It isn't super close to Old Port, but it's about a 20-25 minute walk, even faster if you have a car or bike. Our host, David, was so gracious and kind. He gave us all kinds of tips on where to eat, what to see, and which neighborhoods to check out. And the breakfast options. Holy moly. These are some of the things David made: lobster souffle; turkey bacon, egg, and cheese breakfast puff pastry; raspberry custard; pancakes with wild blueberry compote; lobster home fries. Honestly, some of our best meals in Portland were eaten right in this very B&B. He even puts snacks in the second floor lounge area (there's also tea and chips) every day, and on an especially hot day he put out a pitcher of pink lemonade. It seems like almost all the cooking and cleaning is done by him. I'm not sure how he manages it and yet everything is flawless, but there you go. Reserve your room early because it was booked solid the whole time we were there. Totally worth it.

The bed was very comfortable with an assortment of different pillow types. I brought mine but left them in the car and my knees said nevermind then. My Mom found this B&B and it was perfect. The inn is quaint, 10 miles away from downtown Portland, Me (2 hours from Boston, Ma) and charming. Each couple had their own room, with all it's 1780's charm, it was cool to stay in an old New England home. Donna the inn keeper is so personable, helpful and welcoming. She made us eggs to order, waffles, coffee, OJ, fruit and rhubarb pie each morning. We were all able to have breakfast together each mornning. It was affordable, a central location and brought us all togeher. I would recommend this inn to anyone and hope to go back again soon. There are 4 rooms, 3 bathrooms, a communal parlor, breakfast room, communal room for snacks, with a fridge, etc.

Hotel prices are expensive in Maine in the summer, so I searched online for more affordable options and went with Quaker Tavern B&B because the reviews looked good and the location close enough to all the key places (airport, wedding site, attractions, etc.). We all had a great time having the house to ourselves. Donna was a wonderful host and accommodated our schedules for breakfast and everything else. She was attentive but not annoying and intrusive, so it's a great option if you want a place to stay where you can feel more independent and not waited on for every little thing. The breakfasts were great! Donna sources many of the ingredients locally, and everything was fresh and delicious. We had a great time talking with her during the meal - she is such a delight. I highly recommend this place, and if I visit the Portland/Falmouth area again I will definitely return to this place.

Since the pandemic started, I've been trying to support as many family owned businesses as I can. This B&B You can make a reservation via their website, which was very easy to navigate. We arrived late and checked ourselves in as the owners had gone to bed, but our room was marked with a welcome note. Linda was very responsive over email and gave instructions on how to find our room and where to find towels and the bathroom. Although our room came with a shared bath, we were the only guests so didn't have to share. The room was warm and the bed was comfortable, and the bathroom was clean and spacious. Clean towels are in the linen closet in the bathroom. We had breakfast at 9 and were blown away by the extravagant spread Linda prepared: good coffee, juice, banana nut bread, english muffins, fresh fruit, granola and yogurt, and deviled eggs! Wow. The real stars of the show are Linda and Jim - they are so kind and friendly, and a perfect example of Maine hospitality. We traded stories with Jim and got to know them a little bit, and spent some time petting the two cats as well. We only stayed one night but we'll be back soon. You just can't get this kind of experience at a hotel or Airbnb -- I cannot recommend Fleetwood House B&B enough!

There was a note that said don't let the cat out. While we never saw the cat. I smelled cat urine and there was cat food on the porch at the front door. There was nothing in the booking about an animal running around the house and my wife is allergic to cats. In addition the room they wanted us to stay in was dirty. All the windowsills were dirty. The armoire had dirt and dust in all the corners and the bathroom shower was dirty on the bottom and up and down the sides there was grunge dirt and in the in between the glass doors and the shower and the shower walls. The pictures of the place have to be old since the condition of the property doesn't look like the pictures. Unacceptable as was the host greeting us in her bare feet. We left rather than stay-notwithstanding the monetary loss.

Upon our arrival, there was no one to greet us or direct us to our room. Instead, there was a locked front door and a note saying the entry instructions were included in an email sent sometime earlier. There was also a phone number to call if we needed help. So, standing there on the stoop, in the rain with my wife and our luggage, tired from a long day of driving, I called the number. Milan answered and repeated what the note had said about the instructions being sent via email sometime earlier. So now, still standing on the stoop, I'm scrolling through emails trying to find the one they sent me a day or two earlier. I eventually found a lengthy email with all sorts of information, most of which was irrelevant to us. I sifted through that haystack of verbage and finally found the needle containing the entry instructions and got into the place. Once in, we had to search around to find our room, eventually found it and got settled in, a little frustrated at the experience of getting there. Nevertheless, the room was nice and Milan later showed up (evidently sensing our irritation at the hoops we'd been required to jump through) and told us breakfast was served at a second inn a block away and we were welcome to join them in the morning. We passed on that. If you like the modern e-era, minimal human interaction and packaged treats from Costco, this place is for you. On the other hand, if you're looking for a little nicer experience, you'll be disappointed.

We stayed in the Brook Bridge room and would gladly do so again. The room is gorgeous and spacious, with an entryway with a desk and a door to the garden area, followed by the bedroom and bath. The bed was a king size and the mattress very comfortable. The bath had plenty of hot water. Though we brought our own toiletries, they had the usual things in the room (shampoo, conditioner, soap, cotton puffs, Q-tips), plus bath salt. There is a Keurig coffee maker in the room with supplies for coffee. If you want something special, bring some K-cups along. The owner is congenial and makes you feel right at home...a real hostess. There are cookies and soda in the registration area, plus a microwave, a shared (among all the guests) mini fridge, and an electric kettle and teas. I brought some packets of hot chocolate and made it there in the morning. The breakfast is excellent. Remember, it's a bed and breakfast, so the owner is making the same breakfast for everyone, save food-isms. We had a breakfast sandwich the first morning (poached eggs, cheese (Gouda, I believe, but I could be wrong), spinach leaves, tomato, roasted English muffins...served with fresh fruit and grilled pineapple. The fresh fruit was originally supposed to include something I was allergic to, so the owner left out that ingredient for everyone to avoid cross-contamination. The second morning was French toast with poached pears and fresh blueberries. She doesn't put milk out, since most people don't drink it for breakfast these days, but ask if you want it. She'll pour you a glass! The first night we were there, my husband ordered up a couple of surprises: flowers in the room (they were lovely!) and a meat and cheese plate that was wonderful. There were three types of cheese, one meat, a hot pepper jelly, two types of crackers, and fresh seedless grapes. The jelly was so good, I asked for the name so I could buy some more for my husband. I also purchased a cookbook there, and it has some great recipes in it. The only negative I had about the place was that the site said there was a DVD player in the rooms, so I brought along some movies to watch with my husband in the evening. It turns out there was no DVD player, but they do have extensive cable, so we still had something to watch when we wanted to relax in the room.

The self check in was a super easy process and both Tim & Jake were very welcoming. I loved their breakfast each morning, everything was local and amazing, down to their coffee! There's a water dispenser, Keurig machine (with reusable kcups!), tea and snacks avail 24/7. We stayed in room 1 which was just enough space for two. No issues with getting warm water in the shower. The only thing to note is that room 1 is right outside the communal area on the 2nd floor. We had no trouble with noise overall but if people outside the room were talking or walking by, we heard very clearly. Definitely recommend and would love to come back when it's warmer!
