Great location right in the center of town but the rooms were way too small and way over priced. The front desk closes at 4pm? Appears the restaurant is nice but you need reservations and No bar for guests in the hotel to get a drink? I know it's a tourist trap but put a little of that money back into the place. read more

The Grand Hotel is a great little hotel on a Main Street in Kennebunk. The location is perfect to get out and walk around, eat and shop. The hotel itself is very clean. The room comes with robes and a Kruig coffee machine. Because of covid they do have a little set up downstairs in the lobby with coffee and tea, extra towels and toiletries so that you have everything you need without housekeeping. In addition, they also leave a cute breakfast bag hanging on your door in the morning with local pastries! Ours had two slices of blueberry bread, orange, orange juice and yogurt. Additionally, the hotel did let us check in very early and it was extremely appreciated! Would absolutely stay here again. read more

No where to eat it in the lounge but we understand they are planning to shift that space from a gallery to an area with tables/chairs. Needed. Great location in town. Good value. Easy parking. Hotel gets a 3 but loses a star for complete and utter lack of service, so overall a 2. The Grand Hotel is the step child to their Inn across the bridge. The rooms are small, and inconsistent. Some have a balcony, some have carpet stains, some get two chairs, ours had none of the above. All rooms have access to a painfully slow elevator. There is visible wear throughout but it is comfortable enough and generally clean. This was completely a DIY experience a la air b-n-b. There is nobody to greet you, instead you help yourself to an envelope in a box and start your adventure. Although staff is "shared" between locations, we only saw one employee on the last day. We had multiple rooms and needed them for a complete experience -- one had no hangers, only one had a working hair dryer. The QR code in the "welcome" packet instructs us to text with any issues but texts are not returned so this became like a camping expedition with the limited resources at hand. They offer a daily breakfast "with a baked good" which varies by day, "but there is always a baked good"--until there isn't. We had factory made overnight oats, OJ and a granny smith apple. OJ and a granny smith. Let that sink in for a moment as your tongue retracts down your throat. With no table in the room, we followed their suggestion of eating in their "art gallery" which is quaint, with decent art one might even consider buying for your own home, but an "art gallery" not a cafeteria nor restaurant. Needless to say this space is also devoid of tables...bon appetit! The lack of service continues even after your stay. Despite the reservation for multiple rooms being under one name, a special trip was made to the Inn for the express reason of splitting up the bill. They were able to do it, but then ALSO charged all the rooms again to the original card anyway. Double dipping could have been a mistake but ignoring the multiple calls and messages all day today and then outright hanging up when I called was not cool. There is clearly no call center here, just an over-worked desk attendant who is clearly making many unfortunate mistakes. read more

The hotel is in a beautiful location. However there was no service. A similar review was posted below and I echo everything they wrote. The carpet had stains, the paper thin walls, hard to use heater and a non working tv remote. Not to mention we didn't have access to WiFi and when we called the kennebunkport inn we pressed 0 for the operator/front desk but were then greeted with the answering machine. This was truly a build your own adventure and I wish I had dug deeper into reviews to find that out prior. Overall this was a good spot to put your stuff while you explored. But If you want service we would recommend their main hotel the kennebunkport inn. It seems like they have help around the property. read more

Was very much looking forward to staying at this hotel. We had to call to change our reservation, spoke to a phone rep who was suppose to call me back. Never did, when I called an hour later they were closed. Left a voicemail as instructed, no return call. Called the following day and spoke to a very helpful associate Alexis. She was great. However the reservation had a strange notation the change was a one time exception and would not be able to change again without a full 1 night penalty. I was changing ahead of their 48 hour window so was very confused about the "exception". Asked to speak to a manager but one was not available and would have to call me back. Since it was approaching the 48 hour cutover and I was unable to get any clarity on policy i cancelled and paid the $50 fee. It was not Alexis's fault she tried. But it was the poor service of the day before and the lack of management policy clarity or support that left me with a bad taste. Sad it looks like a very nice hotel read more

We stayed here in August, 2021. We chose this hotel for the location and the photos we saw online. It is a contactless check-in. Very odd. Our key was left in a box near the front door. We had room 307. Much to our dismay, it was nothing like the photo. The bed and 2 nightstands took up the whole room. There were no chairs. This is nothing like the room that is pictured on their website in this category. We could not get anyone on the phone and had to walk up the street to the sister hotel, where there was staff. We ended up staying in the room at a reduced rate. There were 3 bicycles for the whole hotel and we missed out on using them the second day. read more

