Mike's is the go-to place for breakfast for both locals and tourists in Kennebunk. So, be prepared to wait! Unless you come early in the morning (before 8 am). Most recently, we came by at 10 am on a Saturday and waited about an hour for a table for 5. There are picnic tables out front, some bench seating in the shade, and some seats inside to wait. You could also shop at the outfitters store next door and the décor shop nearby while you wait. Mike's also has another location in Arundel. This location has indoor and outdoor seating. The patio is covered too. I find myself ordering something different every time I'm here. There are so many options for breakfast and lunch that there is really something for everyone. There are plenty of egg options, crepes, pancakes, and sandwiches. My family's favorites include the ruben and pastrami sandwiches. The tuna salad sandwich is also really good. During our most recent visit the specials included a lobster benedict. Lattes comes in big mugs (~ 16 oz.) and there are also boozy options like mimosas. The best thing about Mike's is the servers. They are so attentive.

Tea pot

Not our first time here, may be our last. We waited at least 5 minutes to give our name for a table. It got worse from there. The wait was only 10 minutes. A waiter approached a few minutes after we sat down. He took our beverage order and thank goodness we said we would give our order at that time. After placing our order we never saw our waiter again. The coffee was lukewarm and we waited 25 minutes for our breakfast! We did notice a table around us who were seated prior to us didn't have their order either. They got theirs and were given a free pastry plate. Another table seated after us were also given the pastries "for waiting." We did not. There appeared to be one person working the tables, not our waiter - as mentioned we never saw him again. The one person working then handed me his computer, said add the tip and walked away. We waited another 5 minutes for him to return, he did not! Horrible service, selective perks! The only good thing was the pretty tea pot. We hope the group from Atlanta that we spoke to while waiting had a better experience than we told them they would.

Heard great things about Mike's All Day Breakfast and it didn't disappoint. Our server Mike was quick and attentive. We sat on the patio, which was super cute. The iced French vanilla latte was delicious, but the eggs Benedict was my favorite, that hollandaise sauce was chef's kiss. The wait was a bit long, but totally worth it. Will definitely be back!

Stopped in today on the way to Portland for the week. So far on our vacation this has been the best meal we have had. Nestled in a what appears to be an old house or building it's just the right size. Friendliest staff you could ask for. The food was out of this world. You couldn't ask for more perfect eggs. Really wish we had a location back home in Ohio. Check it out if you're in the area.

Blueberry pancake with blueberry compote we shared.

We had a delicious breakfast at Mike's. The food was top notch - hubby had the egg breakfast with sausage links, potatoes & toast. I ordered a breakfast melt sandwich with the bacon. It was huge and had two medium fried eggs, melted cheddar on both slices of sourdough toast and thick, smoky bacon. I ordered a side of blueberry pancake and compote. In hindsight, we wish we had simply shared my breakfast, which was big enough to satisfy us both. Our food was amazing and our check would have been half the amount had we simply shared. #eyesbiggerthanbelly The service was OK. It was fairly slow when we arrived, but we stood at the counter way too long before we were seated. We finally got a nice sunny spot on the patio and were quickly given water and menus. We started off with mimosas (two can easily share one). It was a bit slow getting our order in as our server was busy with others. But he was very friendly and handled our orders well. Just know you can easily share some of the menu items. We are older and don't need huge quantities, but anybody could share the melted egg sandwich which comes with two eggs and melted cheese on two slices of sourdough toast and fried potatoes on the side. Definitely recommend this place for a quality breakfast, just don't over-order like we did! Our $78 (with tip) check could have been cut in half and we still would have left full & satisfied.

Lobster Eggs Benedict and home fries

We're staying in Portland and drove to Kennebunkport and Ogunquit for the day. We stopped at Mike's for brunch. We had a short wait. I don't know if they didn't have enough servers, but there were a number of open tables and everyone had to wait. Anyway, we were seated and offered drinks. Christine was our server and she was great - very friendly and personable. There was a lobster eggs Benedict special with home fries and we both got it! It was so good and there was a crazy amount of lobster on our plates. And the home fries were delicious as well. I couldn't finish everything on my plate, but I left no lobster! We didn't ask the price, and it wasn't mentioned, but there was a bit of sticker shock when we got the bill! I highly recommend this place if you're in the area!

Mike's All Day Breakfast taught me how to love again. I have never felt so cared for and so held by a dining experience more than I did here. The waiter, also named Mike, was one of the kindness individuals I've ever met and he took great care of us. We got the Lobster Benedict and were thoroughly surprised with how much lobster it came with, it tasted fantastic. We got mimosas and a peach crepe as well, the food was delicious. Great ambiance for both inside and outside dining, if you're in the area or even passing by you need to stop by!

