Upon entering, you'll find trays and tongs to grab your bread. I tried the pan dulce and bolillos, both of which were delicious, and the prices are reasonable. Review is based off their Three Kings Bread. We arrived the day of Three Kings Day and they had more than plenty of breads in a fairly large and extra large size. They were kind with their service, and accept either cash or zelle for payment. The bread is probably the best "pan de Reyes" we have had to date. It was very soft, fragrant (not in a bad way but a hint enough to taste the yummy spices in their bread), the fruit decor also was soft and delicious. read more

Ughhh!!! I'm in trouble! I came here two days in a row on my way to work. The first time I had their yummy goodies was when my coworker told me she was going to bring us some tamales the next day. They were very good! I liked that it had enough meat in them and not just filled with a bunch of masa. Since she and I were working the next day, we stopped for breakfast...pan dulce, tamales, and champurrado! Bomb! All of it! They have every single type of pan you can think of and the pans are out in the open, so you can just grab a tray and help yourself. The tamales are in huge steaming pots on the stove. They have a chicken in what I think is a chili verde sauce and they also have the pork, which is my favorite! The champurrado was fantastic. It had the perfect thickness, perfect amount of cinnamon and spices and just warmed your heart. They also bake for parties...They have cakes and I even saw a sheet of flan, but you have to order them ahead of time. The people are very nice and friendly. My family and I are on a mission to find the best panadería. Panadería Cortez so far is on our top 5. Panadería is very small, no more than 2 customers can fit in at a time, it isn't the cleanest looking panadería, but the texture and the taste of their pan Dulce doesn't disappoint. Their conchas are very soft and don't turn hard right away, the bolillo is also soft and remains soft even days after you bought them. Their muffins taste good but the last two times the muffins appeared to have either fallen flat or burned. Other than that, this panadería is one of our favorites. Cash or Zelle only. read more

As far as the bread goes, it is a crap shoot here. Some breads were decent, while others were horrible. I mean really...some of the bread or cookies did not even look like what they were meant to be. Let's look at the "puerquitos"/little pigs, they is a cookie cutter to make them look like little pigs, but they look like rocks. They were huge and had no resemblance to a little pig or a big pig for that matter. If I saw one of these on the street floor I would honestly think it was a rock or a turd. I cannot believe that in an area with so many latinos this place is in business selling what they sell. I repeat, quality is a lot different than quantity, I prefer quality. read more

Went on Christmas Eve at 6am to pick up some tamales after I was unable to get tamales at my usual spot. We got 18 tamales chicken, pork, and queso con rajas. My favorite was the queso con rajas! All the tamales were moist & delicious. My family loved them & their Champurrado was delicious as well! Highly recommend this place. read more

Small..I mean small pan dulce shop and bakery. But you know that saying "good things come in small packages". Located in a strip mall on the corner of Cerritos and Western Ave, almost afraid to walk in. You walk in and serve yourself with the flat pan they provide. The baker/cashier comes out from the back and takes your change-but it's all good since he is friendly. I asked for a sample, and he just laughed Gave me a free cookie, and told me to stop often. I laughed cuz if I stop here often, I won't fit into my pants . This will be a nice alternative for work instead of donuts and bagels. I Mean who doesn't like pan dulce! read more

I love this place! I have a bias because the owners are my parents! Oof. Since I grew up eating all the bread let me give my recommendations. I love the flor de queso and empanada de crema or the cortadillo con pink frosting on top. Also the champurado and tamales in the morning. But you better come early for those because they run out at like 11 or call ahead for them to save you some. Anyway, God bless you all. Don't forget to buy a mask too! read more

I have various times before. Never had an issue. Today I went and made the 8 mile drive to get some tamales. I asked for a dozen. I specifically asked for 8 chicken, 2 pork, and 2 of rajas. I drove back home and saw the man had made a mistake. He gave me 5 chicken, 3 pork, and 4 rajas. I called and he hung up on me after I got upset because he said the only way he could help was if I took them back right now. I replied that I can not go today, I already went on that 8 mile drive and that I would freeze them and then take them tomorrow after work. His reply blew my mind. He said "well frozen they don't taste the same." I literally could not believe what he said. So in these times of covid this man was planning on selling tamales that I touched? Its ridiculously insane. Thats when I got upset and he hung up on me. Nothing worse than trying to come up with a resolution to a mistake made by the business and them hanging up. His response to the mix up was, "I mix up the papers that distinguish one from the other." I'm upset with how he handled this situation and with his "solution" I'm scared this happens often and he tries selling tamales touched by previous customers. Unacceptable! read more

4.5 Stars (where is that half star when you need it) This mexican bakery has your typical pan dulce n bolillo. Plus the lady/cashier is always smiling n in a good mood...even when its 100 degrees outside n it far worst inside with all the ovens on....MADNESS!!! My family n me love coming here to get our sweet tooth craving satisfied. My favorite is this cake looking bread with pink frosting...YUM!!! The jalapeno n cheese filled is delish as well...great for a snack. BUT the bolillo is perhaps my fav of them all...perfect for sandwiches/tortas. Warning: Spanish translator might be needed for this review. ;) This panaderia (bakery, my gringos) is a walking distance from my bf's house and boy, am I glad for it. Like many other Mexican bakeries, Panaderia Cortez offers plenty of treats for SUPER cheap. Most panaderias also have the same type of offerings but this one has some creative ones (ie croissant-like bread filled with cheese & jalapenos). Basically any place where you can get awesome service along with some bolillo, "Mexican sweet bread" and other pastries for less than cinco dolares is worthy of cuatro estrellas. :D read more

5 stars for their pan dulce!!! Finally, a place that doesn't grind pieces of a cinnamon stick into their pan! I hate pan dulce that has the pieces of cinnamon with a passion. Nevertheless, this place has inexpensive and pretty damn good pan dulce. I try to stop by once a week in the morning to get my fix :P During Christmas I also tried their tamales. MUST EAT THEM FRESH! They weren't bad steaming them again after being in the fridge, but fresh they were so good. I had the chicken and the beef. The bread is delicious lots of variety. The champurrado is very yummy. In the mornings they have small but delicious tamales.

This place is the real thing! Enter the open door and take a deep breath of all the flour, sugar, and baked goodness. Pick up a tray and tongs and start exploring. I got four items which only cost me $4. I've only eaten 1-1/2 but I can tell they are all going to be great. This place is small, but they sell soft and delicious bread. Their bread doesn't go hard like a rock like other places I used to go to. They also sell really good tamales, shocking right? Forgot to mention I saw the lady that works there picking up the bread from the floor she accidentally drop and place it back on the rack for costumers to buy.....the bread is good but expensive $$$; I gave it 1 start because the cakes are a waste of money no wonder no body buys cakes from here I order a 3 leches cake in advance an wow completly dry it cost me $40.00 what a waste of money superior groseries only charge $25.00 and is bigger better and they use real fruit, tha cake from this bakery was nasty, dry not wet like a 3 lechez suppose to be, the decoration was really bad, and the feeling was worse than jelly pure sugar very nasty. I recomend regular bread but DO NOT ORDER CAKES HERE they are lower than a 1 start, next time I will order my cake fro Superior market or Roosmore bakeries way better. read more
