We LOVED our stay here at the Nautilus! My boyfriend grew up going to Ocean Park and every summer…read morefor about 15 years. We wanted to take a trip and stay near the beach. We were literally on the beach. The house was built in the 1890s and it is beautiful! It does have updates to it since then but you don't lose a bit of the charm. We stayed in the old inn keepers room on the main floor, and it had its own bathroom. Our room had a window AC unit and it's own mini fridge as well as a ceiling fan. I do think it needs more outlets but we just used one in the bathroom. They provide you with bath towels, fresh beach towels everyday, washcloths, face towels and bath mats. Resa is the manager their and was absolutely wonderful. She cooked delicious breakfasts and is available if you need anything. One day we had avocado toast, scrambled eggs, fresh baked blueberry buckle, blueberry corn muffins, and chocolate oatmeal protein cookies. Various breads, bagels, and English muffins are available as well as butter, peanut butter, and jelly. There is always coffee, tea, and water and ice on hand. In addition to breakfast the house has a whole closet FULL of board games and activities to play if you find yourself inside for an afternoon storm. There is plenty of common areas to hang out and do a puzzle or play a game. The house also has plenty of beach items for you to use including beach chairs, umbrellas, footballs, volleyballs, sand toys, bikes, helmets, and various other things. You do need to park on the street, but there was ample parking and you don't really have to move your car that often because there is so much within walking distance. Overall I couldn't speak highly enough about our stay. Consider us new regulars.

So glad we did! We stayed in room #12 with a king size bed with plenty of cozy layers to keep us warm during the chilly early September nights. The whole house was beautifully clean, warm and welcoming. It's literally a stones throw from the beach and where we all sit once we are there, so we got out of walking the mile back to the other house our friends rent. Also, the breakfast served in the morning was delicious! Homemade bread, mini egg and ham burritos and plenty of coffee, tea and OJ. I was in heaven! Not to mention, the sub shop is across the street, so anything you need is within arms reach. We will most definitely be back again next year! Even though our room had a great view of the beach, we might try for a different room just to see what they're all like. Very happy with our stay! Resa, who was the lady in charge when we were there, is super nice!

It isn't super close to Old Port, but it's about a 20-25 minute walk, even faster if you have a car or bike. Our host, David, was so gracious and kind. He gave us all kinds of tips on where to eat, what to see, and which neighborhoods to check out. And the breakfast options. Holy moly. These are some of the things David made: lobster souffle; turkey bacon, egg, and cheese breakfast puff pastry; raspberry custard; pancakes with wild blueberry compote; lobster home fries. Honestly, some of our best meals in Portland were eaten right in this very B&B. He even puts snacks in the second floor lounge area (there's also tea and chips) every day, and on an especially hot day he put out a pitcher of pink lemonade. It seems like almost all the cooking and cleaning is done by him. I'm not sure how he manages it and yet everything is flawless, but there you go. Reserve your room early because it was booked solid the whole time we were there. Totally worth it.

The bed was very comfortable with an assortment of different pillow types. I brought mine but left them in the car and my knees said nevermind then. By all signs they have a firm hold on the art and difficalities associated with this line of work. Our unexpected room, the "Honeymoon" suite, provided us with a slight chuckle given we are in our Thirty-First Honeymoon Season and still counting. The room open, airy, and comfort. Featuring with 5 large bay windows overlooking the main street and down toward Old Orchard Beach. Our 31st Honeymoon included a private bathroom, two upholstered chairs, an arm chair and a "fainting chaise" (my favorite), and an oak desk for my nerdy internet access. There are two guest houses, the Main Inn and Adjacent Cottage. Both quaint and appear built by craftsmen of the early 1900's. Beautiful oak floors and stairs with the most interesting mid-stair nook with oval stained glass. Outside: Away from the hustle and bustle of the Beach, but close enough to walk down to. On premise are groupings of Adirondack chairs, a shaded gazebo, a modern heated in-ground pool, and my favorite the wide wrap-around porch with french doors to the dining room. Make sure you pay a visit to their vintage hand-crafted duel rocking chair and center table; very relaxing. Breakfast: Served continental family style with a personal touch; such as, homemade baked goods, and stovetop specialties. On our first morning: Tea, delicious Coffee, muffins, fresh fruit salad, DIY toast, yogurt, and the most delicious scrambled egg platter with sausage and vegetables including sweet potato. "Chef" Nancy said she cooks gluten free for herself and is always willing to accommodate dietary needs. Our second morning, Stuffed French Toast topped with fresh fruit and a side of crispy bacon. Many thanks for a great get away!

The Nancy and Megan are lovely ladies who take a lot of pride in the care of their home and guests. The home was originally built in 1902 and the charm remains untouched! The location is perfect, short walking distance to the main street and the beach, and Nancy was able to recommend local restaurants worth checking out. The rooms & bathrooms were tidy and well kept, and both pool and bath towels were provided for us during our stay! Finally, she prepared a DELICIOUS breakfast in the morning and even brought it out to us as we sat on the porch. Next time we're in Maine we're staying here again.

We stayed in the Brook Bridge room and would gladly do so again. The room is gorgeous and spacious, with an entryway with a desk and a door to the garden area, followed by the bedroom and bath. The bed was a king size and the mattress very comfortable. The bath had plenty of hot water. Though we brought our own toiletries, they had the usual things in the room (shampoo, conditioner, soap, cotton puffs, Q-tips), plus bath salt. There is a Keurig coffee maker in the room with supplies for coffee. If you want something special, bring some K-cups along. The owner is congenial and makes you feel right at home...a real hostess. There are cookies and soda in the registration area, plus a microwave, a shared (among all the guests) mini fridge, and an electric kettle and teas. I brought some packets of hot chocolate and made it there in the morning. The breakfast is excellent. Remember, it's a bed and breakfast, so the owner is making the same breakfast for everyone, save food-isms. We had a breakfast sandwich the first morning (poached eggs, cheese (Gouda, I believe, but I could be wrong), spinach leaves, tomato, roasted English muffins...served with fresh fruit and grilled pineapple. The fresh fruit was originally supposed to include something I was allergic to, so the owner left out that ingredient for everyone to avoid cross-contamination. The second morning was French toast with poached pears and fresh blueberries. She doesn't put milk out, since most people don't drink it for breakfast these days, but ask if you want it. She'll pour you a glass! The first night we were there, my husband ordered up a couple of surprises: flowers in the room (they were lovely!) and a meat and cheese plate that was wonderful. There were three types of cheese, one meat, a hot pepper jelly, two types of crackers, and fresh seedless grapes. The jelly was so good, I asked for the name so I could buy some more for my husband. I also purchased a cookbook there, and it has some great recipes in it. The only negative I had about the place was that the site said there was a DVD player in the rooms, so I brought along some movies to watch with my husband in the evening. It turns out there was no DVD player, but they do have extensive cable, so we still had something to watch when we wanted to relax in the room.

But there's so much they could do to improve on things that would make this place awesome! First of all, the fact that this b&b is from the 1700's is just amazing. I totally respect antique things but there's a big difference between antique and just plain outdated old things. The pillows were awful. Flat and smelled a little funny. The bedsheets along with the matress were not impressive either. Those are the main important things for a b&b! My room was also decorated with plastic flowers all over the place...felt like I was at a grandmas house. Other than those things the breakfast was very good. I'm not sure what others are expecting but there was a good variety of yogurt, fruit, bagels, cereals, eggs and some other stuff I thought was a good layout. The location is awesome too just across the street from the pier and the beach. I will most likely not be back though cuz beds are very important to me but maybe the other rooms are better!
