I usually get take out from here and love their chicken curry katsu. My usual order used to be just the chicken katsu but the curry adds on an additional level. Their kimchi radish side dish is also really good. I usually skip the white soup they provide (it tastes kind of like powder to me).

Tteokbokki

I was in Buena Park for a hair appointment and was recommended this place, so I ended up ordering to-go: one pork katsu and tteokbokki combo along with two pork katsu sets. It's pretty difficult to impress my parents with outside Korean food, but even they were surprised with the quality and quantity of food provided. They were especially in love with the tteokboki, which was not too sweet and had great rice cake texture. The katsu was pretty typical but I loved the corn potage (or potato?) they provided on the side. I definitely want to come back and have this again the next time I'm in the Buena Park area!!

I highly recommend Joon Katsu. Absolutely delicious katsu options at very reasonable prices. Excellent staff. Interior is a bit tight when it gets busy but the staff is very efficient. Portions are definitely on the generous side so come hungry. Delicious side dishes too. Shares the parking with Zion supermarket plaza so parking was a breeze as well. Afterwards, you can check out a dessert spot nearby and get some grocery shopping done too! So many other great spots to check out in this area after stopping by for a satisfying and nourishing meal at Joon!

Pork Katsu and Spicy Rice Cake

Recently opened is Joon Katsu and their Katsu was life changing (seriously!) I ordered the Spicy Rice Cake + Tonkatsu Combination and that along can feed two. The Katsu was perfectly fried, super crispy, yet retaining the juicy and tender interior. I really enjoyed the sides of curry they provided to dip the Katsu into. Between the spicy mayo sauce and curry, I preferred the curry :) We didn't even get to really dig into the rice cake because the portions were just HUGE! The rice cakes were pretty spicy and savory, the rice cakes nice and chewy. HOWEVER, the standout was most definitely the sweet potato Katsu. Ive never had the sweet potato spread across the top of the Katsu, but the blend of umami pork and sweet potato was perfection 12/10. The inside of the store is very humble and feels like ones home. I can't wait to go back and have that sweet potato Katsu because it is THAT good.

Donkatsu

I went here wanting to try another donkatsu restaurant in Buena Park. I ordered the donkatsu and soba combination. The combination adds the option of ordering either soba or udon. The portions are large, so I'd recommend coming here especially hungry. Aside from complementary banchan and a creamy soup, we also ordered steamed dumplings and crispy shumai as appetizers. These were all decent, and the steamed dumplings' filling included meat and japchae. The donkatsu, cut into thick yet tender slices, tasted delicious. Its portion was just right and came with a sweet and tangy dipping sauce. The dish also came with a shredded cabbage salad with a bottle of Japanese-style dressing already placed on our table. I wish that it came with more rice, though. It was my first time eating soba noodles, and I enjoyed it. There was a dipping sauce that tasted like a lighter and sweeter variant of soy sauce. From reading more about this sauce online, I believe this was mentsuyu. There was also a small bowl of relishes, including wasabi, grated daikon, and chopped scallions. By itself, the soba had a nutty flavor. I decided to pour the sauce and relishes into the soba, which made it refreshing with a delicious blend of savory and sweet flavors. Service was good, and the staff was really nice. The restaurant wasn't busy when we ate here. The ambience was relaxed and casual. One point of improvement would be providing a water pitcher.

Everything was perfect. I was headed to Yoko but they didn't open yet so I decided to try this new jem. Honestly, I would say it was a bit better then yoko for me. Much more fast to get the foods but still foods are amazing. The server was nice too. The one thing I wanted was the baby diaper change pad on restroom. Definitely I'm going back to this place!!

Amazing food! It's a small gem in a plaza that cranks out many orders. For good reason. The menu is simple, and it's good. I ordered the pork and chicken katsu And cold noodles. The banchan were flavorful. Service is fast. So is the ambiance. Worthy of being in the rotation

Chicken Katsu

Drove a couple miles to Buena Park on a whim for lunch. Was craving some variant of fried chicken and found this establishment right next to Zion supermarket. Parking is quite abundant since Joon Katsu shares the same parking lot as the grocery store, so no problems there. It's a smaller shop so the interior is a bit cramped with less seating (although very clean) as it gets moderately busy during lunch hours, but that's what adds to the charm I'd say. The staff was amazing; got me seated right away with some banchan to stave off my hunger. Even better, they got my order out in under 10 minutes. Super efficient service definitely brightened my mood a good bit! The banchan included some cucumber kimchi, radish cubes, jalapeno slices, bean sprouts, and some soup (not too sure what type it was but I enjoyed it). I honestly wasn't expecting any banchan to come out to begin with, so I was just happy to have something to snack on. Not much to say except the vegetables had a great crisp, so I was more than satisfied. Again, props to the staff for getting that out so quickly. I decided to order the classic chicken katsu, which came with some warm katsu sauce, a cabbage salad, and a scoop of white rice. The katsu breading was perfectly crisp, even with the sauce poured over it. Of course, the meat was sufficiently moist. Keeping the sauce warm was a great idea so the chicken didn't get cold so quickly. The salad was fine, nothing to write home about but it tasted fresh. My only note would be that I would have preferred a larger standard portion of rice, but that is variably subjective for most people anyways. Pricewise, it came to around 20ish dollars including tax. Given the quality service and the size of the katsu, I think it was well justified. If you live around the area, I definitely recommend checking it out.

