We got take out, and it did not disappoint. The Felix sandwich with potatoes and pancakes was the bomb! The grilled English muffin and jalapeño made it delicious. Service was great and old time ambiance

Fits 15 but had no wait for 2 on a weekday

Believe the hype!! Such a cute place, seated very quickly for 2, a family of 4 had to wait maybe 20 minutes? Friendly staff and simple menu so it's not overwhelming. But wow, the food was amazing. Medium eggs cooked to perfection, their palace potatoes are fried and crispy but creamy on the inside - I personally loved it with ketchup, and the flapjacks were like a Dutch griddle cake - moist with butter just dripping off. The maple syrup added the most delicate sweetness - don't think I've had a syrup like it. The bacon could be a tad bit crispier but that's just my preference - still was yummy. Hubby and I shared the lumberjack meal, bottomless coffee and an OJ, and it was well worth it & perfect to share (they do have a sharing fee $3/plate). We took coffee bag home that tandem roasts just for them - felt it was the best diner coffee we've had and can't wait to go back!

Tuna melt

Lumberjack Breakfast

After attending an event with Phil Rosenthal, where he spoke so highly of the Palace Diner, I could not resist the opportunity to come try it. Since it was my last morning in town before flying home, I was sure to get up early to be one of the first customers; given the limited seating, I was extremely nervous that I would not be able to dine here without risk of missing my flight. However, I was pleasantly surprised when I showed up on a Wednesday morning and was not only the first customer to enter the diner when they opened, but actually the only customer in the diner the entire time I was there. I know that is not great for business, but in speaking with the waitress, she informed me that typically in the off-season there is not quite the rush that they experience in the summer months. All of that being said, this quaint little rail car diner was everything I hoped it would be and more. I decided to order the lumberjack breakfast so that I could get a balance of sweet and savory, and also try their infamous flapjacks and breakfast potatoes. The flapjacks were fluffy perfection and I ended up taking a side order to-go with me on my flight. The breakfast potatoes were perfectly crispy on the outside while somehow maintaining a soft delicate interior. My eggs were scrambled perfectly and the breakfast sausage added a nice kick of protein that I needed. The service could not have been more friendly and engaging - although I'm not sure the waitress really had a choice since I was her only customer (just kidding, she was lovely!) They are a cash only spot and there is some parking nearby.

What a cool spot! A very retro take on a diner with limited seating and decor to amp up the atmosphere. Breakfast was amazing, the pancakes were so fluffy! We lucked out and got the last two seats when we walked in and got drinks and food quick! The 2 Lumberjack Specials were about $23 a piece which is a bit on the high end but I believe you pay for the experience at a place like this and it was worth it.

One of the best chicken sandwiches I've ever tasted. Wow!

What a great dining experience! Having lunch in a 100-year-old dining car with only 16 seats at the counter was such a fun experience. The real spotlight should be on the quality of the food. We ordered three completely different items, each was excellent and made with high-quality ingredients. A great example, my daughter ordered a traditional breakfast plate. The pancakes were light as a feather, perfectly cooked with a hint of lemon in the mix. And, the syrup, pure maple syrup, is superb. There is a wait, but they take your phone number and will text you when your seats are ready. Waiting gave us time to visit some of the unique stores in town, only minutes away on foot. Bring cash; they don't do credit cards. But they do have an ATM outside. Grab a seat at the counter, and you will promise yourself that you will return.

Quaint diner to enjoy a meal. Limited seating in this dining car so ensure you plan accordingly. Not made for large groups with less than 20 stools at single bar to eat from. CASH ONLY so come prepared! Service is quick and very friendly. Not a wait on a Thursday morning. Little disappointed with being out of corned beef hash when arriving at 0830 for breakfast. Chose to do the eggs, toast, potatoes with a side of ham instead. Food came out timely while I enjoyed the bottomless coffee. Standard diner food, but recommend the potatoes as they were delicious (albeit a little on the salty side if that is a concern for you, the ham as well). If you are looking for a nostalgic step back in time dining experience, stop by the Palace Diner while in town to enjoy a quick enjoyable meal.

Ridiculousness

I have eaten breakfast here before-it was mediocre. Service was ok, we were pretty much ignored in the beginning although there were only 3 other people there. I cannot even remember what I got but I remember thinking it was a waste of $. As for the ambiance-it's a fiber with a counter & stools (no tables), it was uncomfortable & freezing inside. Decided to give them a try for lunch, I have read so much about how amazing their fried chicken sandwich is, so I entered that online and see the sandwich is $22...to get fries with that it is another $8.50...ok, I think it's my birthday & my husband and I can split it all so that's only about $15 a piece. Go to put order in and there is an AUTOMATIC 22% gratuity added that cannot be changed or removed. Let me get this straight-ya'll are charging $30.50 for a chicken sandwich and fries (nothing special-no antibiotic free range chicken, probably saline packed chicken from China ‍) AND you think it's ok to tack on 22% tip for LUNCH TAKE OUT???? Sooooo that's $40.56 for a chicken sandwich and fries, tax + tip. ‍ Yeah, no. I would not eat here if they were the last restaurant on earth. I love supporting local, but how greedy can you be?

