    The menu for day 2

A truly lovely place, friendly owners and delicious food. We stayed July 4th weekend for 2 nights. Mark and Nancy were super friendly and made sure we felt right at home immediately. The room was small but well appointed and clean. They offer a small refrigerator with cold water and allow you to keep small items in there. Ice, tea, fresh cookies and some candy are lovely amenities you don't find everywhere. Mark made sure we got to know a little bit about the other guests so we would feel more comfortable talking to each other. Mark's wickedly droll humor had us all laughing. Nancy made sure to accommodate my dietary requirements (gluten free) and everything was fresh and tasty. We will definitely go back some day so we can visit Frank. When you visit ask Mark about the picture of Queen Elizabeth in the dining room.

I stayed here last weekend with my girlfriend and I have to say it was a very pleasant first experience with a bed and breakfast. The owners Mark and Nancy are very nice people who were welcoming from the moment we checked in. Nancy does all the cooking in the mornings and her breakfasts are amazing I never had any "leftovers". Mark is always ready with some fresh made coffee in the mornings at 7am and is always upbeat and friendly sparking some good conversation and really providing helpful details on the town and sites to see. The rooms are clean with private bathrooms and the wifi is very fast (allowed us to watch the last episode of season 7 game of thrones !). The house is very close to town (5min walk) and Mark does a good job of providing good recommendations of restaurants or nearby stores to check out. When we needed some extra ice for our cooler he was happy to provide us some. Overall, very nice people and top notch experience I will definitely be recommending the Kendall Tavern Inn to my family and friends.

The place has apparently gone through a couple ownership changes since our last visit. The vibe is still good and we enjoyed our visit, but a little of the shine we used to enjoy has diminished. The Broad Arrow Tavern, long one of our favorite places to eat, is no longer there and a sign hangs on the door advertising meeting space available. The front desk staff were polite and efficient, but not particularly warm or welcoming. Afternoon tea is still served, but the offerings aren't as robust as they once were. You have to request in advance fresh towels and room cleaning, which isn't a big deal if you know that (returning after a day out to a messy room with damp morning towels still on the floor is a disappointment). Still, we had a good visit and enjoyed our stay.

So that is four. That leaves a pull out sofa in the main room. AND there is only ONE BATHROOM. The main bedroom bed did not have a frame. In fact, none of the beds had bed frames and there is no art on any of the walls, so the pictures on the website are not accurate. The closet door was completely missing in one bedroom. There was a nasty red stain on the carpet in the big bedroom. There was a broken tie rack in one closet. The kitchen looks like it was last renovated in the late 1980s. The rear entrance does not lock securely, the back door has a note on it on how to lift the handle to get the bolt to lock. The kitchen had a table with only two chairs. So you and your guests will not be eating together. There were three other mismatched chairs scattered around the unit, and none of those were the right height for the kitchen table. In the living room there was a dehumidifier grinding along. There seems to be a drainage issue with the whole complex. The front window by the front door was missing a curtain. Another curtain wasn't hung properly. Neither television worked properly, as the internet connection kept glitching. There was a scarred desk in the living room. The showerhead in the one bathroom needs to be replaced. I did not find this townhouse adequate for adults. I give three stars because of the building and grounds, very pretty, and within walking distance to downtown.

WEBSITE & BOOKING A ROOM: - Mapped out website to understand more about the inn & policies. - Easy to navigate, view room availability & select desired room. - Wonderful photos of each room with sq. ftg. noted. - Lots of information of what's around / things to do in the area. INNKEEPERS: - The level of communication is great. I had sent an email with additional questions & was answered timely. They also use a method of texting as well as leave their phone #'s. - We paid for a 12pm check-in & Dave greeted us. He gave a tour & a mini history lesson about the building, which was so interesting! - Kelleigh waited on us for breakfast & was delightful. She'd engage in quick conversation & swiftly served us each course. THE ROOM (#4 - PERMQUID POINT LIGHTHOUSE): - Super clean, cozy & romantic. - The queen bed was comfortable with many layers of sheets, a down comforter & quilt-like blanket on top. - The (2) chairs by the window served as a nice area for me & my husband to enjoy a beer from the "Big Brewstah" keg & chat. - There are robes with slippers which make the stay all the more comfortable. - The thermostat is programmed, but it's allowed to change the temperature. - There isn't a mini fridge in the room (not sure if there are in the other rooms). 3-COURSE BREAKFAST: - Served ONLY between 8am to 9am (as long as you arrive in that hour). They do ask if there are any dietary restrictions prior. - As previously mentioned, Kelleigh was our server & hostess. - The hot coffee is French pressed & packed with flavor. - Dave has some serious cooking skills & we appreciated the use of locally sourced, fresh ingredients. - It was a very filling & delicious menu that Dave creates uniquely for each morning. ADDITIONAL NOTES & TIPS: - The parking is a bit tight; there are (3) spots at the front of the inn or the overflow is at the end of the driveway. - Each room has a key & a deadbolt (which can only be locked from the inside). - Downstairs area, neighboring the dining room, there is a living room area with shelves of books & a few games. - The busy season for the Brewster House B&B is around the 4th of July.
