Steak and eggs with lobster mac and cheese

This is such a nice place to stay for a few days! The owner, Caroline was so kind and very helpful. She was really eager to recommend places to go out (dinner, drinks etc.) and circled some stuff on the map for us. When she thought of something else we might enjoy she made a point to give us the brochure etc. The grounds are nice. There is a nice outdoor space with picnic tables and chairs for stargazing. The decor is really nice, and you can see the small thoughtful touches throughout. If you can afford it, I would definitely recommend staying in a room with a view of the water. We stayed in the cheapest room and it was on the porch with a straight shot view of the parking lot and no natural light. The room itself was very nice, but I guess that was the only negative (really nothing they could do about it, but just an FYI for those looking to book). And of course.. saving the best point for last-- the amazing 3 course breakfast. Elegantly decorated fruit plate, 2 amuse bouche (1 sweet, 1 savory) and a giant entree. Plenty of options!! Lobster mac and cheese is acceptable to eat at 10AM here! :P

Sitting area next to the Inn. Great spot to watch the hummingbirds at the feeders!

My family stayed in the inn's Shannon Cottage which is just adjacent to the main inn. The cottage was great - 3 beds, 2 bathrooms both with showers, tvs with dvd and vcr, a little kitchen with stovetop, microwave, dishes, cutlery, and a few other cooking implements. The inn even has a book and dvd library. Beautiful view of the river and the hummingbirds which feed frequently at the many feeders. Awesome location - right nextdoor to Mabels Lobster Claw which served fantastic dinner, ice cream and takeout. The inn is also a 2 minute walk to a small beach which is great for seaglass hunting and fishing off the breakers at the entrance to the harbor. We caught a 30 inch striper! It's also a 1.5 mi scenic walk to Walker Point. I have to say the highlight of our stay were the complimentary gourmet breakfasts every morning from 8-10. Tony (the chef) is incredible and has a great taste for food. There is always a sweet and a savory option, and Tony can always do standard breakfast fare for the less adventurous. Various cookies and bars are put out in the afternoon for late snacking as well. It's a 5 minute drive into downtown Kennebunkport which is charming as well. Dan is a great host, and I plan on coming back again.

The place seems nice we tried to go here for breakfast but the menu was limited and the prices were exorbitantly high.

We didn't stay in the inn, but 10 stars to their breakfast/brunch services! Had our Yorkie with us, went to places that claimed to be dog friendly (they literally had one table outside), then stumbled here and was beyond thrilled. It takes 1-2 hours to get through the courses and we were so happy to wait because the end game was worth it. 3-4 courses, the food couldn't have been more delicious, they incorporated seafood in virtually every item, and they were so insanely accommodating as well as reasonably priced for what you're served. Best meal I've had in New England hands down (considering I've been coming here for 12 years with my husband, I don't mean that lightly)

This is the separate cottage that has one bedroom on the top floor and two beds on the second floor

The inn has lots of large but cozy rooms open to the guests. Just a lovely place. My only little complaint was the pillows. But pillows are a tough one to get right.

Plus, it was a bit noisy at 7am -I could hear the people on the floor above me using the bathroom and creaking floors when they walked; I could also hear them putting out breakfast in the sunroom below with the clanging of the dishes and the doors closing. If you prefer to stay at a bed-and-breakfast, then this might be a good place for you. The house was nicely furnished; my Junior suite was clean and fairly comfortable (although for some odd reason, the furniture was unusually low to the ground), and it was interesting from a historical perspective. It just really wasn't my style. One last FYI if you decide to stay there - there's no yard or street signage at any of the houses except the Nathaniel Lord Mansion - I drove around in circles looking for the Jefferds house.....

You're going to slog your luggage to your room yourself, perhaps in the rain or snow, from the parking lot, and most likely up a flight or, heaven forbid you booked one of the rooms on the third floor, up 2 flights of stairs. There always appeared to be just one staff person at the hotel, handling the front desk. The inn is very convenient to dock square. We only drove to dinner one night, the rest of the stay we had quite nice meals within a block or so of the hotel. We stayed in the perkins suite on the second floor. Nice sized room. Roomy bathroom, good shower, decent counter space and several drawers. Felt clean and new, like it had been remodeled not long ago. You knew you were in an older hotel, but the room was clean and well kept. Comfortable seating in front of the TV. They've upgraded to a larger TV than shows on many pictures. It was easy to pull out from the wall and switch out the hotel cable feed for our own streaming device. Plenty of convenient outlets. Good sized fridge. Bed comfortable and room can be kept reasonably dark and cold. A small missed opportunity not having a few more pieces of furniture in the room. There was plenty of available space where they could have put a small desk for working, a bench at the foot of the bed, or a floor lamp for evening lighting. All of these would have not crowded the room and would have made the stay more pleasant. Continental breakfast provided is very basic. If you want to be in the midst of Kennebunkport action, it's a good place to stay. But there are many other great options in the area, and the lack of service, especially around help with check in/out is enough to prevent us from ever returning.

The first room was claustrophobic ( very small ) We didn't eat there but that was just because of the mindset created by the lack of cleanliness throughout the rest of the building! I would bet they haven't vacuumed or swept in a month? We stayed only after she upgraded our room but boy was it sad! Surprisingly there were a few other guests that I guess were ok?? Who knows, don't stay here unless the rest are full! So much potential???
