Beautiful, delicate interior design,…read morea sweet patio where you can relax with a coffee and a pastry, the whole vibe is calm and cozy, which I appreciated so much. Now, the real star: the gluten-free baked goods. We tried four different things, cookies included, and honestly? I was stunned. The flavor, the softness, the balance, nothing felt like a "gluten-free compromise." It tasted like the real deal, maybe even better. Not overly sweet, not dry, not crumbly, just genuinely delicious pastries that happen to be gluten-free. I don't know what magic they're working in that kitchen, but this is easily the best gluten-free bakery I've come across. A must-visit, no question.

How have I lived Austin TX so long and had not discovered Maaribu!? Maaribu is modern, cool and…read moreeclectic coffee shop and store where you can have the most delicious cup of coffee along with a pastry or bite. Every piece in the store appears to be intentionally curated. Maaribu melds a home and gift shop with an in house café and bakery, creating an experience that's both relaxing and memorable. According to Mable, my server, Maaribu is a combination of the word Marfa (Texas town that has the Prada store) and Malibu. The brand is often described as combining Marfa's creative spirit, Malibu's laid back lifestyle, and clean Scandinavian design. The shop portion of Maaribu is beautifully styled, featuring furniture, décor, books, and gifts that have a modern flare. All the items are easy to peruse and get drawn in. The use of color is playful and engaging. Maaribu's key highlight is its café and bakery. The in house café has an assortment of coffee, wellness beverages, and dedicated gluten free baked goods. I bought a Rose honey latte, which was divine along with a multi-layer pastry. Mable said customers enjoy the quality and flavor of the pastries...scones, muffins, cookies, brownies, and egg bites are frequent favorites. Importantly, the café is reported to be fully gluten free, which makes it a standout destination for people with celiac disease or gluten sensitivities, without sacrificing taste or variety. The outdoor seating and patio area add to the charm, making Maaribu a great place to enjoy coffee and pastries on a nice Austin morning. After years in Austin, I finally discovered Maaribu--a modern, eclectic coffee shop and store. Every item is thoughtfully curated, blending a home-and-gift shop with a café and bakery for a relaxing experience. The name combines Marfa's creative vibe, Malibu's laid-back style, and Scandinavian design. The shop offers stylish furniture, décor, books, and gifts, all easy to browse and visually engaging. Maaribu's café is fully gluten-free, featuring quality pastries like scones, muffins, cookies, brownies, and egg bites, as well as wellness drinks and coffee. Outdoor seating makes it a perfect spot to enjoy coffee and pastries on a pleasant Austin morning. Wow...Maaribu!!!

The space is a big part of the draw. It's clean, modern, and very intentionally designed without feeling overdone. There's a mix of seating that makes it flexible depending on what you need that day. Coffee bar seating if you're solo, standard tables inside, and outdoor seating if the weather cooperates. It's just a nice place to exist for a while, whether you're meeting someone or quietly easing into the day. We usually go in the morning and have never had to wait for a table, which feels somewhat rare for Austin these days. There's a steady flow of people, including plenty of families, but it doesn't feel like a "kid place." More like a place that can accommodate kids if you're willing to make it work. There's a small box of toys, and we usually piece together sides for our kid, which has been easy enough. Strollers are doable but not effortless. Food-wise, the menu is interesting without being inaccessible. I tend to keep it simple and it's been consistently solid. The scrambled eggs are reliably good, and I'll usually build a plate with sides like bacon and toast with their seasonal house-made jams. It's good enough to keep me coming back. The standout, for me atleast, is the savory oatmeal. It's not for everyone, but it's easily the most memorable dish on the menu for me. Very savory and flavorful, and substantial in a way that most breakfast dishes aren't. If you're open to something slightly different, it's worth trying at least once. Coffee is clearly a focus here. They offer a lot of more artisanal options, which seem to be a big draw. I usually stick with drip, which is good and consistent. Service has been friendly across visits, but when it gets busy, things can slip a bit. Orders can take longer or small details get missed. Nothing that feels out of the ordinary for a popular brunch spot, but it's noticeable during peak times. A few small usability notes. Parking is easier than it first appears. The main lot fills up quickly, but there's a garage behind the building that's inexpensive and reliable. You can get an hour of parking comped by the restaurant with a QR. Inside, there's also a window of time in the morning where the sun comes in aggressively enough that I've had to wear sunglasses at the table. Not a dealbreaker, but very real. One thing I do miss is a previous yogurt bowl with pandan that used to be on the menu. The current overnight oats are good, but that earlier version felt more unique. Overall, it's a place that balances quality and routine really well. The consistency across visits is what makes it stick. It's the kind of place where you go for coffee and end up reorganizing your entire morning around staying a little longer.
