Well, yeah, a chain hotel, and not Hilton's top-of-the-line lodging. But we continue to have good experiences here and think this is a good choice for a staying this area (it's in Kennebunk and is cheaper than the resorts closer to Kennebunkport). There are lots of things we appreciate: clean, fresh-smelling rooms, good AC, good blackout curtains, and good water pressure in the shower. But there's more: a very friendly front desk staff who prepare chocolate chip cookies every afternoon, a free hot breakfast, pleasant-enough pool (heated just barely by our standards) and a good fitness room. There are a few things that didn't quite match up for us: the hot breakfast is a bit hit-or-miss depending on your preferences; there are very few places to eat close by; and a trip to Kennebunkport can take 15 minutes with moderate traffic. Bottom line: we like Hampton Inns, and this seems a good one, the positives definitely outweighing the negatives, and it's fairly priced for this area during the summer months. read more

This hotel is your typical Hampton Inn. Some amenities are better than others. Check in. 3 stars. I asked for a room on the main floor when I made my reservation. Check in was 4 pm. It was almost 3:30. They said that room was not ready yet. I asked would it be ready by 4. No guarantees. Ok. Only other room ready was on the 3rd floor. Ok. I'll take that one. I paid my room by points, made a reservation by credit card and still insisted they swipe my card for $50 of incidentals. bTW, I never have incidentals. Room. 4 stars. Large plenty of extra space. Comfortable extra chaise in addition to the desk chair. Dumb position of microwave (could not read the small numbers) under the TV and the coffee machine on a pullout shelf at floor level. Ridiculous. Nice spacious bathroom with walk in shower. Thermostat allowed you to adjust for heat or cool and it worked well. Breakfast 2 stars. Canned hash and powdered scrambled eggs. Waffle iron coated with stuck on waffle. Coffee is tepid. (As is the all day lobby coffee and "hot" water). Hotel environment 4 stars. Common areas were clean. Computer for business, extensive commissary, gym and pool all available. Parking was plentiful on our stay. Not many places to replenish supplies or get a quick meal within 1/4 mile except a convenience store next door charging almost 10% higher for gas than on the Maine Turnpike. read more

I had visited the Hampton Inn with my family for my wife and father-in-law's half marathon in Wells Maine. We were pleasantly surprised with the hospitality here and the amazing service and cheerfulness of the staff. Here is the summary of our 2 day stay at the Hampton Inn. My only regret is that I should have taken more pictures 1) Ambiance 5/5: The place is well maintained with a gym and pool and great rooms. The decor is great and the place looks immaculate. Its also close to some amazing beaches. 2) Service 6/5: I have been to many places in the USA and many other Hamptons as well but this has by far been my best experience mainly due to the amazing staff. Everyone is amazing but 2 people stand out - 'Sag' as she is popularly called - has been the most amazing and happiest person in the hotel that I have ever met. Watch out early morning at breakfast and catch her amazing singing. Along with her, the gentleman who works at the front desk at Night - whose name I am missing, was an amazing help! 3) Food 5/5: The place has one of the most amazing breakfast spreads. Along with this, they even had unlimited cookies available at night for anyone with a late-night sweet craving. There are many things for both vegetarians and non-vegetarians equally. Keep an eye for freshly made scones and pastries at around 8 AM - 8.30 AM 4) Value for Money 5/5: Some people might say this place is costly but for the breakfast buffet, helpful and delightful staff and unlimited cookies, this is a steal :) 5) Amenities: a) Great gym and pool d) Free parking e) Great rooms f) Delightful staff PS: My actual rating is 6/5 for an unforgettable experience. I regret not snapping photos while here, but still felt compelled to leave a review. I travel a lot. I've stayed at plenty of large chain hotels, including Hampton Inn. I am telling you this location is among the most spotless of facilities and they offer many more small details that stand out to me. For instance, if you are unable to get to breakfast due to an early check out, they've got a basket holding grab and go brown bags filled with a muffin, piece of fresh fruit, and a bottled water. The breakfast buffet was laid out beautifully and well organized. I was impressed! Jimmy was working the front desk--super friendly, funny, and always offering coffee/tea or fresh fruit! Beautiful hotel only 30 minutes from Portland, so if you want to stay near Portland without dealing with the Portland madness, this one is for you. I stayed here a for a week for a trip to Maine, and generally have good things to say about it. Pros -Free parking. Enough said. -Close by the highway, but not too close where you hear it all the time. -Tasty breakfast, and it is complementary. -Rooms are laid out nicely, and are clean. -Extremely nice front desk personnel. Especially Lydia. She never skipped a beat when it came to making my stay a good one. -Indoor pool with hot tub. -Beds are comfortable. -Pillows are not lumpy. -Bathroom shower has great water pressure. Cons -The sliding glass door to the shower kept propping open. -Sinks are a tad awkward. -Elevators are a bit weird to use. -Hard to find a nearby restaurant. The cons are fairly minimal and should not detract you from looking to stay here for a few days. I would stay here again. read more

