Great atmosphere and the ice cream was delicious. Space decor had wonderful seating options for families with little kids.

I've driven by the Bakery, so many times and wanted to stop, but I was always in a hurry. My sister and I went in and we each got a dessert and because it was four in the afternoon, we got decaffeinated coffee. The refills were free and we sat at the little counter like we were at a diner and enjoyed everything about this iconic little bakery. The decor is a eclectic. We just took our time and looked around and laughed at so many signs and odd little things that were placed over the years. On the way to the ladies room, you will find out that the gentleman that started the restaurant fought in one of the world wars, and you will see his worn out shoes, his uniforms, his letters of accommodation and Learn his story. Now let's get to the desserts. We shared some type of a wonderful lemon pastry and a black forest cake. Best black forest cake I've ever had. Savored every bite. We were able to buy the last of the springle's that they had made from Christmas. FYI, if you don't like black licorice don't buy Springerle's but you can only get them at Christmas because it's a German tradition and they won't work in the summertime because of the humidity. Things that I learned that day. We saw that they had a dinner menu with a huge variety of different bratwurst and assorted sausages that we would like to try sometime. We ended up spending an hour and a half in a beautiful little place that we thought we were just going to stop and grab desserts to go.

We usually pop in to grab items from the grocery or to pick up things from the pastry case. Today we had lunch here too! Service was friendly and quick. They have a little food area in the back of the store, near the pan dulce, where they have tamales ready and waiting in steamers. You need to go to the register first and let them know how many and which kind of tamales you want, and they'll get them for you. I bought a dozen-and-a-half of the pork with red chile tamales, and they are very good! In fact, I'm eating one right now as I type this review! The tamales have the perfect proportion of masa to meat, and they are cooked all the way through and not at all gummy, like some tamales can get when they're not cooked properly. They have other tamales besides pork, but I was only interested in pork when I visited, so I can't tell you for sure what other kinds they have. This is also a grocery store, so there are lots of packaged Mexican foods here, as well as a small panderia with some bolillos and a selection of pan dulce. This looks to be a great place to find Mexican candy (Lucas, Tajin, tamarindo candy, those little disks of chalky peanut butter with the picture of the abuelita on them, etc.), as I saw a lot of different candies.

I didn't originally visit K-Kitchen to get Spam musubi, though. I've recently been obsessed with kimbap. I've eaten it for dinner two days in a row! I saw that K-Kitchen has grab-and-go kimbap, so I moseyed over to grab three rolls (and that musubi) for my family's dinner. My kids didn't really care for the kimbap, even after telling them it was a lot like sushi, which they love. But who cares what they thought: I loved the kimbap! I got two beef kimbap and gimbap, which was crab and egg. My favorite was beef, though -- it's marinated, and with that and the pickled vegetables all wrapped in rice and nori, it was delicious. I don't know if you're supposed to, but I popped my rolls in the microwave for a few seconds, just to take the cold edge off. In my opinion, kimbap tastes better at room temperature. K-Kitchen also sells jars of kimchi, Korean noodles, soybean stew and lots of other dishes. It's located inside Saraga International Grocery.
