I use to eat at Panera when visiting family in NJ. Liked it then. This visit was for a to-go order. Green goddess cobb salad was just ok. The baguette was a small piece of bread ripped off the end of a loaf. The salad dressing was a variation on a theme of other dressings, nothing to celebrate. There was enough for 2 to share. I've had better cobb salads at other chains. Friday's has a nice cobb salad. The store was quiet with only a few seats occupied at 4p. read more

What arrived was a side green salad with lettuce, three tomatoes and two barely recognizable pieces of chicken. No egg, no bacon ... nothing that would qualify as Cobb ingredients. The lettuce itself was so sad that it barely qualified as a salad! In the same order I ordered a blueberry bagel. This bagel became our evening entertainment as it was so stale that not one of our party of four could cut this item without risk of an emergency room visit. It was finally accomplished with a hacksaw! Really Panera? This is acceptable to serve? Having been an almost weekly customer at my previous home in Va Beach it is very unlikely I will ever visit this location again and would discourage others who are used to a quality Panera product from visiting here! read more

Been going here for 10 years and it's by far the nastiest, dirtiest Panera I've ever seen and I've been to dozens in the tri state area. The staff always seem angry and miserable and the floors are filthy; the bathrooms gross, outdoor and indoor furniture damaged and falling apart. I am a convinced after coming here for so many years they only clean the place at the end of shift. It's just disgusting that any owner of a franchise can look at themselves in the mirror and think they are running a reputable Panera. I did not care for but then again I'm not a Panera bread fan. I have tried numerous Panera's and I've always been let down. I just came to this one for lunch and I had a BLT. I had the same issues that I have every Panera I go to. And that issue is just that to me the food is on the bland side and doesn't really have much of a taste. I know that many will disagree with me on that and I guess I would say if you're a fan of Panera you'll probably like it here and if you don't like Panera you won't like it here. I find most of them to be very similar in the set up and in the food choices and the taste of the food. TruE to form, I really didn't like my sandwich. I found that the bread was very bland and the whole sandwich was sort of tasteless. I'm also really not a big fan of the atmosphere here. Panera Bread catered a small picnic for a group to which I belong. On the plus side, Panera was prompt in delivering the 20 or so meals, and everything was well packaged and arrived in good condition. People seemed to enjoy some of the picnic meals, especially the "steak and arugula" sandwiches, which were fresh and tasty, but other meals, such as the Cobb salad, weren't up to snuff (they didn't include bacon and other condiments you expect on a Cobb salad), and some of the cookies with the meals were undercooked. read more

This is the 3rd time now that none of the modifications to my order were done and ingredients missing. Ordered a smoky buffalo chicken melt with extra sauce and extra red onions. It had very little sauce and no onions at all. Very skimpy on the chicken as well. This has been my third complaint and the issues with those making the orders does not get corrected. I also ordered a flatbread pizza with extra sauce and extra basil. No extra sauce and 3 small little flakes of basil. The manager has offered to remake the sandwiches, which I had taken up in the past, but after a third time of getting my order wrong, I will no longer be coming back to this Panera location. French onion soup without cheese, horrible, the tuna sandwich tasted like someone dropped a salt shaker on it and, the way the bag was packed resulted in all of the bagels falling on the floor as you try to open the bag. The new part was no Swiss and you needed a search party for the ham. I order a soda but no one tells the cashier the machine is broken. The 45 minutes we were there they never did put a sign on the machine nor did they tell the cashier. Talked with the manager about the whole fiasco and she admitted she knew the machine was broken. I ordered my food (two soups, one sandwich, and a half-gallon of tea) through their website so I could pick it up in store. I was quoted ten minutes. I waited 15 to give the store the benefit of the doubt before I went inside because it never told me that my food was ready. When I arrived, there were three other people waiting for online orders also. One had told me he had been waiting over 30 minutes. The store was not busy and they had three employees available to assist us. I watched the manager take the bag for my order (with my name on it) and slam it on the front desk, loudly exclaiming for her employees and the entire restaurant to hear: "WE DON'T HAVE SOUP THIS EARLY AND WE NEVER WILL!" It was 10:45AM. Their website did not inform me of this. So I then watched her teenage employees scramble trying to figure out what to do with my order which was missing two items. After now 35 minutes of waiting, I was called to the register and told that they don't make soup before 11:00. At this point it WAS 11:00 but whatever. I was ready to get out of there. So I said, "that's fine just refund me for the two soups." Which they did. They didn't have my half-gallon of tea ready so I had to wait for them to dig an EMPTY half-gallon container out of the back somewhere and hand it to me. The server told me I could fill it up at the tea station. Well what do ya know, I filled it up half way and the tea I paid for was out. (Also why am I doing this myself? I ordered online.) The food is way overpriced and I don't mind paying for some good food but if you're going to give me a sandwich with 90% bread. For the love of god at least make the bread good. The soup I got was luke warm and was about 80% broth. The bacon/tomato/cheese sandwich was bland because there was a piece of cheese on it about the size of a half dollar. I got a free pastry and went with the cinnamon roll and it was the only good thing I had. Although it didn't taste much different than the ones you can get at the grocery store in the boxes. There were two employees to do five employees' work. Consequently, the tables were filthy and most of the coffee was empty. They handled their situation with grace and class and did manage to put out excellent food in spite of it all, but the fat cat owners really need to pay employees enough so someone will actually work for them. Their sign says "up to $15 per hour," but their best employees are making $12 an hour to work themselves into the ground. In Asheville, the average one bedroom apartment is $1200 a month. At $12 per hour, a full time employee makes $480 a week. That means they take home around $385 if they're lucky. When you take home slightly less than $1600 a month, it's pretty hard to pay $1200 of it in rent. Pay your people enough to live and you'll have enough employees to have a restaurant that is up to Panera Bread's standards. You certainly charge enough money that you can afford to pay your workers a living wage. read more

Placed a curbside order and left a tip on the app for the person bringing the order out to my car. I was notified on my app that my order was ready. I did exactly as the app instructed when I arrived at the restaurant. - I tapped the "I'm here" and waited...and waited...and waited. I was the only person using curbside. I finally went inside the restaurant to get my order and was told there was NO curbside pickup available. So, long story short- I "gave" myself a generous tip myself to go into the restaurant to retrieve my order. I called to speak to a manager and was told- sorry but they can't reimburse for a tip. Panera is a great place for quality yet inexpensive food. They also have many different options for vegetarians and their menu really does try to incorporate many different fresh ingredients. I ordered a simple tuna sandwich, fruit cup and an oatmeal raisin cookie and it was a great sit-down meal where I enjoyed my food. Nothing really stood out and everything was pretty average. My friend ordered the Mediterranean chicken flatbread sandwich and really enjoyed it so I recommend trying that if that sounds interesting to you. The service was okay. I asked an employee about some of the items on the menu and she didn't seem to know exactly what to say...maybe she was just nervous? The employees weren't super friendly they had forgotten to give us our chocolate croissant and when I asked the lady that handed us our food she asked someone else who acted like it was a super inconvenience. I got a turkey sandwich and chips and chips my daughter got chicken noodle soup which was more broth than anything and a hot chocolate and it was $26 and some change.
