It's said that this is the best sandwich in Rome. I wasn't overly impressed! The line was long, but moved pretty quickly which was nice. The sandwich just didn't wow me. The toppings weren't spread well throughout. I think you could do better at a hole in the wall spot!
Ingredients were super fresh (the burrata, tomatoes, etc), but it was really pretty bland and physically hard to eat. Was not enjoyable, nor was it worth the line.
The line moves quick. Best sandwich I've had in my life. Here's what I had. Italiana sandwich- From the bread to the meat, it's all good. The sandwich is huge and can be split between 2 people. Simply Amazing!
The line took about 10 minutes, which wasn't bad at all. I honestly only came here because I kept seeing people walking around with sandwiches wrapped in the iconic red paper, and it definitely lived up to the hype. The quality was great, the portions are generous, and it's easily shareable. If you're splitting one with someone, I'd recommend asking them to cut it in half when you order.
A friend of Lisa recommended this sandwich shop to us so of course we were excited to find out there was a Rome location. It's legendary so there was a line but the gentleman playing music in the square made the time pass by enjoyable. Once in the shop you could see how fast the staff were moving from taking orders to checking customers out so best to have an idea of what you want as to not hold up the pace. First bite was prosciutto heaven. They did not skimp on any of the ingredients. Mozzarella for day and finishing off with lovely pesto. Absolutely impressive!
It's a solid sandwich and we arrived about 15 minutes before they closed. If we had to wait in line, ids skip this place. The hype is driven by social media as the sandwich was similar to a solid muffuletta. The bread is the best part of the meal. Sandwiches range from 8-12 euros . Prices are average as they are located off of a heavy tourist street via del corso on the way to Piazza del Popolo
Schiacciata We had a wonderful lunch from All'Antico Vinaio - prosciutto, mozzarella, tomato and basil sandwich made with schiacciata - the chewy crusty bread of Toscana!! The schiacciata is baked in-house, the service is friendly and fast, and the price extremely reasonable. This outlet also has plenty of nseating which is a bonus!!
This place makes some of the best sandwiches I've ever had! They bake the bread on-site, and they make new batches while you wait in line. The bread is traditional Tuscan schiacciata, a flatbread that is crispy outside and soft inside. When the staff slices it open, you see why the owner's motto is "BADA COME LA FUMA" which means, "Look how it smokes/steams!" The cheese and tomatoes are so flavorful that they often overshadow the sauce or meat you might choose. Their focus on high-quality, local ingredients shows in every bite. The lines at the Rome locations, especially near the Pantheon, can be long, but the staff works quickly to get you your big sandwich fast. For the price (€8-€12), the size and quality are a great value. We visited for the first time with friends and returned to other locations while we were in Rome. Yes, they are a chain, started in Florence in 1991, but they really do make delicious sandwiches that live up to the hype!
These sandwiches are delicious! There is ALLLLLLWWWWAAAAYYYYSSS a line, but it moves fast and the service is great! The spot, itself, is small, but most grab their sandwiches and go sit in the square. It's vibe. Enjoy. I enjoyed the one with the sun-dried tomatoes. Yummy yummy.
This one of the more "viral" sandwich chains around town and the line is a clear indicator. The line moves quick though as they have tons of employees and after you order, you pay at a different counter before picking up the sandwich. They do have some seating inside but most people just take it and eat outside on the curb or while walking around. The menu didn't have any English so I was frantically translating everything online on their website to decide what to order. The sandwich was pretty good but not the best I had my week in Rome. I would come back though for sure.
The sandwiches are humongous so be ready to chow down. The service is fast even if there's a line outside on the street, food is freshly made as you place your order. Line goes fast and they ate very efficient. The place is clean and the staff is always wiping counters as they make sandwiches
Is it a must try in Rome? The line certainly says so. This location as well as the one just down the way by the Pantheon always have a long line Fortunately, for the crowd, the line moves really fast. Every person that walks by stairs at the line didn't decide you know what I should join too. We already knew what we wanted by the time we got to the front because we had about 15 minutes to decide. We happened to walk by a spot selling spritz to go, so that gave us the perfect amount of time to finish our drink. We got 3 kinds between the 4 of us. I shared one with my sister. One is enough for two. I honestly don't think I could finish one. Their system is a well oiled machine. The line moves super fast cos they're all in unison. Make sure you ask them to cut your order in half or it's gonna be messy. We ended up eating right outside.
WOW! All' Antico Vinaio was EVERYTHING it purported to be! I ordered the L'Italiana and it was busting at the seams. Literally, mozzarella and prosciutto for days. The basil pesto and fresh tomato slices really tied it together. Pure JOY! I couldn't eat this sandwich in its entirety on my hungriest day so I ended up devouring all of the interior an it kept me content the entire day. I highly recommend you visit when in Italia. You certainly won't be disappointed nor hungry thereafter. ;) Bonus, there's typically live music out front and it is located only a short distance from the Trevi Fountain.
While in Rome and this being one of the top sandwich places I had to try this. Thankfully I was here in the evening and there was no line. This place inside looks amazing and you can tell right away your sandwich will be worth your time!!! I got the BADA COME LA FUMA which had Porchetta, smoked provola, roasted potato cream, and spicy eggplant. What an amazing sandwich not to mention the bread perfect and fresh. My wife got the LA CHIANINA which had Marinated Chianina beef, stracciatella cheese, yellow and red tomatoes, and arugula Both sandwiches were definitely worth the hype and if I ever go back to Rome I'm definitely coming back here for sure! read more

