The jjampong and white jjampong were one of the better ones i've had in recent memory. The jjajangmyeon was kind of salty as well. However, I would skip over any of the other fried dishes (chicken, shrimp). The sauce they use seems to be the same across the board with just varying amounts of spices..and even then it tastes super cheap and almost like they used tobasco as the base. September 2019 Located in a small strip mall with private parking. The location is small 5-8 tables and can get busy fairly quick. Like many Korean style Chinese food this location offers typical dishes (Jajamyung, Fried rice (chicken, beef, pork), Jangpo). The portions are Large here!! so instead of opting for individual meals just share the meals , the location doesn't allow splitting the meals in separate bowls/plates in the kitchen but they will offer an extra plate for patrons to split the meal themselves. I walked in and asked about the tray of seafood in noodles with black bean sauce. I asked the worker if it was enough for two people. And she said there was no dish in their restaurant that can feed two people. So then I asked her for 2 orders of it. The order came out quickly and then we headed home to eat because there is no outside sitting. When we got home I realized that there was no seafood or any type of meat inside the sauce, except like 5 pieces of very small beef pieces. Introduced by a co-worker with a highly recommended about this restaurant. We came to have a try with their foods why was such a hype. It located inside a small strip mall right at the corner of Beach and Lincoln. It was a small size of the restaurant, but don't let it fool you. We order take-out from here regularly, but our recent trip will be our last. The food has completely changed for the worse. Since we picked up the food for take-out, we couldn't complain upfront. The sweet and sour chicken has a flour batter now which was yellowish and soggy. The oil they used reeked so I lost my appetite even before starting to eat it. We also ordered the seafood-topped rice dish which had different ingredients than before. Instead of sea cucumber, it had slivers of napa cabbage which were never in that dish before. The steamed rice was so dried up and hard that it was inedible. We had to heat up our own rice. We also heated up the sweet and sour chicken in the oven to make it crispy but it didn't work. I tried this place for the first time with a significant other's family. Mind you I'm familiar with cuisine from the San Gabriel Valley, but not this, so I was excited. Our entire table shared an order of the sweet and sour pork, and the kung pao pork, someone got the jjampong, and we each got our own jjajjangmein. The pork dishes were served sauce on the side, and the pork was fried in a starch type of batter. Ultra crispy and literally made to order. You will burn yourself, and that's the best part of it. I'm down with this so far. The jjajjangmein was the first time I had it, and the thickness of the noodle was between a spaghetti noodle and an udon, with the texture of an udon noodle. It was good. It was a very very large person for one person, I would've split it in the future. It was a different type of food experience than I was used to, and I appreciated it. It is my baseline for jjajjangmein forever now. They gave us radish pickle, white onion, and extra black bean sauce on the side. Would absolutely come back. It's absolutely a mom and pop place that they've worked very very hard for for a long time, and it shows. If you're looking for Instagram pictures and date night, it's not it. I have been to many Korean styled Chinese places, this place now marked as no.1 pick for my family. Really good prices! Affordable! But the amount of food is more than you pay for!! This made me even feeling more amazed about this place! A bit far from where I live but man, I will coming here back eventually whenever I want good priced but good quantity/quality of Chinese food! Cons: Only has about 10 small tables (that can be combined to make larger ones). Too many onions in the jajamyun but it's still tasty. Tip: Can have a wait some times so go a little later to beat the lunch rush or on a "off day" (non weekend) Tip2: You can definitely share the sweet and sour pork/chicken/beef. They also have stir-fried versions of jjampong and jjajangmyun that come out on big platters but if you're coming here, you'd better just stick to their specialty which is the jjampong. They don't skimp on the seafood ingredients for the jjampong. There are generous portions of squids, clams, mussels, crab, jumbo shrimps, along with an abundance of veggies. The hot spicy broth is super addictive. They put a lot of peppers so you'll want to remove some if you can't take the heat. This place usually has a wait during dinner time. You can see bunch of Korean fobs, especially the older ones hanging out waiting to be seated. They just don't have enough tables/seats to meet the demand, but I say wait and eat it here instead of taking it to go. You can also ask your bowl of noodles to be halved so that you don't have do split it yourself. I think the name confuses a lot of people, especially non-Koreans into thinking they should come here and order white people Chinese food like fried rice and orange chicken but again, stick to the speciality and order the jjampong. We ordered two stir-fried black soybean noodles, one sweet and sour pork, and one spicy noodle soup with seafood to go. After we picked up the food and sat down to eat, we noticed that they forgot to give us the sauce for sweet and sour pork and also the utensils. We had no choice but to call them and go back.
