When we arrived the roiled wouldn't stop running after the first use but we called the front desk and they sent someone up within 5 minutes and it got fixed. Very happy with our stay! Last time we had to walk more uphill ( away from the main area and waterfront/ shops/ restaurants) We had stayed at the nicer Marriott location last visit and it was a good 10-15 minutes away from the main section. ( while we love to all walk it wasn't super close and annoying) The parking staff was sooooo helpful and had Valet parking available and a HUGE SHOUT OUT TO KYLE who was so friendly& accommodating!!!! Thank you so much, Kyle. The Rooms are spacious- we had a few different kinds of rooms - to note: Suites -I do not know why they are situated by the elevator -Nice breakfast but be there before 9:30 am as it closes -Nice area downstairs / lobby for dining and working ( I think I saw a bar there for the evening) -Great lobby space downstairs with tables, couches, and a big open area for eating, working, relaxing, meeting up, big booths, and large tables -It was a Great location Also available: fitness center- and a guest laundry room ( however, we didn't use either ) We would come by again next trip.

There's plenty of things to do / bars / restaurants / the ocean that are very walkable. The rooms are great as is the breakfast (it gets pretty packed). Off season is the time for me. This hotel was by far the most expensive on our whole New England road trip. While it wasn't…read moreterrible there was nothing super special about it. Most of the hotels in the downtown Portland area do require you pay for parking overnight, the perk with this hotel was you could self park in the garage across the street- and then have the fee added to your bill. I personally would rather we park our own car and be able to go as we please- you can leave and come back and there is no additional charge. It is an easy walk to everything even though it is slightly less centralized but everything is closer than it seems. Front desk staff was friendly and we hung out at the bar that night after getting dinner out- shout out to Greg who was bartending, and has apparently been for many years. He was EXCELLENT. He knew some patrons who stopped at the bar and came in once a year- but had for many years, he was THAT GOOD at remembering names and faces- not to mention he made a bangin' sangria from scratch for me and perfect old fashioned for my husband. He was also super knowledgeable and friendly. We would go back just to hang out with him haha Our room was pretty big, two TVs (one was tinted purple and seemed to be dying) and the suite with separate rooms and kitchen- we didn't book anything fancy. Our view was of the interior terrace they had, and for one night that's fine. Breakfast was a typical Marriot hotel breakfast. It was good. I would stay here again, but nothing super special to rave about. Clean and comfy beds is what matters the most.

We have always had great experiences staying at Hampton Inn hotels. I was able to check in via the Hilton App and select a room. This location was great...on Fore street only about one block from the waterfront and surrounded by lots of shops and restaurants. The rooms were on the smaller side...but that is generally expected in larger/touristy cities. The rooms had comfortable beds, good water pressure, a microwave, a refrigerator and a desk/chair. There was also a large TV in the room with lots of channels. We did have an iron...but was missing an ironing board. Also, our bathroom door did NOT lock...the handle hardware seemed to be broken. They do offer free breakfast with a few hot options (such as eggs and sausages) as well as the typical continental items...breads, fruit, cereal and their signature waffle iron/maker. There is a pool and fitness center, but we did not visit either during our stay. Parking is valet-only and is $40 per night. You are given a ticket with your vehicle number and can text them when you want your car to be available. Your vehicle will be ready in a few minutes after sending the text. All the staff, including valet, we encountered were friendly, respectful and efficient.

I was in a room with two beds instead of one because that turned out to be cheaper. It was a modern and clean room. The ice machine on my floor never worked on my two night stay, which was annoying. They do have a nice free breakfast spread, with plenty of tables. Housekeeping did knock on my door while I was packing to check out. Another annoying little thing, as they should know when I have actually checked out. I would probably stay at this Hampton Inn again the next time I'm in Portland.