All'Antico Vinaio: Worth the Hype? Legendary sandwich shop lives up to its internet fame, serving up massive, high-quality Tuscan schiacciata sandwiches ($18-$20) that easily feed two. * The Hits: La Paradiso (mortadella, stracciatella, pistachio cream) is a creamy, savory masterpiece, while La Schiacciata del Boss (prosciutto, pecorino, truffle cream) offers a perfect salty, earthy kick. * The Catch: You should expect long lines--though the queue moves fast and the payoff is worth it. The Verdict: 4.5/5. It might seem pricey for a sandwich, but the premium Italian ingredients and giant portions make it a must-try. read more

This is one of the lunch spots that was highly recommended prior to my trip to Rome. I heard that the lines were long, but they had 3-4 counters open so the lines moved quickly. Not much to comment on for the restaurant itself because although there is limited seating, this is more of a takeaway place. The sandwich was excellent. I had "La Inferno" which is Porchetta with spicy cream, slightly spicy eggplant, and arugula. I would love to try a few of the sandwiches on their menu because they all sounded great. read more
This is a must try place in Rome. They have several locations. The one by the Pantheon is always crowded but this location is fairly new and near the Spanish Steps area. Most of the staff understands basic English but would hurt to learn some Italian. The sandwiches are big enough that can be shared. They're fresh and taste is beyond good. Selection in wine is limited but really good. Price is decent considering the portion size. read more
Quick refueling stop amidst our Tour de Rome!! We got one Vegana and one Paradiso which turned out to be good to ok. If you happen to be in the area you can stop by but it's not definitely worth driving/getting here all the way out from your itinerary. Must say amazing customer service though!!! read more
The line here is way shorter than in Florence for sure. Probably only 10 people in line and it went quickly. My companion ordered the most popular sandwich which is the pistachio mortadella. He really thought it was very tasty and ate it up quickly. I ordered an eggplant with salami with some type of cream because the lady staff member told me that this was the best sandwich at the place. She was severely wrong. Maybe it's because her English wasn't too good. It just wasn't to my liking. Seating is extremely limited there on the edges of the restaurant. They were barstools so it was hard to sit with my backpack on my back. They did have plugs there if you needed to charge your phone. read more
The line was very long when we got here, and we waited outside for about twenty minutes, half way down the block from the entry to the shop. I anticipated so much, and after hearing about it on Youtube, apparently my husband and I weren't the only ones to hear about this place, but there you have it. The sandwiches are enormously large, like U.S. extra large. I can't think of a sandwich that I've had that was just as large. This is an in-out venture and if you feel comfortable asking people what they think of the sandwich or what it tastes like, I would ask. The only reason I'm saying this is because you will honestly have to be careful what you order. I was too adventurous in trying a sandwich here, and I wish I'd been a bit more careful because there aren't any take backs. Too bad no samples are handed out front. All I must say is try not to order anything with the truffle sauce because it's gray and it tastes like Gorgonzola cheese sauce, and if you haven't had that then think "blue cheese," which is a bit tart. What I ordered was the "San Marco," and I wasn't prepared for the taste and frankly wasn't in the mood for ham with tomato and sauce that tasted like this. I truly thought "truffle" will taste like mushrooms and maybe it would be good. My husband chose better as he went with the "Truffle 1" which was truffle mortadella, stracchino, mushroom cream, and arugula. His sandwich didn't have the gray stuff. Also, once I was in the states I wanted to look at their menu again, and didn't realize that I was looking at one in N.Y. and lo and behold I find out they are a chain, and have several shops in N.Y. California, and even Las Vegas and Tennessee, which to me is a disappointment because I wanted to eat only at mom and pop shops or maybe very small local chain stores. read more
The focaccia bread is baked fresh. The bread literally came out steaming fresh when you order a sandwich. I got the numero 4. I thought I would not be able to finish a whole sandwich myself but it was so good that I did! The bread was crispy with every bite. It had a truffle cream sauce that loaded the sandwich with taste in every bite. My brother got a sandwich with pesto in it. I liked mine better. Definitely got to go back and try their other sandwiches when in Rome. read more
Great lunch place in Rome! I got the Pistachio No 4, wow it was so good! Fresh, bread it was delicious! This must be the place to go, it was crowded and everyone was taking pictures! We went to the back and stood at a counter to eat. These are big, so you may want to share one. Put on your list to eat in Rome, great experience! read more
Great sandwich a must try if you're in Rome. Beware that the lines are very long and there is nowhere to sit. If you walk about 3 min away you can sit in front of the Pantheon and have a memorable meal. Service is rushed, I think it's because they are so busy and just want to get the next customer. read more

