I ordered food online for pickup--one large pepperoni pizza, spaghetti with sauce and tiramisu for dessert. The pizza was dry, hard and barely had any sauce on it. We didn't eat the spaghetti, instead it was thrown out due to the smell. When I first looked at the tiramisu, I thought those spots were sugar. I almost took a bite, but something smelled off and when I looked closer the spots were fuzzy. I tried to call the restaurant, but no one answered the phone. The next morning, I asked for a refund, to which they replied they don't give refunds. Once my husband got involved, we were issued a partial refund for the tiramisu, but not our entire order. I go to the Melissa location frequently and have some feedback on this location. 1. Widespread lack of cleanliness. Often the kitchen/prep area is very unclean and unkept with debris scattered on the counters and floor. The drink machine hasn't been cleaned in months, there are crusty bits hanging out of the dispensers, and debris living in the drain pan. The tea machine and containers are covered in crusty deposited and stains. These items should be cleaned daily but haven't been in months. 2. It's a revolving door of people who are miserable in their job. The lights are on but nobody is home at this place. It's not being managed or maintained. This place is so poorly kept that it's gross, I would say it's a health hazard given the condition of the drink station and general cleanliness culture. Either fix it or close it. Nope large pizza is $20 and $14 for extra pizza. Greek didn't have any artichokes on it either. Called back and was told sorry prices on website are wrong.... Yeah we won't make this mistake again. It took over an hour to make a large pizza and I couldn't stay and wait longer as I had limited time to sit down. I would have at least taken the pizza home since I knew my schedule and timing, however even after an hour the one pizza wasn't even ready to take home and I was told it would be another 15-30 minutes. DO YOURSELF A FAVOR AND DO NOT EAT HERE!! FOOD PREPARED WITH BARE HANDS AND NO GLOVES!! If I could leave a review with ZERO STARS I would...that's just how bad my experience was. I went to Palio's today and ordered a pizza. The young lady who I assumed was the manager took my order. I paid and sat down on the bench close to the door where I could see the kitchen. The manager while wearing gloves began prepping food items. Maybe a minute later a man carrying his cell phone in his hand came from the back. He laid his cell phone down in the same area that the food items are placed and proceeded to make my pizza. WEARING NO GLOVES, he began preparing my order...placing the pepperoni and cheese on the pizza with his BARE HANDS! If you guys know anything about cell phones you know it's ONE OF THE DIRTIEST items we come into contact with daily. I went over to the counter where the young lady was prepping food and asked her if employees wear gloves when making the food. She gave me a puzzled look, shook her head up and down to signify yes, and then lifted her hands to show me she was wearing gloves. Her back was to the guy making my order so I told her he was preparing my order without gloves. She walked over to him and said a few words. He looked back at me in annoyance and went to wash his hands. I overlooked that and continued to stand at the counter. He came back, touched his phone again (which by the way was STILL sitting in the area that food is prepared), and put the gloves on. Instead of making a new order, he continued to use the same pizza he had begun making WITH HIS BARE HANDS. I might also add he appeared to have a ring on at least one finger, that is FURTHER GERMS coming into contact with my food. I asked the young lady to have him remake my order using gloves and not pick up where he left off when he was NOT WEARING ANY GLOVES. Again she went over and whispered something to him. The young man instantly made a face, turned around and glared at me. He walked over to the TRASH CAN, held the pizza tray over the trash can and began scraping the items off the pizza. This was supposed to be his "resolve" to making a fresh pizza. When I saw this I was BEYOND SHOCKED AND DISGUSTED. I told the young lady "no worries...I'd just like a refund." There were no follow-up questions as to why I changed my mind. I'm sure she knew why, but I offered my reasons anyway. I told her he seemed more than annoyed I was requesting he make my food using gloves which is standard when preparing food items. She was silent, and as I continued at the end she said, "sorry about that." That silence told me everything I needed to know. As a result, I WILL NEVER PATRONIZE THIS RESTAURANT AGAIN!! The food items should have been prepared with gloves, and the male employee's reaction to being asked to do that was more than INAPPROPRIATE! Customers should not have to request that those who work in the food industry and are trained in basic food preparation and safety to do the bare minimum while preparing their orders. Palio's management...if you're reading this please REEDUCATE and TRAIN your staff about proper food preparation and customer service. Ordered 3 different pasta dishes. Very obvious pasta had been reheated and not made fresh. The unsweetened tea was soured. Marinara sauce extremely sweet with a tart finish. Really impressed with the option of whole wheat crust offered; so hard to find. They were happy to make any of the specialty pizzas on whole wheat. We tried one with red sauce, "The King" and my husband thought it was the best pizza he'd had in many years! I had "Ralphie's Pizza" with Alfredo sauce and it was also excellent. Don't order Palio's if you're starving because delivery will take forrrreeeeevvvvveeerrrrr! My home's 5mins away and yet, delivery took somewhere between 45mins to an hour. By the time the food got here, everything was straddling the line of lukewarm and cold, and we had to microwave everything so that it was at an acceptable temperature. Taste-wise, it was pretty good. It wasn't too greasy, but it wasn't filling at all. We both ate our large calzones in 1 sitting and still had to get something real to eat to be satisfied. For the amount you pay, I'd expect a better, more filling meal, especially since I could've spent less and gotten more from someplace else, like Pizza Hut. read more

Obviously our order had been delivered to someone else. So we've been to Palio's multiple times and overall haven't minded the pizza. We always order a cheese bread and it's literally just cheese on crust, that's not quite seasoned. I'm not sure if most people enjoy a square cut pizza, but every time we order pizza, we always ask for it to be cut regular. No big deal right, but a preference. But every time we've asked it to be cut like a regular pizza, one pizza is cut that way, while the others aren't. Like I said, a preference that leads to some frustration. Nonetheless, the meatball paired with pepperoni is tasty. I do like that they provide garlic butter and additional marinara for the cheese bread, so that's a plus. If the pizza/cheese bread was a little more seasoned, I would enjoy it more. We've only had various pizzas and cheese bread and overall, have been mildly content with it all. read more

I am so sad that I have to give Palio's a poor review. I have loved Palio's for 10 years. Our family enjoys it about monthly and it's my go to for all lunch dates. It's hands down our favorite pizza, even though it's a solid $60-$70 visit. I know it changed ownership recently because the previous owner greeted us warmly - he saw us A LOT. The past few times we have come it has been dirtier than usual. The staff was unfriendly. But today was the one that earned a review. The young blonde gal did not greet us. She walked up to the register, clearly enjoying her bubblegum more than her job, pushed a couple buttons and said, "what are you getting?" Husband and I just looked at each other. Not a hint of friendliness - we felt like our presence was completely annoying. I feel more welcome walking into Buc-ees. After spending $30 on our lunch, still not a thank you, enjoy your meal or any acknowledgment of appreciation that we're helping keep them in business. She delivered our pizzas without a word, still enjoying the gum. The pizza was still delicious, hence the two stars. When I spend my hard earned money at a local business, I just want to feel appreciated for half a second.
