I was transported back to Bangalore, India where I spent quite a lot of time when I managed one of the Asia design centers during my high-tech days. I cannot believe that Marigold - Gateway to India was on S. Lamar when I lived on S. Lamar. Walking into the shop felt like being transported to Bangalore or Rajasthan, India. Marigold is rooted in vibrant color, texture, and uniquely Indian pieces. The overhead draped colorful cloth added to the ambience. The store offers a curated selection of Indian clothing, jewelry, accessories, and gifts. The quality and variety of the merchandise was immediately noticeable. From traditional and contemporary clothing for women, men, and children to unique accessories and decorative pieces, everything feels authentic. Lata, the owner, was super nice and welcoming! The store was laid out in such a way to invite you to peruse the items in a slow and enjoyable manner...relish the shopping experience. Great discovery...will definitely be returning!

Moss Designer Consignment was my first stop. They generally have good selections at great prices especially if they are on the final mark down. Moss is an excellent luxury resale shopping destination. Located on South Lamar, the store feels more like a boutique than a traditional consignment shop. The layout of the store is spacious, open and beautifully organized to allow ease of browsing and shopping. The store has high-end women's designer clothing, shoes, handbags, and accessories. You can pick up statement pieces at a fraction of the original retail price and feel confident in the quality of what you're buying. The staff was very helpful and friendly...opening up cases to allow you to see merchandise up close, at your leisure. They have an on-site authenticator of all their goods, which gives you a certain peace of mind that you are getting authentic pieces. While today, I did not find anything I could not live without, I will certainly pop in the future when I have free time to shop.

In addition, you'll be able to find items from various eras as far back as the 30s through the 70s. I've seen some stuff there even older than the 30s. Everything is of exceptional quality and condition. Not only do they sell but they buy as well. If you've got vintage wear you'd like to get rid of, try them. They give cash or credit for things they'll buy from folks. As with most stores like this, you'll get more in store credit for your stuff. Fun fact: they've also got a location in Waco.
