In search of good food places in Rome, my boyfriend and I used the Yelp app to find cafes and restaurants that other users recommended. Pane and Vino was one of the top rated cafes in Rome so naturally we had to check it out. The restaurant is located in close proximity to the Colosseum. Naturally, upon arrival, we discovered that the cafe was busy and there was a line out the door. Additionally, there were many tourists, both Italian and foreign, looking at the menu outside. The menu is displayed on the front window. The cafe offers sandwiches and drinks. Each sandwich is named after an emperor, which is pretty cool. We ordered the porchetta sandwich and one of the veggie sandwiches which was in a red bun. These sandwiches are slightly on the expensive side but absolutely incredible. The flavours are very unique and you will want to go back for more. Don't be afraid to go here because it's in such a touristy area. In yelp we trust! I highly recommend Panne and Vino. read more

Great sandwich and conversation with the owner Fabio! We were coming from the Coliseum and Yelped this place. The beer selection was also really good and paired well with the sandwich of choice. Super close to the Coliseum/Palantine Hill. Highly recommend and will be back! read more

Omg! So good!! Perfectly spiced pork roast, lettuce, tomatoes, grilled egg plant! A meal on a bun that has you wanting more even though you are filled to the gills!!! read more

It was December 6th, a night I remember painfully because we came to the Colosseum expecting to see the tribute to Finland only to find that it had been the previous day. However, from the ashes of an extremely disappointing night, I was able to find Pane & Vino just by luck. This tiny little restaurant did not have a bathroom, and I could barely fit through the doors but boy I tell you what. When I got in and sat down, after I had to run to the neighboring establishment to use the restroom, I was treated to one of the best sandwiches I have ever had. It was truly a sandwich to behold. The server was extremely friendly and I have to say it was an excellent experience. I cannot speak highly enough of the sandwich - the Special Porchetta. I left my name on the wall so the next time I go, and you can count on the fact that I'll go again, I can date it again. read more

Found this place because it had so many good reviews! I went here after visiting the colosseum. It's a very small place with not much seating but the service is very quick and nice! The owner, Fabio, makes great conversation with you (which was nice since I'm visiting Rome alone), and gave many suggestions of some lesser known places to visit! He even gave me the free dessert before writing this review (because you get a free dessert if you write one!)!! Such a nice and personable guy, I would give five stars to this place just for him. As for the food, it was very very good. They get their mozzarella fresh every day! Unfortunately I know this because I got here not too long after it opened and they didn't have it in yet :( but they were very accommodating and showed me the other types of cheeses they offer. The bread was crunchy but not messy and the meat was very fresh and delicious. I may consider coming back here again before I leave! read more

Bestest porchetta sandwich (and burgers) in town with some of the nicest local owners! Fabio and his crew were so nice and accommodating and took time to talk to us as we ate our food. We loved the sandwiches so much that we made sure to come back a second time before our flight back home. Friends and I were super tired of pasta and pizza and read about this place. The reviews are on spot on-- I ordered the chicken sandwich (recommended by the staff) and it was delicious! We were able to talk to the owner and told us about his store. Don't forget to sign their memory wall! read more

Bring cash because they don't accept credit cards, and you will not want to miss having one of their sandwiches. We had the porchetta sandwich, and the meatball sandwich. The porchetta is their house sandwich and it was excellent. The bread is fresh baked and very crispy on the outside, while being soft at the same time. Our daughter had the meatball sandwich, which was also very good, on a softer bread. The owner is very interested in providing good service and good food experience. If you are visiting the Colosseum, it will be very difficult to find excellent food. This is a great place to stop for a sandwich and beer. read more

Wow this place was amazing! The hamburger was one of the best ever, perfectly cooked and seasoned. We had another that was extremely good. 5 stars is perfect for this place. Fabio and the two other employees were great. Shows that they really care about the food. If you aren't happy, let them know. Just an update, we ended up coming here a total of 3 times during our trip. Food was amazing each time as usual. 8 months since our trip to Italy and still thinking about the amazing food here. Met both of the owners (brothers) Fabio and Mario, great people. Will definitely be back here when we are in Rome. read more

