The Harbor Inn in Kennebunkport is hands-down our new favorite bed and breakfast. The owner, Mike,…read moreclearly understands hospitality on another level--he remembers the name of every single guest and you can tell he truly cares about the happiness of all guests during their stay. He gives a thorough overview of the inn when you arrive and always has great recommendations. I genuinely don't know if he sleeps at night because he's there to make you breakfast before 8:30am and is around at 10pm keeping the tea kettle hot for you. The rooms are beautifully appointed and comfortable, and the daily breakfast is generous and delicious. We also loved the thoughtful extras: a cozy tea bar, complimentary bikes, beach towels, and even Tommy Bahama chairs for the beach. Those little touches made our trip so much easier and more enjoyable. Location is great--close to a small beach and also the town. There are several restaurants even closer you can walk to as well. If you're looking for a place in Kennebunkport that truly goes above and beyond, the Harbor Inn is it.

The inn has lots of large but cozy rooms open to the guests. Just a lovely place. My only little complaint was the pillows. But pillows are a tough one to get right.

Plus, it was a bit noisy at 7am -I could hear the people on the floor above me using the bathroom and creaking floors when they walked; I could also hear them putting out breakfast in the sunroom below with the clanging of the dishes and the doors closing. If you prefer to stay at a bed-and-breakfast, then this might be a good place for you. The house was nicely furnished; my Junior suite was clean and fairly comfortable (although for some odd reason, the furniture was unusually low to the ground), and it was interesting from a historical perspective. It just really wasn't my style. One last FYI if you decide to stay there - there's no yard or street signage at any of the houses except the Nathaniel Lord Mansion - I drove around in circles looking for the Jefferds house.....

We booked the Berwick Room which was on the first floor. It is a small and perfect room for 2 with a 4-poster high bed and of course, a step-stool! Extremely clean and comfortable with multiple pillow offerings and quality bedding. The bathroom was well-equipped with a walk-in shower. If you're an early riser and love coffee or tea, there is a Keurig in the dining area. For breakfast, we walked to the dining area just before 9 a.m. to beautifully set tables and piano music playing in the background. Colorful paintings grace the walls and many windows overlooking the well-maintained grounds. Right away, you'll know that quality ingredients are used in preparing your breakfast such as fresh juices, fruits, warm baked goods, tasty syrups and quality sausage or bacon. It's a 3-course breakfast! It is within walking distance to the many stores in Kennebunkport. If you choose to just sit and relax on the premises, you'll see at the entrance of the house, a large basket full of blankets for your comfort should you want to sit outside on their porch and there may be a chill in the air. They have a small gift shop just off the dining area that offers many items you may like to bring to your room. Just sign the sheet and it'll be added to your check-out. Julianna and Lars greet you with smiles and you'll feel their warm welcome. We are so pleased we chose the 1802 House for our getaway and you better believe, we will be back!

I am very curious at the type of training they get but they are FANTASTIC. Our waiter Tristan was great, very patient, went over to explain every dish and how it was prepared. Coffee and tea was served within 2 minutes, followed by complimentary dishes from the kitchen. We ordered three dishes: skillet breakfast, fluffy pancakes and lobster with polenta (sorry, forgot the exact name). OMG. Those pancakes were definitely fluffy and the chef didn't skimp on chocolate chips. The skillet breakfast was savory, nutritious, side salad was a nice touch. My husband loved his polenta with lobsters, he was in the carboloading mood that day. I believe the rooms at the inn are great too; I heard other visitors commenting how much they were enjoying their stay. We would love to come back as guests next time.

She was full of recommendations (i.e. Goose Rocks Beach) and was friendly and kind without being overbearing. We showed up a bit late and the key was left in a coded lock box for us. The room was compact, but fine for my husband and I for our 2 night stay. We knew beforehand that breakfast would be boxed for us and that was fine. I was happy that they provided yogurt was Chobani and actually had some protein in it (unlike most continental breakfasts that are a carb party). We rented bikes and kayaks during our stay. It was great that they had these for us to utilize. The bikes should be covered during storage, however. They were a bit rusty. This was the priciest place that we stayed during our 7 night trip, but I wouldn't consider it the best. After our stay, I do feel that our stay should not have cost us so much.