I'll start the review by saying I'm a Marriott Lifetime Platnum and an occasional Hilton guest. I was taking my son to visit UNE and this was one of the closest hotels to the area. Of all the Hilton brands, Hampton Inn is probably the one I have mostly stayed at because they generally are a great value. For me, a sweet spot between a Courtyard and a Fairfield Inn. The room was I thought quite nicely decorated and furnished. Certainly a little more upscale than I was expecting from a Hampton Inn. The size was good, the room was in excellent condition. Only two flaws during our visit, a hair on the bed that wasn't from us, and the coffee in the evening tasted old, and the cream was spoiled. I don't necessarily expect fresh coffee in the evening, but do expect the cream isn't spoiled. I personally didn't find the bed that comfortable, but I think it was more me sleeping away from home than the bed itself. It was the first time I have stayed at a hotel since COVID where the breakfast had returned to normal. They had all the standard Hampton fare, eggs, bacon, potatoes, oatmeal, waffle makers, toast, bagels, coffee, juice, etc. I found the food as expected, not great, but could definitely find stuff that tasted good enough to justify the trip downstairs. Coffee was fresh/hot, and the two women working the breakfast did their best to keep things filled and fresh. They did have a bag breakfast that my wife took since she didn't want to eat with others. There was a little gas station/market right next to the hotel, and some restaurants on Rt 1 that were within 10 minutes from the hotel. Even though it's right off the Turnpike, it does feel like a pretty quiet/isolated spot. It was a good place to spend a night or two, but not a place I'd want to spend a week. It seems to definitely cater to local business travels and people making short visits to the area. I would definitely stay here again and would strongly recommend it to anyone traveling to the area. read more

I'm a fan of the Hampton inn. As far as everyday hotels go, I'm a big fan of Hilton's Hampton line. It's nice, clean and consistent. Our family got three rooms on "opening night" which is exciting. Not planned at all! We're on our way through and just got dinner at the nearby Maine Diner. I'm pooped so am looking forward to catching some zzz's. Anyway, this hotel is everything I expected AND AN INDOOR POOL! The bathrooms are also nice and modern. Lots of glass and tile instead of a tired small tub with a questionable shower head. The beds are super comfy and extra tall, "princess style", with a decorative lace duvet. Also the fresh cookies on arrival is a nice touch. Well done Hampton Crew! read more

From the minute we walked in, the staff was so friendly! Room was clean and comfortable with minimal noise despite being fully booked. This morning, breakfast was a real treat, with waffles (my fave) and a great assortment of offerings! This hotel is rated 1-star because of the horrible customer service received at this location. I stayed at this Hampton Inn for a local event and booked through Hotels.com. Prior to checking in, I called (twice, actually) to speak with the woman at the front desk to confirm that our 2-hour early check-in for our 2 queen bed room would be all set. She told me that she was 99.9% sure that it would work. Fast forward 2 days later. I arrive for my 2-hour early check in, and there is one front desk agent, who tells me that my room is not available yet. After waiting for nearly 1 hour in the lobby, I got the key to my room (YAY!). But, wait for it... The room only had 1 king bed. Aka, not what I paid for. I went to the front desk, and explained that this would not work for three adults. The woman at the front desk was not apologetic at all and told me that there was nothing she could do because I booked through a third-party (and paid over $300 bucks, mind you.) It took 30 minutes to get me the new card to my room. I was NOT impressed. Yes, this hotel is new and in great shape. However, the customer service was horrible. Not apologetic -- and abrasive at the front desk. Fortunately for me, there was a gentleman waiting next to me whose room ALSO got messed up. He heard the tone that the check-in woman took with me and offered the room of his (that they messed up) to me. It was a king bed with a pull out sofa, but hey, better than 3 adults in a king bed. The woman at the front desk told me to check-back in with her at check-out for some sort of refund, ensuring they would make it up to me. Great! Fast forward to check-out. I asked the front desk woman what refund I would be entitled to. She told me that I would not be receiving any refund and that I was misinformed by her coworker. I then called Hotels.com and explained my situation. They were on the phone with Hampton Inn and told me that the Hampton Inn refused to issue any sort of refund for this issue (even though there was a price difference in what I paid for and what I got.) I would recommend staying away from this hotel. Yes, it is new and clean. However - not impressed with the staff or customer service, ESPECIALLY given the price. Stay somewhere else. read more

Worst Hampton I have ever stayed in. Location: Godd. right off the highway and easy to find. Lobby: Good. clean and decent. Every Hampton hands out cookies around evening. Then the TV is on the left side of the bed???MM I have been to a hand full of Hampton Inn, including the one in North Conway; I have never ...ever seen a TV set on the left side of the bed. Perhaps the room is designed for left side sleepers. AC is noisy...loud. Bed is too soft and pillows are very uncomfortable. Conclusion: This place is a one time too many. Ok so this hotel was a pleasant stay for a little while but I will not go back. My wife and I were staying at this hotel for our Babymoon and one day when we came back in the hotel from picking up my nephew we were told that we were smoking in our room and threatened that if it happens again we will be kicked out and charged for our stay (we used points for our room). Here is the kicker, my wife is pregnant and I don't smoke....I tried to tell the front desk that it's impossible because we don't smoke, but she wouldn't hear it. I give this hotel 5 stars because everything about my stay was excellent. I was greeted immediately and got my room key quickly. The elevators are fast, felt new and were clean. The room was immaculate. I had a king room and it was so accommodating with a desk, comfy desk chair, lounger, and a large square ottoman/suitcase stand type piece of furniture, as well as the luggage stand in the closet. The shower was the roomiest I've enjoyed and the bathroom itself has quality fixtures. Of course, Hampton Inn is known for the bed. This was comfortable and soft. Pillows and blankets all clean and fresh. There was a queen size cotton blanket I pulled out of the closet. Great for the lounger and I put it on top of the comforter at night because I like it cold. Temperature was easily adjustable by thermostat. I appreciated the little coffee maker, microwave and fridge. When I asked the maid for an extra coffee pack she gave me two. Very friendly staff. They are happy and talkative and get along well with guests as well as each other. I would definitely stay here again. read more

Can't say enough good things about this hotel! All staff that we came into contact with were super nice and helpful. Always smiling. The added touch of pool towels placed around the pool area really made it that more inviting. The indoor heated pool is kept at 90 degrees. The breakfast included pastries, cereal, eggs, bacon, hash browns, sausage, and even a waffle making station! They even put out warm cookies during the day!
