This is my first B&B experience and it was terrific! Everything was very clean. The bed was queen size and comfortable. Each room has a specific style. Our's felt a little more nautical. Really yummy breakfast of eggs & bacon on a croissant. Will definitely stay again. We relaxed outside in the sun and swung on the swing in the morning before heading out.

Breakfast.. grilled and buttered challah toast with sweet hot sausage, eggs and feta, with a greens an amazing fruit side.

One of the best B&Bs I've ever been to. Amy and Matt are wonderful hosts. Affable, kind and accommodating. The rooms are immaculate. The bathrooms are immaculate. You get the sense that they both love what they do, and they manage their business like it's the most important thing in their lives, not a second choice weekend gig . They have all the accommodations that you need, from WIFI to TV, and the breakfasts are spectacular. We stayed for three nights. The place is quiet, you don't hear people making noise when they come in. We had the first floor suite and it had its own little vestibule down a half flight of stairs, and it was awesome because you couldn't hear anything. Just wait until you have the coffee! So good. We will be back for sure.

    Gluten free waffles! Lovely presentation

Recently, my sister, mother, and I stayed at Pine Crest. We each had our own rooms: Quincy, Hamilton, and Stoningham. All the rooms had private bathrooms and a generous amount of space. There's a great deal attention to detail. As the names of the rooms indicate, the house exudes charms of a different century (but with all the modern conveniences, like a Keurig in each room). The rooms are clean, clean, clean. And we all agreed, the beds were comfortable. Our group made a ritual of enjoying a glass of wine every evening in a small parlor located near the dining area. Loved the lamp light and expansive couches. Matt and Amy left us to enjoy one another's company, even though we would have enjoyed their company. They maintain a certain professional discretion, giving the place an extra attractive ambience. The inn provides privacy and sociability. It is however, BYOB. but they did provide a wine chiller! Amy and Matt were kind. They accommodated my mom's special needs. They also came up with gluten free breakfasts for me. (It was the first time I've had waffles in years). Matt took the time to create a gastronomical delight. He even said he would be happy to cook me a couple of eggs if I didn't like the waffles. They were fantastic! Also, we happened to be staying at Pine Crest when the town of Gorham held its annual Taste Walk. We went to 11 different restaurants for a taste. One place had a hot plate filled with bacon wrapped barbecued meatballs, left, unmanned in a corner as you walk through the front door. So people on the Taste Walk were all tangled in the entry of the restaurant. Very poor presentation, if you ask me. Several of the places on the Taste walk were unable to accommodate my Aunt, who uses a wheel chair (those places didn't get my vote). Then you go to Pine Crest. They served mashed potatoes in champagne glasses with 3 different toppings. Evidently the champagne cream sauce (hence the champagne glasses) was the big hit. I had the chili topping (gf). Then they offered a gin fizz drink for those of us old enough to sample. Pine Crest also had a 3 piece musical group. The atmosphere was jovial, kind of like they wanted people to enjoy themselves. And made the extra effort. I really liked the place. And, if I do travel to Maine again, I would choose Pine Crest without hesitation.

It isn't super close to Old Port, but it's about a 20-25 minute walk, even faster if you have a car or bike. Our host, David, was so gracious and kind. He gave us all kinds of tips on where to eat, what to see, and which neighborhoods to check out. And the breakfast options. Holy moly. These are some of the things David made: lobster souffle; turkey bacon, egg, and cheese breakfast puff pastry; raspberry custard; pancakes with wild blueberry compote; lobster home fries. Honestly, some of our best meals in Portland were eaten right in this very B&B. He even puts snacks in the second floor lounge area (there's also tea and chips) every day, and on an especially hot day he put out a pitcher of pink lemonade. It seems like almost all the cooking and cleaning is done by him. I'm not sure how he manages it and yet everything is flawless, but there you go. Reserve your room early because it was booked solid the whole time we were there. Totally worth it.

My mother chose this B&B for her home for a month while she tranistioned her move to Maine. All of the positive reviews had us very happy with this place, Their website advertises pet friendly and a rate of 46$ a night. We spoke several times over the phone with Tara, the brand new Inn keeper, before we arrived and were excited to arrive. When we did, she tells us they are NOT pet friendly- which is fine, whatever, we would take her one pet- a cat- and board her, but my mother's seizure alert dog was non negotiable. Tara seemed nervous, but said it was no problem we could keep both animals.- We offered to pay an additional deposit for the cat- no no it was fine. Tara demanded we pay her in cash, upfront, and said she would get us a reciept tomorrow as she was feeling ill. Okay, whatever. This was a bit of a red flag but we just drove in from Florida and after 17 hours in the car we were too tired to care. Mom went up to her room and started to get settled-- First problem- The room had no heat. None. The maitnence man had to bring her a portable. - Then the coffee maker doesnt work-- then the microwave. However, the biggest problem came two days later whern my mother stopped down for breakfast. She had her siezure alert dog with her and Tara proceeds to rip her away from her meal infront of the "actual" guests and berate my mother for bringing her dog with her. My mother tried to explain the necessity of her dog and then Tara started to demand proof of ADA certification-- which is highly illegal. When my mother wouldnt provide it, Tara screamed at her and tried to claim my 90 lb disabled mother attacked her house keeper and immediately evicted her. I come in to pick my mother up, her alert dog going nuts at he tries to calm my mother from the potential siezure this unprofessional woman put my mother into and The now claim the dog is being too "noisy" as he wimpers his alerts. The owner told us that he would only return 140 of her 400$ because of the service dog. when I told him he was in violation of ADA laws he LAUGHED in my face. We filed a police report and plan to get her money back using the power of the ADA to do so. Stay FAR AWAY from this scam of a property.
