The flavors in the Gyro were phenomenal, with perfectly cooked meat, a soft pita, and excellent hummus. I haven't found an enormous amount of Middle Eastern cuisine in Asheville, but this place brought…read morethe vibe. It's small and unassuming in a strip mall in West Asheville. My takeout was ready on time. While the falafel roll still might have been better fresh, I wanted something that I could plausibly eat several hours later on a mountain without a ton of restaurants nearby, and that choice worked out well. Many falafel rolls come with add-ons that I don't like, but the pickled turnip offering here was both flavorful and colorful. I also got their fries, drizzles with tahini and parsley, which is a good way to eat fries. A case of baked goods and a small market section of canned items were also available. There was certainly space to eat inside or out for someone without my travel schedule. It's also notable that in addition to the usual falafel, they offer ample vegan options as befits the Asheville community, including a house seitan and some other vegetable and fake meat options. I was happy with what I got, but the choice is always appreciated.

The flavors were an absolutely beautiful Middle Eastern combo, and taking it Suzy's Way added a slight kick to the flavor. The pita was properly warmed as well. Overall, this is where to go if you've got a seriously empty stomach and are craving Middle Eastern cuisine.

Having worked…read moreyears back in a traditional Greek Kitchen and accostumed to the taste and quality of the food, I can say that the food was not bad at all, but I expected a bit more flavor and the gyro meat not to be dry as it was. The tzatziki was the best thing of our four orders. I will add that not all plates on the menu online they have upon your arrival and I know and it is stated when you order that the meal is cooked to order, still, the order took over 25 min. to get, during this time we can see both cooks in front of us just talking and cracking jokes while they moved slowly around the kitchen. We did not ask for anything extraordinary and probably the slow hands from the cooks it was got us dry food at our table... I will add that some customers had two big dogs in front of us, one of which was aggressive to some of the other customers and while I understand the place is dog friendly and we love dogs, this one was making everyone nervous and the owner instead of doing something about it, just talked to the owners about the pets like nothing was happening, I guess you can't read the crowd in this sense.

I was starving and saw their booth and a chalkboard of menu options I've never tried or heard of before. I approached and when asked what I would like, I was honest that I was unfamiliar with their cuisine but I trusted them. They asked how I wanted it and I said "how you would eat it! They made me the most incredible meal that has ever passed my lips. I followed Habibi Village on their Instagram so I could chase that high- and boy did I. I NEEDED more of that unique deliciousness. But I was saddened that I was only able to get their Za'aatar once or twice a week and had to travel to multiple spots around the city to a variety of markets and at such limited hours. It is with all of the joy in my heart to support Habibi Village at their brick-and-mortar location as they have grown to a full time spot. Their owner absolutely POURS his soul and spirit into this business and into every meal he serves the community. Plenty of restaurant owners love what they do and love their patrons but this owner stands above and beyond when it comes to passion. This gentleman cares about his food and his patrons on a deep and genuine level that you feel and taste. I clearly can't praise Habibi Village enough. Thank you for what you do for our community and our bellies!