This place is cash only and it can get busy. It's walking distance from the Colosseum. Not really a sit down kind of place but they do offer a couple of chairs. We ordered ours for takeaway and found a spot to sit outside. The panino was really good! Crispy on the outside and soft on the outside. We got the pork and the other was meatballs. The bread is large but one person can eat it all unless you only want it as a small snack then it's good for two people to snack on. There is also a market a few minutes away so you can grab drinks and chips with your paninos! read more

Easy to find and just a short walk from our morning tour of the Colosseum and Palantine Hill. The sandwiches were a generous size. I ordered the Traiana (roast pork, chopped into small pieces, sun dried tomatoes, grilled eggplant and mustard). My girlfriend had the Severo (sausage, grilled eggplant, salad, mayonnaise and ketchup). I liked hers better. Mine had good flavours but it was a bit dry. Porchetta seems to be a specialty so maybe I should have ordered the special porchetta read more

We opted to try this place after reading some really positive Yelp reviews and did not leave disappointed! The focus here is on fresh, simple ingredients. I ordered the caprese sandwich which was simply lettuce, tomato and buffalo mozzarella on a fresh kaiser bun. When I saw it I thought - really, that's it? But after the first bite I quickly changed my mind. This place is proof that sometimes simple is best - when it's done right! read more

I am at a loss for words of how good this place was. All I can say is..I was on a mission to try a porchetta sandwich after being in Italy for 15 days. Shame that I didn't try it sooner. BUT alas!!! pane&vino came to the rescue (of my tastebuds)! I got the porchetta sandwich with mustard,sun-dried tomatoes, and eggplant. It was the best sandwich I had in the three cities I visited (Rome,Florence, and Venice). Thank you pane&vino for making my last day in Italy delicious!!!!! read more

What an awesome find! Super affordable and delicious sandwiches right next to the coliseum. I ordered the Special Porchetta and it was super delicious as well as a huge portion. I was only able to finish half my sandwich and ended up taking the other half to go. The workers there are also pretty helpful as they speak english and explained all their different sandwiches to us. The seating is kind of limited since the place is pretty small but it seems like a grab and go kind of shop. I would definitely recommend this as a quick lunch stop for people visiting the coliseum or if you're just in the area! read more

This place is fantastic. The owner speaks great English and is very humorous, and made us feel very welcome in Rome. The food we all had was delicious. Came here strictly based on yelp reviews after hours were spent walking the colosseum, roman forum, and palatine hill. Inside is very small with 4-5 tables. We were greeted by a very friendly owner! The menu was in Italian but we were grateful as it means we weren't in a tourist trap. My boyfriend ordered the porchetta special and I opted for the Cioli and they were both exactly what our bellies wanted and needed! We ate every bite. The owner invited us to add to his international wall. He was so friendly and welcoming. Often times I brush off the service aspect when I'm going solely for the food, especially while traveling because everyone's idea of customer service is different depending on where you're from. Having perfect food and A+ food is a game changer. I recommend anyone that ventures toward the colosseum to eat here! read more

Don't let the Coca-Cola signage and close proximity to the Colosseum alarm you - this place is definitely NOT a tourist trap!! The porchetta sandwiches here are TO DIE FOR! The serving size is humongous... even enough for two people to split if desired. The menu and seating area are both pretty limited, but that is not a problem whatsoever. Also, randomly, Pane & Vino has, bar none, the greatest steak fries I have ever tasted. I'm not kidding. They cut the fry wedges into a V shape so you don't get a mouthful of mushy potato, and then fry them to hot, crispy perfection. I'm honestly still dreaming about those things. This place is the real deal. Everything we tasted was absolutely exceptional. When in Rome, hit up Pane & Vino! read more

One of the best burgers i've ever had... The fabius! The owner Fabius greets you and it's super friendly and funny. Great service and great food! Would definitely recommend if you are visiting Rome. This place is spectacular! It is a small (really small) hope in the wall. When we got there, we weren't sure what to get so we asked the owner. He described two different sandwiches and they both sounded amazing! The way he spoke of his food was like poetry. He talked about how he handpicked the farms that he got his ingredients from and ensured they were highest quality. The food was delicious! It was so flavorful and so fresh! All of the ingredients tasted like they were as fresh as they possibly could be. Great place to go after seeing the Colosseum. read more