Phenomenal sandwich restaurant in Rome. Fair prices for the food, delicious bread, and large quantities of the fillings. The menu is expansive, and I enjoyed the variety of cheese and meats to choose from. The staff were very friendly and the ordering process was simple. The place has a great atmosphere and often has long lines. read more

It is not often that a place catches my attention and has me wanting to come back the same day. The sandwiches here incredible. All are made on a fresh focaccia bread that is special on its own. I opted for LA PARADISO- Mortadella, cream of pistachio and stracciatella cheese with chopped pistachios. Also L'ITALIANA- Prosciutto di Parma, mozzarella di bufala, tomato and pesto. Both sandwiches were excellent. The pistachio cream and then chopped pistachios in a sandwich is something I've not ever considered yet it is so good and makes perfect sense in each bite. Service was great. The line moves fast and the ambiance is quaint. Close to local attractions like the Trevi Foundation. I will definitely be back. So good! read more

A Must-Try in Italy! I finally made it to the iconic All'Antico Vinaio, and let me tell you--it lived up to every bit of the hype! I ordered the Tartufo 1, and it was absolutely divine. The truffle spread paired perfectly with the delicate mortadella and fresh arugula, all tucked inside their signature schiacciata bread--crispy on the outside, soft and warm on the inside. Pure perfection with every bite. The glass of red wine on the side made the whole experience even more special. Rustic, flavorful, and satisfying--this is what Italian street food dreams are made of. If you're in Rome , this spot is non-negotiable. Go early, go hungry, and don't forget to sip some wine while you're at it. Grazie, All'Antico Vinaio, for this unforgettable foodie moment! read more

this was so gas i can't even begin to explain. the first time we tried this was at 10 pm near the pantheon and we were starving. nothing was open, and during this time all' anticos came in CLUTCH! they were closing up, and decided to make a godsend heavenly sandwich out of things they had leftover. it was amazing. the workers were nice and charming. it's not an eat-in type of place, similar to subway, but with no chairs. just order and go! their menu is fruitful and full of options. the second time was during daylight, and boy was it busy. the line was super long (for a good reason) and if you know what to order, it's 100% worth it. (there's a reason why this sandwich shop went international!) their portions are HUGE, and there's so many options you can choose from. i was desperately searching for a sandwich similar to what i got the first time, and ended up getting something with too much truffle lol. overall a 10/10! read more
