Porchette sandwich was incredible - this is a tiny place with small menu and a few sidewalk tables. Cash only. Definitely recommend for something other than pizza or pasta when in Rome.

    Huge porchetta on display!

This is the little restaurant that could. Owner Alessandro is your chef, waiter and entertainer. He continues the same family tradition for 5 generations, specializing in one thing and one thing only: PORCHETTA. You've never met a pork like this: it's like crack! It's roasted for 4 hours, this is a salty, seasoned pork with a super crispy skin. Your mouth will water as you look at this tempting porchetta on display, while he carves off pieces for you and stuffs it in a crusty roll or simply serve it on a parchment paper. You will need vino bianco (or rosso) to wash the whole thing down. The place is frequented by a mix of locals and tourists, and by the looks of his thick binder of a guest book (we signed it of course!) people from all over the world have discovered this amazing place. Tight quarters, convivial locals, curious tourists and great food. Most importantly, cheap at €3 a sandwich! It is such a bargain, even your mother will approve!

    Porchetta Baguette (3.50 euros)

My friends and I stopped by this place to grab a porchetta baguette before starting our busy day touring Italy. So this was our first porchetta baguette in Italy and I didn't have any expectations when I first walked in. It's a tiny hole in the wall and they slice the meet right near the door, which is cool to see. There isn't really anywhere to sit especially for a big party like us. We ended up just standing outside while eating our baguettes. The porchetta was itself tasted really good. It was juicy, and not too salty. Unfortunately I was not very impressed with the overall proportion of the baguette to the porchetta. The bread was dry and was way too much considering the small amount of porchetta that was inside. I also found out afterwards you could have ordered additional toppings to go inside. I think having some toppings would've made it sooo much better IMO. Overall, I tried better porchetta baguettes while in Italy, so would probably not go back to spend another 3.50 euros.

This is literally a hole in a wall, but they are serving some serious porchetta in here. I stopped by around 11 am for breakfast. Seriously, porchetta for breakfast - it is heaven. This place isn't big. There barely is room for five people in here, but this porchetta is absolutely amazing for take-away as well, just as I did. I choose some sliced porchetta with a white roll. Not a sandwich, yet nothing fancy here. Plain, simple and good. I will admit; I was expecting a more generous amount of porchetta, but then; I paid 3,5€ for this combo. Not bad. The porchetta was lovely. I missed some crunchy crackling from the porchetta, but the taste of the porchetta meat itself made up for that. The white roll was fine. Nothing high quality, sourdough, wholegrain, rye - nothing healthy at all. Just a plain white roll and it worked very well. The bread was perfect with a perfect crust. I would gladly come back. A tip; get yourself some porchetta for your flight as it is located very close to the Termini station. You will save money and get a much, much more delicious meal than in any airport.

Small shop. Get in, sit down, and eat. There's pretty much only one thing to order here, which is the pork Panini. It's good, but I think the meat to bread ratio was off. Don't get me wrong because the bread is tasty. However I think I would've like the platter better than the Panini. No worries though, it was still tasty and a great value. Definitely a good snack for a foodie!

The man, the pig, and the best take out (or sandwich) I'll ever get.

I'm in love. With Alessandro's porchetta. He's building on the past 4 generations of pork perfection. If in Roma and you appreciate pork (and by appreciate I mean you love and would eat no other meat for the rest of your life) you must eat at ER Buchetto. It's simple, three tables, maybe 100 s.f. and a pig. So go there for amazing pork (make it a sandwich if you want, I'd go with the plate), get a smooth half liter of red red wine (from the tap, perfect temp) and for 6/7 € you won't get just an amazing slice of pork but experience a slice of time uninterrupted. If you go, per favore (please) be a good tourist, gratzie (thank you).

Pommodoro with olive oil drizzle. I swear that even the tomatoes taste better in Italy!

Great traditional fast food in Rome! Owner was friendly. Reasonable price also for red wine.

Meat is ok, the owner was very nice, but unsanitary. Touching everything including money then cuts the meat without washing or using gloves.

Pane e Salame, however, was delicious!!!! On our first day in Rome, my husband and I decided to search for a lunch spot nearby (we were staying near the Trevi fountain), and I found this place had pretty good reviews. We got there about an hour after it opened and requested a seat outdoors. They have a tiny patio across from their entrance, but they fit quite a bit of people in it! We initially wanted to order two sandwiches to try more items, but I'm glad we just shared one - they were big and filling! We also had the small charcuterie board to share which was plenty of food for us both. We shared a bottle of rose, and all in all, we paid under $50 (usd) - what a steal! This was the perfect first meal in Rome. The food was incredibly fresh, the service was great, and the outdoor seating allowed us to experience the streets of Rome. 10/10 - would absolutely go back.

Our sandwiches were cut in half and one half was big enough to make the average person full. We got five sandwiches for only about €30! The place was not a tourist trap, but i have to say, the seats at the booth were uncomfortable to me, and the place was a bit small. Sorry i do not have photos. But overall, I would recommend to go here.

A yummy thing happened on the way to the Colosseum …read more.. Pane & Vino is a tiny sandwich shop near il Colosseo that specializes in local porchetta (stuffed pork loin) and is run by the friendliest owner of all time. He gets to know every customer on a first name basis. I'd go back more to see him than to have a sandwich. Seriously, he's pretty awesome. The menu is simple and focused on sandwiches featuring their famous porchetta so we tried two recommendations from the peppy proprietor. While waiting, I got a miniature bottle of Chardonnay and my spouse sipped a Coke Zero. The Traiano Porchetta sandwich (12€ - 4 stars) is an original creation of the out-going owner with a mighty Mustard-flavored blend of Roast Pork, Sun-dried Tomatoes, and Grilled Eggplant. I like mustard and, therefore, liked this specialty much more than my wife, but we ended up ignoring portions of the so-so bun. Pane & Vino Special Porchetta (12€ - 4 stars) was a huge sandwich with the sliced Roast Pork Porchetta plus Mozzarella Cheese, Grilled Eggplant, Grilled Peppers, Mushrooms, Lettuce, and Mayo on classic Italian Pane. It needed more mayonnaise or a sprinkle of balsamic and olive oil for my tastes, but there was no denying it was a hearty hero. There are lots of pane bread and sandwich shops in Rome, but there is only one -- Pane & Vino -- run by the most welcoming of owners ever. If I'm in the neighborhood again, I'll be sure to stop in for a casual chat and some yummy porchetta sandwiches on the way to the Colosseum.
