Shower in room 211
Brooke M.

Four stars based on the following: - LOCATION- if this is your first visit to Seattle or you just want to be in the middle of the Pike Place Market action, this is super convenient. - Aesthetic, we loved the quirky green-forward design - Space, we booked the king studio and it was very big with a couch, double vanity in the bathroom, walk-in shower + claw foot tub - AC worked well, not one of those places where you put it to 68 but it never gets below 75 - Our room was comfortable- I saw reviews about hard mattresses, and our friends reported that their mattress was hard. Ours was comfy and the pillows were as well. Noting some not-so-great things in case they are important to you: - Noise, creaky floors (it's an old building) will wake you up if you aren't on the top floor. Also, there seem to be thin walls in areas, or we just happened to have quiet neighbors. Our friends staying in another room could hear someone's incessant coughing through the wall. - There's no market or complimentary water. We paid $9 for each of the large bottles in our room. - There's a mini fridge, but it's FULL. We had drinks and leftovers that we wanted to keep cold so we had to remove all the stuff and restock it before we left.

Getting my day started

I didn't really wanna give this rating, but, here we are. We have one more day here out of a 3 night stay. Upon arrival, front desk has been very welcoming along with housekeeping staff in our floor. We were given a heads up, upon checking in- that the elevator was temporarily out of service- due to a part needing to be delivered. The receptionist noticed I was wearing a medical boot on my foot and gave us the second floor. Yes, the aesthetic is gorgeous in the lobby and in your room. That's another reason why I booked here. Also, very close proximity to Pike's Public Market a block away. While we were out exploring our first day- hubby received a text stating the elevator would be up and running by 6/18 at 7pm. Then on our second day (6/18) we received another text in the afternoon stating the elevator would not be operating at all. And if guests need to cancel their reservation, they are waiving cancellation fees. Yes, it's an inconvenience. Another inconvenience I realized at 3am on our second day- there's no coffee pods in the room! Just teeny tiny Early grey pods. Hunt and Gather opens at 8am. Local cafes open at either 7am or 7:30. But, as much as I don't want to patronize Starbucks- the one across the street from Pike Place Public Market (the first Starbucks)- opens before 6:30am. But- ONLY beverages are served. No microwave in the rooms, something that would be great to have handy. No in room safe. There's a full stocked mini fridge and snack cubby available. Price list is available- but, many stores like H Mart across the street and Target a few blocks down to take advantage of. We haven't looked for an ice machine- so, not sure if there's one available. Since there's no ice bucket available in the rooms. We requested an iron and ironing board- housekeeping delivered promptly. We were asked if we would like daily room service, and declined the offer.

I had no idea what hotel to choose for my stay in Seattle and picked the one that had a good rate. I brought my earplugs in case it was too noisy! I read the reviews and came prepared. I walked in with my luggage and the concierge was busy checking in a group. It took a while to get them check in and finally I got checked in within 5 minutes and given a voucher for a free drink. I made it up to my room which was absolutely lovely. The set up was beautiful and I was in a nice corner facing the H Mart. The setup was different since the sink was on the opposite side of the bathroom. But no big deal. Room had a section for all the snacks and I was cautious to read the price of the items to ensure I didn't have any surprises on my final bill. I had brought ear plugs because I read all the reviews that the walls were thin. Didn't end up needing them which was great. I enjoyed my room as it was close to the elevator. I would recommend the front desk acknowledge people as they wait in line. Let's them know they are seen and will be helped out shortly. The hotel is beautiful and I enjoyed my stay. I would return again.

Perfect location in downtown Seattle right by Pike's Place. This quirky little hotel is perfect for a weekend stay. Front desk and restaurant staff were very pleasant and helpful. Only downside is the parking situation which is a few blocks away and not a good area to walk alone or at night. You'd be better off parking at the market.

This is a low class place. This is the room we walked into. I have a confirmation I didn't book this room. They partner's with 3rd parties who separate the room types and charge per room type. They say they only have these rooms left, and they can't do anything about it. Also, stated was valet parking but not between 11-7. There is no parking here, and no one to take the car. You have to do it yourself and walk back. Are you kidding me?