Lumberjack special

Awesome!!! This is an old school (1927) dine cart. Almost 100 years old! It has about 12 seats at the counter. The waitresses are polite and professional. The places radiants nostalgia. I was immediately served water and coffee as I requested. I ordered the lumberjack special. It came with five medium sized buttermilk pancakes, potatoes, two eggs (over easy) and four strips of bacon. Everything was outstanding but the bacon was probably the top three bacon I have ever had. It was thick and crispy and the flavor boom! So good! Highly recommend!!! Oh and it's cash only. Go check it out!!

The right half of the diner.

Wow just wow! Please note the Palace Diner is NOT your 'greasy spoon' style roadside restaurant this place serves upscale diner food so be prepared to pay for it - cash only! Don't worry there is a frightening looking ATM outside the diner and it does work. The food here is truly phenomenal and worth the price and the service is fantastic. After all, you're all sitting at the counter so you're easy to check up on for coffee refills etc. Open daily from 7-2 and there is limited seating but you can check out the waitlist online if you're wondering if you will get a seat upon arrival. The smashed style potatoes are incredible as is the unique caramelized grapefruit. The flapjacks are fluffy and more like pancakes and are also delicious. The breakfast sandwich will blow you away. Nice local coffee is served up hot! I definitely recommend you come here daily it's that good.

If you're looking for one of the best breakfast and lunch spots in Biddeford, Maine, you absolutely need to check out Palace Diner! This iconic little diner is set up inside a vintage trailer/box car style building right in the heart of downtown Biddeford. Seating is limited to about a dozen people at a time, so be prepared to wait -- but trust me, it's worth it. After my fiancée watched an episode of Somebody Feed Phil featuring the diner, we were on a mission to try their famous chicken sandwich. The sandwich absolutely lived up to the hype! It's huge, packed with flavor, and served with a fresh lettuce wedge salad on the side. The chicken had the perfect crispy exterior while staying juicy and delicious inside. We could only eat half and happily brought the rest home. Luckily, it was a beautiful Maine day and we didn't have to wait long for a seat. The staff were incredibly friendly, welcoming, and added to the fantastic overall vibe of the diner. One thing to know before you go -- the diner is cash only, but there's an ATM conveniently located right outside. If you love hidden gems, amazing comfort food, and unique local dining experiences, Palace Diner is definitely a must-visit spot in southern Maine. Highly recommended and absolutely worth the trip back!

blueberry flapjacks

We loved Palace Diner! Went on a Monday morning around 10am and waited about thirty minutes. Well worth the wait! You can stroll around the shops in Biddeford while you wait. August's special of blueberry flapjacks were so good!

This was the best breakfast plate I have ever had and I'm not joking when I say that. The Bacon and Potatoes were perfectly cooked. The eggs were some of the best scrambled eggs I have ever had and the pancakes were amazing as well. The people behind the counter are so kind and I never had to wait more than 30 seconds for my water to be filled up. The cooks are extremely quick and get food out fast. If you are looking for a good breakfast spot, I highly recommend this one.

Famous Becky's on Commercial street…read more Met up with a friend here after landing at the Jetport. Found parking up front, which was amazing. Place was packed. But there were a couple seats at the bar. Waitress was nice. Ordered wild Maine blueberry pancakes with real Maine maple syrup. Syrup came in the cutest little glass bottle, with Becky's logo on it. Also a big ball of butter that was melty and soft that I spread around the enormous 2 pancakes. No way was I going to finish these fluffy pancakes. I did my best though. Delicious breakfast for lunch. Great service. Obviously the place to be in Maine as it was packed.

What the heck? I'm notorious for doing that and for stockpiling draft reviews. So after that long intro...let's actually talk about Becky's. Becky's is a waterfront staple in Portland. She's been around since the early 90s ('91 I think). The current incarnation of Becky's came about in the early 2000s where she went from a small shack type building to a two-story structure with a deck. This is a quintessential old school waterfront diner. You can get brekkie and seafood all day long. The diner doesn't only attract waterfront workers but locals, tourists, and celebs too. Sometimes there's a line to get in and other times not. Regardless, service is always so amazing. Super friendly and the food comes out fast. The food is good old-fashioned diner fare. No frills all flavor. My absolute favorite things are the blueberry pie and the blueberry cake. The dessert case will leave you drooling. Trust me when I say every morsel that hits your mouth will be the greatest thing your lips have ever tasted. Just look at my pics...they speak a thousand words, and then some. My favorite part is that it still feels part of the mill system while having an updated aesthetic. It doesn't feel out of place - it feels right IN place. We had to park at the lot near the mill buildings and water and walk a pretty good distance to get to the restaurant but I guess I could use a few steps. Walked in it was very loud where they wanted to seat us under the canopy where there were some unruly bar patrons so they brought us to a quieter area. We sat for a long while before being greeted by our server. But we still wanted to give it a shot. We ordered poutine with portobello mushrooms and the three tables around us got their full meals before we got our appetizer. Then, she took our main course order and like the app, the food took forever and we are usually very patient. The server was super nice but just was very slow and the fries in the poutine were cold. The main course was a root salad that my wife thought was pretty good with turnips and vinaigrette. I had clam chowder and calamari/shrimp dish ... I paid almost 20 bucks for the calamari and got about 5 pieces and 4 small shrimp and the chowder had no flavor. We then asked for a box to put her salad in and the waitress forgot. Until she realized as she was dropping off the check. I don't think we will be back .. maybe just for the outdoor patio ambiance but, not the food.
