This is by far the best Italian shop in north jersey. You walk in to a clean, all white shop with various types of Italian pastries. They have fresh authentic mozzarella, olive oil, pastas etc. the authenticity of the food and ambiance of the shop is something of a lost art. I had a cappuccino, and a lobster tail. May I just say, that the lobster tail was absolutely delightful. It wasn't too sweet, flaky, and the crust was so crispy that the first bite can be heard anywhere. Another pastry I had was a lemon caprese. Again, another light flakey cake with a light hint of lemon that will taste great with coffee. All I can say is that the staff are very friendly, real authentic Italians and will definitely be coming back soon. read more

I heard a lot of great things about this place, but I needed to see for myself. I wanted some coffee and dessert and my sister suggested we should come here. Palazzone 1960 has by far the best coffee that I've had. It is so strong and delicious and there isn't really a crash. I ordered the Roma and it was delicious. For dessert, I ordered 2 lobster tails, 2 tiramisu pastries, canolies, and a doughnut. The lobster tails were very good, but not my favorite. My sister loved it so much that she basically ate both! Now, I'm a huge tiramisu fan and this was definitely some of the best tiramisu that I have ever had the pleasure of eating. It had the right amount of sweetness mixed with that delcious coffee flavor. And the texture was how it should be. I definitely recommend the tiramisu. And the canolies were just perfect. I wish I had bought more. The doughnut was very soft and had just the right amount of sugar. My brother-in-law really enjoyed it with his coffee. The price is a little on the higher end, but it's definitely worth it. Not going to come here often due to the prices but will be back to try more desserts and maybe have some lunch! read more

I have seen palazzone from the high way so many times but have never actually gone in. I was surprised to see so many great reviews on yelp, so I knew I had to stop by. I went on a Tuesday afternoon, lunch time, there was a good amount of people there. Once you walk in you are greeted with so many treats, no complaining here. We were seated right away. The waitress was super nice. I got the soup of the day ($7.90) It came out very fast. It was vegetarian which was great. It tasted very fresh and flavorful. I got the Spaghetti Al pomodoro ($9.90) Wow. Let me start by saying I love pasta and this did not disappoint. They tell you it takes a little while for the pasta to be ready but it is worth the wait. The sauce was amazing so much flavor and rich. I would want to have it again. We also got the gnocchi ($11) Also very good. Also would want to eat it again. You can tell everything they make there is fresh and it really helps with the flavor. I got the tiramisu on my way out. So cute and small I ate it super fast. Anniversary lunch was great. I bought pecan & Apple pies here in November for hubby's birthday and they were a hit. Then I ordered mini pastries & cookies for Christmas and again...BIG HIT. So we were going to have dessert & coffee for our anniversary lunch but when we sat & saw the food we decided to splurge on our special day...oh so good. Hubby had a panini with prosciutto, Brie & tomato which was delish & so fresh. I had the lentil soup that was delightful & tasty. For dessert hubby had a cannoli with a double espresso...the cannoli would have been perfect if the shell was crispy but it was good. I had the lobster-tail with a cortado (espresso with a bit of cream) OMG the lobster-tail was PERFECT...crispy on the outside and the cream on the inside was fluffy and smooth...melted in my mouth good. Very nice and cozy place where you can either stop in, have some coffee and a pastry/gelato or take some to go for a function. Their pastries/cookies, although they have a large selection of options, are average. I am used to ultra fresh and not too sweet variety. To their defense we did come later on a weekday but regardless they should be fresh. I did try their coconut gelato which was very good. Shreds of coconut and creamy. I prefer other bakeries in the area. The location and parking is odd so if you miss the entrance you have to be rerouted for a few minutes before trying again. Parking lot has a few spots but they do fill up fast. read more

This place makes my heart warm and fuzzy. I've tried their lobster tails and their Nutella stuffed donut. The best I've ever tasted. The lobster tails are so freshly made you sink in your chair getting lost in the fluffy flaky goodness. The inside is not overly sweet and is so creamy. The Nutella donut is delicious. Warm it up a bit in the microwave then take a huge bite and prepare for the Nutella to ooze all over. Staff is always so friendly and prices are very reasonable. First off, let me just say that the lobster tail pastries here are incredible and deserve 5 stars alone. I came here around 9pm, just as the store was closing, and the lobster tail pastries were still crisp, flaky and delicious. The filling on the inside was smooth and the perfect amount of sweetness-- like a mix between pastry cream and whipped cream. I also got a sabayon cake, which was also good but nothing special. I haven't tried the rest of their options so I'll definitely be back to give them a taste, but if you're just stopping by for a quick treat make sure you get the lobster tail pastries-- you can thank me later! read more