Location is great and it's cute. HOWEVER... the bed and pillows were TERRIBLE! I had the worst pain from the bed and could hardly sleep! Also the bed was lopsided! Along with the AC in our first room didn't work! Our second room wasn't much better! No space to put anything! All the stuff was either in my suitcase or on the floor! Just very expensive for old and run down vibes. I will say the shampoo and conditioner were nice and the robe was very comfortable.

This is not a luxury hotel & I would not recommend it for kids either. You can hear everything at night, the front desk isn't clear about parking, you'll likely be out $80 for street parking. The outlets near the bed couldn't even hold a simple night light. We tried to leave the light on dim & after an hour or so they shut off so not ideal if you have someone afraid of the dark. There were stains on the wall & dirt on the floor. Not pleasant

Front entrance

This hotel was nice but I don't think I'll be returning, as you walk in there's a pungent smell of pickles and dust for some reason. There's only one elevator here and it's slow and dirty. As you walk through the hotel, everything is very aged/old; not even vintage as I imagine the aesthetic for this hotel is. The carpet is quite literally ran through and stained. The AC in the room is hard to work and the WiFi was in and out the entire time we were there. The water in the shower also was not the best, it smelled of chlorine and I guess every time someone flushed a toilet, the water would stop and then resume after. LOL BESIDES all that, the location is very good because you'll have quick access to everything such as pike place and everything is walking distance. The greeters were nice and helpful and the staff themselves are amazing. Management needs to work on cleaning this place up.

The positives: Great location, steps from the market and other key locations. We were told the best room is 416, the corner room with two water views. It's a decent-sized room for an old building with enough space for two people. Everything was updated and nice. The staff were very nice, it's quiet in the lobby, and there is a nicely designed sitting room to hang out and read or chat. We had a great view and that added to our stay. There is a coffee shop and restaurant in the hotel. The less-than-great: it's EXPENSIVE. For the price, I won't stay again. Also, at that price, water shouldn't be $13 a large bottle! It would be nice to have complimentary water. It's noisy, so be prepared for city noise and windows that are old and not that sealed. I found the bed a bit saggy and uncomfortable, but my husband was fine. The coffee shop opens pretty late (7:30) and the restaurant as well (8). The coffee shop across the street was open early, so we got coffee there, but then had to finish it before bringing it in the restaurant, which was a bit annoying and silly. Overall, glad we did it, but would probably stay elsewhere if we returned.

The staff definitely leave something to be desired. I found them a mixture of condescending and rude. We requested early check in and where informed our room was not ready. Than watched them check in couple after couple. 2.5 hours later we got our early check in. A whole 15 minutes early. This was after it supposedly took them 45 minutes to clean the room. Now on to the room. The room was modestly sized with furniture shoved into every available space. The floors are plastic and cold. TV lost connection no less than 5 times forcing us to miss a few minutes of the show to reboot it. The best part was the bed. Very comfy bed. The comforters they provide are not designed for tall people though. The bathroom was not great. The shower is small with a temp control that sticks causing jumps in water temp. From luke warm to scalding quickly. For men beware the toilet. The water level is so high if you have to sit down to potty you will need to squat or parts might find themselves taking a swim in murky waters if you know what i mean. I would have normally told the staff all of this but the icy frosting on this stay was check out where the staff gave no greeting, didn't ask how the stay was or even express any positive sentiment towards us. In a city full of places to stay don't be fooled by there advertised low price. You end up with a low price experience for a high price in your check book.