As our stay approached, I was shocked when my wife showed me an email offering a rate less than half of what we paid for our same stay. Happily after calling the resort to inquire about the discrepancy the hotel generously offered us the reduced rate and apologized for our earlier inconvenience. My mom and I planned a last minute trip up to Maine and ended up being able to book a room at the Grand Hotel through the Hotel Tonight app. The price is definitely a bit high, especially this late in the season, but I would absolutely stay here again. When we arrived we got a glass of champagne which was a really nice welcome! Heated bathroom floors, friendly staff, cozy beds, giant showers, clean rooms- everything that I could've asked for. They even left a box of extra coffee, mouthwash, lotion, etc. out at the front desk in case you needed anything overnight and then sent us off with some water and candy when we checked out. Great location, quiet, calm.. My only wish is that they had a breakfast option within the hotel but luckily there are plenty of options just around the corner. We had a great stay here and would 100% recommend it to others. read more

If this is your first stay in Kennebunkport, this is a great place to start! Right on the Main Street, lined with shops, restaurants and charter tours, the Grand Hotel will allow you to experience this lovely town by foot. The hotel is very well appointed, and sells out quickly. The linens are beautiful as is the decor. there is a little reading nook in each of the rooms. the washrooms, although small, have good faucets and design detail, including heated floors, that makes up for the size. The rooms are too small to give it a five star rating- and since there is no dining room, packages include breakfast at David's KPT (a nice 4 minute walk) which was well-priced and delicious. The staff is friendly and helpful- we enjoyed our stay- but Kennebunkport is so small and quaint, why not try out other hotels? read more

This hotel looked great on the website. Wish it had been as impressive in reality. We stayed in the Chase Hill Suite. It was over-priced ($400+) for a jr suite with no view and badly in need of renovation (stained carpeting throughout, wires hanging out below the TV, very noisy HVAC system). In addition, there was a $15.00/night "resort fee" which was increased to $20.00 on our bill. This was supposed to cover continental breakfast; on-site parking; WiFi; bottled water; complimentary pantry with limited snacks/toiletries; bicycles; kayaks/canoe/SUP at Kennebunkport Marina; beach towels/chairs; Kennebunk Beach parking; shuttle to/from local restaurants. The room rates should easily cover the on-site amenities and off-site amenities were either not available (shuttle service) or of no use to us in mid-October. The Grand is not even a full-service hotel. There is no on-site restaurant, and the staff leave at 7p with a phone number provided in case of emergencies. The positives were the convenient location (even without views) and the pleasant, accommodating staff. The few requests we made were handled immediately, including removing the "resort fee" from our final bill. (Evidently, that fee is a common guest complaint.) We will return to the Kennebunks, but we will find another hotel for our future visits. read more

Perfect stay in Kennebunkport! Clean rooms, updated baths with heated tile floors. Coffee, tea and pastries in the morning. The place was so quiet we didn't hear any of the other guests on our two night stay. Excellent location within walking distance to everything in town. We borrowed the bikes and rode to Goose Rocks beach. It was the most romantic weekend. Will definitely stay again on our next visit! read more

Not sure if they have not got " back on track" since Covid....But really disappointing recent stay - I always try and stay here due to their elevated presentation and attention to detail that I experienced a few Years ago....Granted it is off Season, but the bathroom in this particular room needed to be cleaned properly - ( Urine marks on the floor in front of the toilet ) Not enough towels, the tissue box was all rusted out, the toilet kept running and one tiny bottle of lotion - and the few guests they did have they placed them all together? If I have not checked out yet, I don't want to listen to the cleaning( banging around ) and loud conversation in the room next to me while trying to take a conference call - Overall the carpet in room and on the stairs is worn out and needs to be replaced - same for overall furnishings...tired and outdated - need neutrals and a "clean space" to relax. Hope they get it together - unfortunately not a lot of options, The Boathouse was closed. Looking forward for things to improve as the vaccines keep on coming and you get back to a Luxury Hotel - not a Hampton Inn... !!! read more

My wife and I stayed here for the first time in early July 2015 for one overnight stay mid week. We were greeted warmly by the person at the desk. We planned on just parking because we were there a couple of hours before check-in. We were in luck because the room was ready. We were thrilled to see our room. We thought the room was upscale and the details in the bathroom were fantastic! Room 204. We had a king-sized bed, a beautiful bathroom with heated floors and a brand new stand up shower, a small sitting area, and a small porch we could stand out on and see the river and shops in front of the hotel. The bed had great linen, comfortable pillows and the Whoopie Pie waiting on it when we arrived was delicious. We thought the room was quiet, even though other reviews I've read said they heard lots of noise from the 3rd floor, we never had any issues. Although the room was a 'Grand Petite King' room, and was small, we found we had plenty of room for our things and loved the small sitting area that was available. The room must be locked with your room key if you are out for the night, no self locking. A small fridge would have been helpful so we could have milk in the morning, but the convenient bagged ice and K Cup machine was enough for our one night stay. We will definitely be back. read more