50/5 stars!! Get the sweet potato katsu for the ultimate indulgence/if you're a fan of sweet and salty! Radish kimchi is quite amazing here, a little sweeter and less tangy than other places, but so addictive. Just a little under $19 before tax and tip for a shareable dish if you split between two ppl Comes with cream soup, salad, rice No Amex accepted ========== How this place isn't swarming with customers is beyond me. I wasn't even craving katsu, this has been a bookmark for awhile. Better late than never lol Where do I start? Thick pork slab Crunchy panko Sweet potato cream/filling Topped with an abundance of broiled mozzarella?? Cheese Crunchy katsu with sweet, soft potato and gooey cheese, finished off with gently sweet, tomato-based donkatsu sauce. A small bite of cold salad with their creamy dressing and a tangyish selection of their banchan. Sososooooo goooOoOoood. Dawa who? lol It was definitely a moment where I sit in silence, slowly chewing and listening to their Korean ballads they have going on in the background and everything is right in the world. Cream soup was decent, a touch gritty but black pepper would have been perfect. Banchan Besides the radish, the seaweed is also really tasty and the cucumber was pretty decent as well. You'd think for a donkatsu place, banchan should be whatever - NOPE, not here! Rice was slightly chewy and sticky. I used it primarily for the banchan. Salad was cold and crisp and came with corn, tomatoes, purple + green cabbage. The dressing was less mayo-y than other places and leaned a little more tangy. Service was wonderful. I got checked on and I complimented the lady on her banchans and she even told me how to make her radish one lol I told her no, I want hers haha I had half a donut before this meal, ate about 1/3 this dish and was still full. They have a combo that comes with soba for $25 or so! But that's too much food for one person. Also have pizza donkatsu, curry, etc... I'll try and come back once a every two mint?? so I don't get a heart attack hahah

First time here. Friendly staff and perfectly fried, crunchy katsu with good banchan. Most katsu places skimp on salad dressing, but here they give you a whole bottle so you can pour as much or little as you like.

Everything I ate was delicious! The spicy katau is spicy but flavorful. The Beef Bulgolgi bowl was a big serving and very delicious and filling. Service was swift and friendly.

Ordered through doordash. The meat tasted sour and it was undercooked. It was super gross. Will not be ordering from here again.

The meal starts off with lighter dishes like porridge, salad, and water kimchi to warm up your stomach. After that, a variety of starters come out including spicy beef tartare, pan-fried sliced beef, glass noodles, and a beautiful platter of nine delicacies. Everything was thoughtfully presented and flavorful. The highlight of the meal was definitely the assorted premium wagyu cuts, which are grilled to perfection over charcoal. The meat was incredibly tender, rich, and packed with flavor. Pairing it with naengmyun and soybean paste soup made the whole experience even better. What surprised me most was how many courses kept coming out throughout the meal. Even after the wagyu, they brought fried dishes, seasonal items, tricolor pancake, and dessert to finish everything off. Overall, the course felt very complete and satisfying, and the quality of the ingredients really stood out. If you're looking for a more elevated Korean BBQ experience in OC, this is definitely a spot worth checking out.

I had tried their weekday lunch special before on November 11th, 2025 and remembered it was really delicious. This time, my brother was curious about the lunch special and wanted to try it, so we decided to visit again. The weekday lunch special is $39 per person + tax + tip and includes braised short ribs (galbijjim), gujeolpan, bibimbap, and doenjang jjigae. The galbijjim was so tender and flavorful, and both the bibimbap and doenjang jjigae were also very delicious. However, the gujeolpan portion was noticeably smaller compared to our visit last November. Back then, there was enough for each person to have about two servings, but yesterday it was only enough for one small serving per person. The staff are usually very friendly, which I really appreciate, but yesterday it seemed very busy. They didn't check on our table and even when we asked for water, it took a while to arrive. However, the food is consistently good, and the staff are generally kind, so this is still one of my favorite Korean traditional (hanjeongsik) restaurants. cf 1) After the meal, they serve sujeonggwa as dessert, which I also enjoyed. cf 2) However, there was one issue. Before the food was served, one of the waiters (I'm not sure who) apparently placed My Mom's cell phone on top of the small plate used for sharing side dishes. I didn't see it myself because I had stepped out to use the restroom, but my Mom told me about it when I came back. Placing a cellphone on a plate meant for food is unsanitary and inappropriate. My Mom asked for the plate to be replaced, and it was changed very quickly.

Food: I ordered the beef gyugatsu. When you order (on the tablet) it will give you a choice if you want the full set or just the meat only. Of course I had to try the full set. It came with 2 sauces, salad, edamame, radish, rice, and a bowl of miso soup. It was delicious! Meat also came with a little grill for u to cook on and wasabi on the side. My partner ordered the curry pork cutlet. Pork cutlet was a tad bit dry, nothing crazy but the sauces that came with it made it better! It also came with miso soup, salad, radish, edamame, and a bowl of rice. Since my partner ordered the curry cutlet, ofc it came with a bowl of curry and katsu sauce on the side. Both meals were delicious! 8/10 rating for food! Ambiance: cute, clean, nice and small! You order on the tablet. They close around 830pm keep in mind! We came the last hour of closing and there was still a couple of tables eating inside still. We were greeted upon arrival and we didn't need them to tell us how to order as the only thing on the table was the ordering tablet (self-explanatory). We ended up ordering the premium gyu katsu set along with the curry pork cutlet set that comes with rice and sides along with some beer. The drinks and food came out fairly quick and were steaming hot. I like that the curry came on the side so the pork cutlet wouldn't get soggy and you could pour over as much as you want over the cutlets. The veggie sides were a nice touch and complemented the meal well. The gyu katsu didn't taste like Japan to us, but it was still good especially with the wasabi and sweet soy sauce that came with it. If I came back here, I would give the beef tongue a try along with the creamy udon because those also seemed like a favorite for customers. Service here was friendly and we were checked up on multiple times without having to flag someone down.
