Came in at 5:00 and ordered a family meal, plus drinks, etc. SHOCKED they were unable to make change for a $100 bill (meal total was over $50). I didn't see any signs posted saying large bills were not accepted; I checked to make sure before ordering. I had $200 in cash and was turned away because they couldn't come up with $40ish in change between 2 registers. What?!? Crazy!!! Haven't been here in months, and today reminded me why. Ever been to a restaurant and felt like the employees did not want you there? Well, that's how my family and I felt when we visited Panda Express in Paso. I think the manager (who was an older Asian man) was filling our order. He was kind of rude to my wife, was not very kind to me, he skimped on our main dish and screwed us on noodles and rice. Skimp on the rice??? YES!!! Our two-item dinners were like a small one item dinners. There is no more of an uncomfortable feeling that one can have, than when patrons feel like they are not wanted of welcome at a resaurant while they are eating with their family. Sorry Panda...... They changed their recipes or technique? The mushroom chicken and Beijing beef is always on my families plates, we come here about once a week. Terry is a nice guy who is working hard and trying to get people served, he seems to have a limited vocabulary in English so he can come across as rude. I do t see it. But now that the fried rice is basically white rice with mixed frozen veggies (peas, carrots, corn) with maybe a little soy sauce, it's gross. The mushroom chicken is completely different, this visit 8/26/15 the mushroom chicken was smothered in a very dark hoisin? Sauce? Been to the Panda place countless times for the past years. For the most times, I've had a good experience, but lately it seems like the service is getting worse and worse. The manager doesn't seem to care or even be around when the store is opened. Terry used to be a server there a while ago. He was amazing. He's obviously from a different country, and I think some people use that and make fun of him. The problem with SLO county, especially Paso, is that there is no diversity. People don't understand different culture and mannerisms. I've seen Terry worked incredibly hard, by himself up in the front, and he still manages to treat every single customer that comes through the door. It may take people some time to get used to him, but he's a great man and he obviously works very hard. I wish all of the other employees will follow suit because he leads by example. I don't think I will visit this Panda store for a while. Probably visit the ones in SLO or Grover Beach. What the management team doesn't understand is that even though their food is great, if they don't have consistency in employee performance and customer service, people are not going to return. I do like the fact that every once in a while, they feature a new menu item. It definitely keeps the customers coming back. Overall, the restaurant is clean, service is relatively fast (not on weekends or any time after 4:30pm). One area to improve is definitely customer service. read more

I like Panda Express in general but this location seems to be managed pretty poorly. The line always moves slow. Seems like every time I'm there, something in my order has to wait 6-10 minutes to cook because it's out. There's always something wrong with my order, for example they'll forget to put the sauce on the Teriyaki Chicken, etc. & sometimes I catch it before driving home, but sometimes I find out after it's too late. I used to frequent the Bakersfield locations and those would sometimes have long lines because of number of customers, but they would process each way faster. Hoping these reviews will cause management to pay attention so we can start visiting this place more often. read more

This place is just ok. If you are going to get fresh food it can be good, the fried rice usually has almost no flavor. The broccoli and beef, my fave, is usually good but when you get a fresh batch of this one the broccoli is so hard it's hard to eat. The motivation for me to write this review is they recently changed the containers from paper to plastic. I thought we were all trying to be better to the environment, I mean we are banning straw and you guys SWITCH to plastic. Same food as any other PE. The difference is whether the staff can handle the tempo and works well together. This one not. Don't bother ordering online. My drive time time put me arriving there after the order was supposed to be filled. Walking in, there is one party waiting for an online order, one party having an order filled, walk in style, and us. There appear to be two online orders waiting to be filled, one being ours, confirmed by staff. All entries are full, ready to distribute. Four people are manning the counter, register, and filling drinks for customers. Another couple enters and are engaged in having their walk in order filled. Online order before ours.....still sitting.....ours.....still sitting. Two more parties do walk in before the online order before ours is filled, to be fair, I have no idea what his estimated pick up time was. Two more walk in parties arrive and have their orders filled. Our printed internet order still sitting with our cartons. We query the counter staff, they are aware we are past our pick up time, aware the food is available, and aware they've been skipping us. The response back from staff is a blaring mistake in basic time math, like they don't have to fill it for 15 to 20 once we show up, despite the web order indicating 15 to 20 from when I send the order. Beware when catering through Panda Express. I arrived at the time my order for 12 people was supposed to be ready at the Paso Robles location. It was only upon asking for my order did they pick up the printed order that was sitting in their printer. I ordered and PAID for it last night before they closed so they would have plenty of notice. I had to wait while they "cooked" my order. It didn't take them long though and they were really nice. The vege side was fairly raw. But they did comp me a tray of chow mien. It only inconvenienced me by 15 minutes. When I told my friends at my party, they all said they had the same experience and never used them again. I wished one of them had warned me! I went into the restaurant at 9:30 tonight. The hours sign on the door says that they are open until 10pm. Yet, they were out of quite a few items. When I asked if I could get any of those items, they told me that the kitchen was closed. I asked them what time they closed, they said ten o'clock. I asked, "Then if you close at 10 and it is 9:30, why can't the kitchen staff make a small batch of fried rice and orange chicken?" These are two of their MOST POPULAR items!