We stayed for 2 nights in Sept. I called the night before to request early check in. I spoke with Carly who told me that it would be no problem, and that in fact my room had already been cleaned and inspected. I was just to contact in the morning with my arrival time. I did that, and then contacted multiple times after arrival. It was early - 11:30, so I didn't expect to be checked in right away, but I did expect to be checked in early. I was assured all that was needed to accommodate early check in was to from someone to walk a key over from the Inn to the Hotel. My room was guaranteed by 3; however. by 3:15, I still hadn't heard that the room was ready. I went to the hotel anyway to check, and found my key. There was no packet with my name. Literally anyone off the street could have grabbed that key. Completely insecure. When I asked the staff what happened, they said "sorry, we're busy". When I got to the room, I found food from a previous patron in the ice bucket. If that was left after room inspection, what else was not cleaned or inspected? Frankly disgusting. The room was absolutely freezing. 60 degrees when we arrived. We adjusted temp, but it took a full day to return to a normal temp. The room was tiny with not enough storage for even 2 days of clothing for 2 people. The next day, we attempted to take the "free" bicycles out. They were terrible. Tires flat, gear shifts broken, and brakes not tuned. Our ride was very unpleasant, and we had to walk the bikes much of the way. They were difficult to ride and dangerous. We ultimately had to rent bikes anyway. I understand it is a boutique property, but for $400 a night, I expect more for my money. At minimum-check in at the promised time, a clean room, livable temperatures, and a courteous live person on staff on the premises. COVID is not an excuse to charge a premium for subpar service. The only action taken was to remove the ice bucket and food after I put it in the hallway. I sent this review to the General Manager and have not heard any response. read more

A party of three couples planning a mini get-away tried to book here. Between us we made eight calls to the reservations number over a period of two days. Each time the front desk picked up and gave the same response:: "Oh, they must have stepped out" and then took detailed contact information from us. None of us ever received a call back. The newest spot from the collection of hotels from KRC. Situated up on the hill (Chalk Hill road) by the bridge that connects Kennebunk to Kennebunkport. This small hotel is convenient to everything in the square and right across the street from HB Provisions. There's three floors to the place, first floor is check in and a shop (Coffee shop and take out joint called Kitchen Chicks). The front desk is staffed from 8am to 8pmish. They're super friendly and willing to help with whatever your needs are during your stay. Our room was a corner room and a bit bigger than some of the other rooms we peaked into. We were happy to have the extra space and a small balcony. The linens were nice and the bed was super comfy. The room had a small flat screen tv and there was ample lighting around the room. Bose docks for charging your ipod and even wireless internet (Not the best in our room). Very comfy room over all! Ample storage for clothes in the closet and dressers. The bathroom had a great shower and HEATED FLOORS! The product was L'occitane Verbena. But the heated floors were the best for our chilly nights and mornings in October. read more

Don't stay at this "hotel", it's horrible. We booked a room online at a cost of $502 for a one night stay on July 7, 2022. The first red flag is that they don't have a check-in desk on premises because the first floor is an art gallery. There wasn't much art on display and the walls looked tired and dated with nail holes all over the place. We took a look at the room and immediately determined that it was a ripoff at any price. The hallways and room, although clean, were equally tired and dated. The place needs a total facelift, the carpets were stained and threadbare, walls marked and soiled. We were fortunate enough to find another room elsewhere in town, but we had to scramble. Here's the kicker, we tried to get our money back by filing a dispute with Mastercard and it got rejected. Good job "Grand Hotel", I hope the $500 was worth it, because if there was a zero star rating that's what you actually deserve. The website totally misrepresents the quality of the establishment. read more

The hotel is in a great location, walking distance to downtown. We paid almost $400 for a room with a balcony. The room was large - a suite with a kitchenette & nice bathroom, and the balcony was lovely. However, the carpet was covered in stains and the air conditioner was both extremely loud and not capable of cleaning the room. On top of that, the customer service was challenging. There was no front desk staff on site - a remote desk by phone and a texting service. We arrived at 3 pm (time of check in), and could not get a straight answer from the remote desk, nor the texting service, when our room might be ready (despite it being guaranteed check in time). The employee on the remote desk line was difficult to speak with, and while the texting service was very polite and trying to be helpful, we stood in the parking lot for almost 20 minutes waiting to get an answer (as could not get into the hotel without a key, and the electronic key had not been sent and ultimately did not work). Overall, not worth the cost and won't be returning. read more