If you want authentic Italian pastries like sfogliatelle, lobster tails, Canolli and ricotta cheese cake, this is the best in Norther New Jersey. I highly recommend their lobster tails with a crispy layered pastry filled with a sweet smooth French Vanilla cream, with the end dipped in chocolate. Their ricotta cheese cakes come in several sizes and can have chocolate chips, Nutella or at Easter try their "wheat pie" which contains wheat berries. After experiencing an intense craving for italian pastries, I came across the highly rated Palazzone 1960. This store is located right off of the highway, so keep an eye out for the turn, unless you want to take an unexpected road trip. It's also next to a fitness gym so...make of that what you will. I chose to get the lobster tail and cannoli, but when I asked the employees for recommendations, they just put random things in a box without telling me what they were and only reassuring that they were good. While they were all delicious, I would've appreciated knowing the names and descriptions of these pastries. The cannoli was very good, with fresh and creamy filling that was not too sweet, and a crunchy outer shell. The lobster tail was also crispy and fresh, with a light and creamy filling. As for the additional two items, neither of them were amazing, but they were pretty decent. All four of these pastries came out to a little over $7, which I would say is a pretty decent price. Next time, I would try to come earlier in the day to get more freshly baked goods, and to try the various pasta dishes, cakes, and coffee that they offer. read more

When I went to Italy I was so upset on the first day that they didn't have like scrambled eggs and bacon and hashbrowns for breakfast because that's kind of what I eat and then on day two I succumbed to the fact that pastry is breakfast in Italy and I ate 2 to 3 pastries a day and came home 10 pounds heavier. I was glad to leave Italy because I needed to stop eating those pastries, just kidding I was mortified to leave Italy and it was the saddest day of my life. You can't get real Italian pastry anywhere in New Jersey except for two places, I won't name the other place because I'm not reviewing them, but you can definitely get them at this place. And should get them at this place. Because they are absolutely fucking incredible. I woke up and is still feeling kind of ugly for some reason and when I came here to get pastries for my boyfriend's family one of the guys behind the counter tried to give me a free cannoli and even though I didn't except it because I don't eat cannoli bumped up my self-esteem. Service and baked goods are amazing. I got the lobster tail and it was terrific. Filling was not too sweet. I've tried many of their pastries and have not been disappointed once. The only negative is pulling into the parking lot (especially at night/low visibility) is a little confusing since it's hard to see where their entrance is. It's right before an on ramp so drive carefully so you don't miss it. But there is always parking and I have never had to wait more than a few minutes to be served. read more

Don't come here when in a rush because you may get lost finding it, the parking lot will be full and there may be no tables available when you finally get there. Five stars. Less than 24 hours of being back from a week of vacation in Italy, we woke up craving Italian food, Italian weather, Italian leather, Italian everything. So there we were. Palazzone 1960. "Buongiorno. Due espresso per favore. Oh, and the two lobster tails please. Grazie." One week was not enough for us to master Italian. That's a good enough reason to go back to Italy. I know, we are working on it. Just like all American coffees, the espressos were more caffeininated than those we used to drink in Italy. Still tastes good though. Too bad we can't have 4-5 of espressos like we did while we were in Italy. The smaller sized lobster tail is still bigger than any other pastries we saw in Italy. Oh and we notice the huge doughnuts.. Oh my. Oh yes, we are back. Where everything bigger equals better. My goal of trying every pastries has not yet been met. I'm working on that too, trust me. I was a skeptic. Five stars? But now I'm a believer. It took a little navigating on Google maps to finally get on the right entrance ramp to park at this café. Once inside, my eyes were pleasantly greeted by an onslaught of baked goods. We sampled some of the bite-sized cakes as well as a cannoli and a lobster tail. Normally, I'm not a fan of pastries that uses cream filling, but let me tell you: the lobster tail was HEAVEN. I couldn't believe how much I loved it. A light, not too sweet cream filling on the inside, wrapped by a deliciously crunchy and flakey shell. It was fantastic! The other baked goods were great as well. I tried the cappuccino which was delightfully light and did not require any sugar. Easily one of the best cappuccinos I've had, and puts Starbucks to shame. Received friendly service from the staff. Decor does not match the name. Before I came in, I thought this is an old fashioned coffee shop. But I was wrong. The sitting area has a very modern look and feel, tables and chairs are definitely Ikea style in my opinion. Great coffees and pastries at very reasonable price. Cappuccinos only $2.95, mini pastries $1.25. The waitress speaks soft English with a cute accents, and it sounded like music to my ears. I love this place very much, will definitely return to try more. It would be great if this place got couches and coffee tables instead of those Ikea style chairs and tables. read more