He wasn't phased. He had the personality to a wet sock. The manager was running in and out behind the counter. Nothing was happening or being communicated to me. Finally, after a very long wait we were given keys to our room. I asked about any type of breakfast or happy hour. They don't offer any of that. The room has no little refrigerator other than a cooler drawer filled with outrageously priced snacks and alcohol. Good thing we didn't have medications that needed refrigeration. There's no microwave. There's no condiments for coffee or tea. There's a Nespresso maker for those people who enjoy Nespresso. I'm not one who particularly enjoys Nespresso. There were no pods anywhere. I asked for some at the front desk and I was told that it's hidden in the room somewhere. It's Christmas not Easter and I'm not going to play hide and seek for the crappy coffee. The furnishings were modern and cold. The lack of the little niceties that are standard everywhere else aren't here. The least they could have done was provide quality customer service and not by someone who seems like they would be better off employed in a funeral home. While we had access to early check in with our credit card, our room type (suite) was not ready yet and actually ended up not being ready until around 4:00 P.M. (regular check in time) so we did have to drop off our luggage and decided to walk around. When we came back and our room was ready, my husband did call down and mentioned it was our anniversary since they had confirmed in previously but we didn't see anything in the room, and they were very kind to bring up a little treat for us including some delicious chocolate covered strawberries. The room itself was spacious and clean with a great view of the city (we had a corner view). The bath tub had a fun feature (water to fill the tub came from a ceiling faucet rather than attached to the tub. The towels were large and fluffy and overall ambience was relaxing with a couch in the room. Check out was smooth and they had our bill ready and everything was easy/correct so we did not have to worry. We also did have late check out, which was pleasant as we could have a leisurely morning. We did try the restaurant (All Water) both for dinner and brunch the next day. Service was very slow unfortunately for the restaurant (it took 1.5 hours while the restaurant wasn't busy, and they did forget our side of grilled broccolini until after we finished our meals/reminded them). We tried the tuna hamachi crudo, clams and mussels, roasted hen of the woods and grilled broccolini. The tuna hamachi crudo was good, though I was hoping for more brightness in the flavor. I enjoyed the clams and mussels as well as the roasted hen of the woods overall, but felt the grilled broccolini was a little too dry (seemed grilled without any oil or seasoning). We did also try a few seasonal mocktails which were delicious and the highlight of the meal. Brunch the next day was take out and we went with a steak and eggs and a caesar salad. Both were solid, but note that the caesar salad came with actual little sardines, so for those picky eaters, this may be a bit much.

The main issues I had were as follows: - A lot of the "extra perks" disappeared. When I checked in last time, I was greeted warmly and gifted a glass of champagne. I don't expect that exact thing every time, but when staying at a premium hotel like this, little things really make the experience a lot more enjoyable. It felt starkly different this time in terms of the service and generosity -- much more generic. - My room was far noisier than my previous visit. I'm not sure what changed, but I could hear noises from other units and from the street much more loudly this time. - On noise, the AC unit in my room this time was much noisier as well. Generally speaking, I still think this is a great hotel, but I had a disappointing experience this time vs my prior stay. I will give it another shot next time, but with caution.

The provided shampoo, conditioner, soap, and lotion worked well and had a nice light citrusy scent. There was a Keurig machine in the room; not my jam but helpful in a pinch. We always got stocked with dark roast coffee pods, which is my preference, whoo. Also an empty mini fridge which we were able to use for beverages and leftovers. The 7th floor has a nice little seating area outside the bar where I was able to get some quiet work done one weekday, and the outdoor terrace offers a mountain view on clear days. The fitness center is small: just two treadmills, one recumbent bike, an elliptical, a peloton, and many dumbbells, but I had no problem getting a treadmill run in each morning before 9 am. Water bottle fillers on floors 1 and 4 were super convenient, too. The valet parking is very convenient but pricy. You might want to check Spot Hero or similar to see if you can get a better deal on parking nearby. All told I was impressed by this hotel and I think we will stay here next time we return to Seattle.

It was built in 1914 and has been well cared for over the years. When we came back from one evening out, we all gathered in the Library and set up some charcuterie and wine to share from our travels. It was so cozy sitting all together and chatting about our adventures. The rooms are historic with modern conveniences. Our room was the Queen Ann Hill. The temperature controls worked great, the bed was very comfortable and had an adequate number of pillows, the bathroom was well-appointed, and everything was very clean. The bath towels were large, soft, and plush. The frosted door to the water closet was a nice touch for the sake of privacy if you were sharing the space with someone. The shower was not huge but it was more than adequately spacious for me. There were 2 robes hung in the bathroom (though I didn't use them). The small table and chairs near the window were convenient and comfortable to work from. The view from my room was very nice, especially during clear days when you can see the water and the mountains in the distance. The room was always well maintained after the typical morning cleaning as well as during turn down service. I appreciated the staff placing slippers by the bed and how they always nicely arranged my toiletries in the bathroom, replaced used towels with fresh ones, and even placed things on the table in the bedroom (like my charger, earbud case, eyeglass case, and so on) neatly for when I returned. The bar area at the back of the restaurant was a nice little area and had a table large enough for our group of around 8-10 to comfortably sit at while enjoying a nightcap. My breakfast the day I checked out was also high quality and my server Nathan was pleasant, timely, and honest about prep time of some items I wanted to order but was constricted due to a time crunch.
