.... Tasted so fishy. It had a tinge to it. We ordered the Thai sweet chili and oh boy was in the worse sauce I ever had on a protein. It was super sweet and unpleasant but it was a nice portion of salmon I just couldn't enjoy it. The ribeye was just ok. They were out of mashed potatoes which I wanted load so I got a loaded potato which came out cold. Cheese was unmelted and it was drowning in chives. We held my father's Celebration of Life at Fireside Grille, and I can't say enough good things about our experience. When the manager, Zach, learned the reason for our gathering, he immediately went out of his way to make it possible even though the private room were already reserved. The entire team was wonderful to work with, the food was absolutely amazing, and everyone kept commenting on how delicious everything was. Our server, Lupe, was superb as always as well as the rest of the staff. Everyone was attentive, kind, and professional. I highly recommend Fireside Grille for any celebration or special occasion. My family and friends have been coming here for several years. My wife, son and I stopped off for an early dinner today, March 07, 2026. Before today I loved this establishment, and could not say enough good things about it but I can't not express how disappointed I am with my simple meal and the response from the owner about a concern I had and not being happy with my meal. I had Chicken Nachos, that I have had 4 times in the last 3 months. The Nachos had canned cheese on them, the type you get at your kids school or a cheap fair. This is the first time that the Nachos have had canned cheese on them and when I mentioned this to the waiter he took them from me and said he said he would say something to his manager/ owner. the owner came to our table and said sorry, you were not happy with the Nachos. I explained that they had canned cheese on them and I did not like them like that. He said that oh, sorry about that everyone loves them and walked away! Yes that is right walked away! Not how can we fix it, what can we do to make you happy, but just walked away! As the steam came out of my ears the waiter came over and asked if he could get us anything else, and I said just the check. The check came back with the full charge of all of our meals including the Nachos that I took one bite out of! My wife at that point said something and they took it off the gift card that my sons girlfriend had given us because she knew how much we liked Fireside and how often we went there. Well not anymore! We had my wife's 50th birthday here with many family members, and loved it. But I am sorry to say we will not be back because any business owner should be take time to figure out why a customer is not happy and how they can fix it so they want to come back and the owner of Fireside does not appreciate our business. Normally I would be writing a really great review. On my most recent trip, when I out for dinner with my mom, everything was great but the server took our food and packaged up the leftovers himself. Now a few days later I go to have my left overs and my baked potato is gone. I barely ate any of it at dinner. My mom said hers was also missing from her leftovers as well. What's the point of leftovers if they are going to throw out your food that we paid for. Very frustrating. Food is always consistent, and servers are "seasoned" definitely have been around and are knowledgeable!! This makes a huge difference in the restaurant business! Having a " perceptive server ". means the world to most customers no matter the cost. A truly good bartender or server knows how to read their customers . We live in SG and Fireside Grill is always a go-to on a Sunday evening. I ordered the prime rib dinner and husband had the cod special. Both were delicious and portions were good sized. I like the options for sides, and in particular, the sweet baked potatoes. Our order was to go and I sat at the bar, had a beer, waiting for my food. The bartender was super nice. He told me his name, and I think it was Brad? Either way, came in on a Sunday evening, 9/7 around 6:00 pm. Fireside Grill has a great menu and their food is always great. Food portions large enough to take some home also. Choice of two sides with Entrees still. There's also a large bar with sports on TV if that's your thing, but the place is big enough that you don't feel that you're sitting in a sports bar when you're down at the other end of the restaurant. Service was super friendly, almost like being at a grandma's house for dinner where she just loves to take care of you and pamper you. Sort of an old southern feeling of hospitality which was nice. The portions here are MASSIVE and it looked like we barely touched our food and the waitress seemed concerned we didn't eat enough, LOL! The fresh bread was a huge loaf with fresh, soft butter. The salads were fresh greens and also a decent portion. The creamy garlic was good. We ordered the broasted pork chop with bbq and the french onion meatloaf. Both entrees were with a sweet potato with cinnamon/sugar/butter and a massive mound of green beans. The pork chops were butterflied and it seemed almost like there were 4 massive pieces. The french onion meatloaf was flavorful and it was 2 huge cuts of meatloaf. The sweet potato was really good, but the green beans were super bland. Definitely not bad, but for the price I expected was a little bit more. Parking is kind of tight. We did not have reservations but they were able to seat us in about 30 minutes. The service was very attentive and portions are large. We ordered a burger and a loaded potato plus a salmon plate. The food was Okay. Big portions but that's the only positive thing I can really say. They have a big menu so the quality of food is so so. They were very busy but I guess if your the only restaurant in town and don't have options I guess this is the place to go. Maybe I'll be back to try something else on the menu and maybe I'll be able to update my review. The place is pretty clean and the people are really nice wish the food was better. read more