One of the main reasons we chose this hotel was because they offered balconies. Before booking I called to confirm which rooms had them (which of course you pay extra for). Upon arrival yesterday and entering our room our "balcony" is all of a 4 ft wide by 6ft space with NO privacy; so small that it's uncomfortable to have more than one person on it. After explaining my concerns to the front desk she explained we would have to switch rooms multiple times in order to get the balcony that was originally expected (the one with tables and chairs). Again being the main reason we chose this hotel, I am highly disappointed. Walking around town yesterday there are other hotels I would have chosen instead of this one. The room itself is nice, clean, and comfortable but lacks some amenities (refrigerator). Location is in walking distance to many shops and restaurants which is nice as well. read more

We drove thru town not knowing what to expect. There are a ton of B & B's and we were trying to decide, not knowing of or considering a boutique hotel. We drove past it and looked it up. It was super reasonable, under $150 after taxes. We got the room right next to the elevator on the second floor and we thought for sure it was going to be a bad pick. To our surprise the other guests were very quiet and respectful. The bed was extremely comfortable. In fact, we are early risers usually 3:30 am and we slept until about 7 here. It is a real nice place. We stayed a Wednesday night the week between xmas and New Years. Ate at hurricanes also very good. We would recommend this hotel to everyone. read more

A very good friend of ours recommended that we only stay in a hotel in town that is owned by The Kennebunkport Resort Collection. We are talking top of the line linen and bathrooms and beds. I wish The Kennebunkport Resort Collection would open hotels in every city we vacation In. They have the best taste in finishes and hospitality for sure. I look Forward to checking out some of the other properties they own in Maine on our next visit. I would say our next hotel stay will be at Hidden Pond. We really enjoyed our time here. Rooms are very clean, and the bathrooms are very nice, though no tub. Heated floors would definitely be a plus in winter! The front desk staff was super friendly and helpful, and they have toiletries if you forgot anything, even things like sunscreen, included in the price of your room. There's a Keurig in each room with plenty of K-cups and bottled water. They even gave us a bag with two muffins and two little bottles of orange juice each morning, and a little bag with cookies for the ride home. It's really close to everything downtown, and you can pretty much walk to everything there. The beach is about a mile away, though the tide comes up pretty close to the road when it's in. I wish this place had a bike rack where we could have left our bikes overnight, but that's really my only complaint. read more

They have bicycles but we were a party of 4 and couldn't take advantage. You are in walking distance of restaurants and shops. If you want to go to the beach front desk will loan you towels. My husband and I stayed here for a few nights in June. The rates were reasonable for the time and area. The room was lovely. Spacious, modern, clean and quiet despite being located on a main street. The location was excellent and the staff was very kind. I liked that the room offered lots of information about area restaurants and attractions. We were originally planning on two nights in the queen size room and when I called to add a third the queen wasn't available for the additional night. They upgraded our stay to the king room and charged the original queen prices for the first two nights. Very clean hotel with a new feel and a great front desk staff. Loved the fact that the network of hotels had bicycles, pools, and a dinner shuttle that we could use - but they were mostly impractical and difficult to take advantage of (as the dinner shuttle only ran until 10:00). We did use the bikes one day which had to be picked up down the block at the One Dock Inn and we loved our ride to the beach. We stayed for three nights and our room was not cleaned one of the days and the lotion I used on the first day was never replaced. We were in and out but were certainly out of the room for long enough to make the bed and refresh the towels. The room was nice and had many tv stations and a small balcony (where you couldn't fit a chair or sit outside) but had no refrigerator. The bathroom was nice, especially with the heated floors, but I wish it had a bathtub for some relaxation. One night we tried to make our own drinks but there was no ice available in the hotel and we didn't want to call the staff number to ask for it at that hour. This hotel is in a GREAT location but next time we will probably try the hotel next door, as we felt the rooms weren't worth the higher price. read more

Just returned from a 2 night stay at the Grand Hotel. A great find! The staff was friendly and addressed our needs in a timely manner. The rooms were well appointed and very clean. I would definitely recommend this hotel and return for another stay. All that being said, I just have one question, and this is just not true of this hotel. Why do hotels insist on putting only one comfortable chair in their guest rooms. My husband and I had to take turns sitting and relaxing. read more