After trying to get crepes from a spot in Kennebunk that turned out to not be making them that day, we turned to Mike's All Day Breakfast because we saw they had savory crepes on the menu. We had a ham and cheddar crepe, kielbasa omelette, and corned beef hash. We thought the inside of the crepes could've used more cheese, and though nothing was bad, we found it to be one of the more average breakfasts during our trip. Nice seating on the covered outdoor patio and the staff was very attentive with coffee refills.

Mimosas!

The staff was genuinely friendly, service was outstanding, and the food was fantastic! Hubby got the house hash omelet and enjoyed its spiciness, along with generous sides. I chose a pancake that was the size of a dinner plate and done just right--a bit crispy on the outside and fluffy inside. The only bummer is a few bites tasted of onions and vegetables...ugh! Next time we're in Wells we will *definitely* go back to Merriland Farm, but I'll get tea bread (a baked good) instead of pancakes in order to avoid the whole griddle flavor transfer situation, which is NOT a knock on this restaurant; it's meant to be a helpful note for others with ARFID and/or on the spectrum with food/sensory issues.

For our food, the meat pie was so flavorful and fresh. My mom loved her eggs Benedict, and we split a blueberry pancake which was delicious. The homemade whipped cream and real maple syrup really topped it off great. I NEED to try the blueberry French toast or crepes so we will be back!! My only complaint was how busy it was. We made a reservation and we weren't seated until around 20 minutes after that time slot. Not a big deal, but there's really no good place to stand and we constantly we were in the way of other guests/servers. Anyone trying to walk in quickly left after hearing it was a 1.5 hour wait for a table so reservations are a MUST. We came on a weekend in October. Additionally, the room we were seated in was only heated by one small heater so it was pretty chilly. But totally worth it for the food! Staff was also very attentive and friendly despite how busy it was.

She was full of recommendations (i.e. Goose Rocks Beach) and was friendly and kind without being overbearing. We showed up a bit late and the key was left in a coded lock box for us. The room was compact, but fine for my husband and I for our 2 night stay. We knew beforehand that breakfast would be boxed for us and that was fine. I was happy that they provided yogurt was Chobani and actually had some protein in it (unlike most continental breakfasts that are a carb party). We rented bikes and kayaks during our stay. It was great that they had these for us to utilize. The bikes should be covered during storage, however. They were a bit rusty. This was the priciest place that we stayed during our 7 night trip, but I wouldn't consider it the best. After our stay, I do feel that our stay should not have cost us so much.

The room was beautiful and the bed and pillows were comfortable. The room was a little tight on space and the toilet is right next to the door so is a little awkward. Modern power plugs convenient to the bed were not in evidence. There was a sitting chair but no where to sit and eat or to work. The desk folks were very nice and helpful with local suggestions for eating and things to do. ***VERY not happy with the continental breakfast. You shouldn't list yourself as a B&B and have continental breakfast. Being a B&B implies hot breakfast... period!*** Not only that, there was hardly anything on it... there was only orange juice, coffee, and tea... no apple or any other kind of juice. There was yogurt and fruit but there was only one kind of cereal (Cheerios), only 2 kinds of bread... white and wheat... No pastries, muffins, bagels, croissants, rolls, English muffins, doughnuts, etc. To be fair, I think there was oatmeal and there was banana bread that was pretty good. The one good thing I can say about the breakfast is that it was available at 7:30am instead of 8:30 like some of the other B&Bs we stayed at on this trip. ***Almost all of the other reviews of this place had HOT breakfast on them so I guess we were just ripped off.*** I would love to give this place a great review and I would probably have come back if it weren't for the breakfast ripoff.

We started the evening with cocktails which were very much to our liking, followed by a delicious appetizer of lobster risotto that we shared. We both ordered the short ribs which were mouthwatering and cooked to perfection that the meat fell off the bone. The servings were enough where we took the bones and whatever meat was left to make a delicious beef soup. Neither one of us were up for dessert but decided to get two to go, which we downed once we got home. And they were both delicious. In closing, I'd be remiss without saying a good word about our server Keila. She was warm, friendly, funny, and very attentive to our table. She made our night to enjoyable! Thanks you Keila ! If you loved Village Tavern under the previous owners, you should know that the beloved restaurant you remember no longer exists. The name is the same. The esthetic is the same. Some menu items even have the same names. But the experience is not. During our visit, the calamari, salmon, duck, and haddock were all cooked properly, yet each dish was surprisingly bland and forgettable. Many longtime favorites, including the wide selection of side dishes like the broccoli with blue cheese, are gone. This isn't a bad restaurant on its own merits. The problem is that it's trading on the reputation of something that no longer exists. What I find most puzzling is that the new owners kept the Village Tavern name while abandoning so much of what made it successful. When a restaurant has earned decades of loyalty, you would expect new ownership to preserve its strengths. Instead, it feels like they discarded the very things that built its reputation. I left disappointed, but mostly sad. A restaurant I once considered one of the best in Southern Maine is now simply pedestrian and overly priced. Former fans should adjust their expectations accordingly or avoid the disappointment altogether.
