Recently stayed at the Candlebay Inn and had a great time. Brought my Jack Russell Terrier and stayed in the Daisy Room. Just enough room, very neat and clean with a lot of light and sunshine. Inn had a nice homey feel. Connie was super nice and very accommodating. Breakfast was very good especially the apple french toast with sausage. Inn walking distance to restaurants and shops which was great. It's definitely a place worth checking out. You won't be disappointed.

An absolutely amazing experience @ Candlebay Inn. Super good breakfast on top of all the other perks (rooms, location, etc.).

I was getting something from the car and Connie even walked out to make sure we were staying for breakfast.

Once we found Bayview Cabins, we were hooked! Our family continues to grow, so we each get a cabin. We ALL look forward to our vacation here every year. The owners Steve & Sherri make us all feel so comfortable, genuinely sweet people who work hard at keeping the place up. This summer my mother & I decided to take my 90yr old grandmother, who is wheelchair bound, away for a mini- vacation. From the moment we arrived, I was blown away at how handicap accessible Steve & Sherri had made our cabin (12 A&B). Steve came right outside, got wheelchair chair ramps for us, had already put up handicap handles in the shower and on the toilet. Each cabin I've been in, is always so clean. So neat. They have cute signs up that make them feel "homey". And my Gram especially liked the hanging plant in front of our cabin. Me & my entire family HIGHLY recommend this getaway!!!

This place was SOO convenient to everything around, several restaurants, shops and bars are in walking distance. The dock area is really nice and everyone seemed laid back, although there were kids running around, they didn't bother us. They provided a paddle boat, a row boat, a canoe and several tubes for us, which was really nice. The main building has an ice machine and free coffee. Only briefly interacted with the owner Steve, but everything went smoothly. The house itself was perfect for the two of us, the bed was comfy and the AC was strong enough.

We chose to sit in the living room where the records were playing out of. And the cocktail menu was unique and amazing. We took in the room and the vibe. It was lovely. The Munch paintings on the wall. The books casually laid about that were epic flip throughs. Then the tastings. We moved back up our assigned table and we were served like 10 different tastings. It started with oysters, then vegetables, a fish pairing, more vegetables from their garden, and another meat and three deserts! Now without getting into specifics it was full of local flavors so exquisitely combined. We didn't even do the alcohol pairings, but the food stood alone. It was fabulous. The chef did an amazing job. If you get a chance, the service, the environment, the drink, and the food was amazing. Highly recommend!!!

And don't tell anyone (no shade to the other inn which was also beautiful), but I lucked out! I live in LA, so Maine in itself is like another planet to me, but the Waterford Inne was like a magical escape into a world of relaxation, complete with an enchanting orchestra of bullfrogs, owls, chickens. I even got to experience a thunderstorm! (That right there is worth five stars from Ms. It Never Rains in California!) My mom was an antique collector, and right away I knew she would have approved of the gorgeous antique rugs, furniture, and wall hangings. The bed in my adorable room was super comfy and the delicious farm fresh breakfasts (The eggs came from the cluck section of the enchanting orchestra I mentioned earlier.) were served in the spectacular barn of wood walls and giant beams that was somehow huge and cozy at the same time. If I didn't have a retreat to go to, I could have sat in there all day. My lovely hosts Kember, Jack, and Sam took great care of me. I highly recommend going to this charming inne before everyone discovers it and it's always booked. I'm attaching pics and yes, that frittata (with asparagus and herbs from the garden) is as good as it looks! BRAVO!

Ok so this was a unforgettable experience. Let's start with this, the pics in the reservation part…read moreof his website are all the same . Just one unit. The cars that are parked in the pics are his to make it look busy. So we rented a unit for 4-5 days and was one of the worst places I've ever seen. First we showed up and the owner Mike was upset that we were 1 hour early. Not bad considering no one has been there in days . Next, his 2 person cleaning crew had quit over a dispute with money owed to them. I don't blame them at all. We lost electricity for 7 hrs during one of the days and Mike would not talk to us directly, he lied to us numerous times about a car accident that never happened. I called the town ELEC company and there were no reports of any at all. Then he told his two man crew who did come back to work to tell us they would have itnon any minute. 4 hrs later we were ready to leave this dump. So finally when the lights came on he told his people to lie to us yet again and say they shit the wrong property off . What a joke this was. All the dishes and silverware was disgustingly dirty and sticky . I spent my vacation skimming the pool because the owner was getting drunk and losing control over the rest of the property . Don't let them fool you, there is NO useable playground and the rotted wood that is below the slide has holes in it and the sand had dog and cat crap in it . There is no arcade like his advertising says . Just disgusted . But took a thousand pics to show all the code violations and to have for proof. My 11 year old was in the pool and discovered a Cut ELEC wire sticking out of the water being held by a Brick . But of course he was too busy sitting in his bedroom (drinking and drugging as we were told he does everyday and night by all the neighbors ) to ask about this wires . When he finally came to our door 3 days after arrival he was hammered and slurring all his speech. I have proof of everything I'm saying since I took video and pics of this crap hole . Do your family a favor and go somewhere else . Then this guy says he remembers us from last year which is a riot since we've NEVER even heard of this place but he claims he remembers us very well. I wouldn't let him pay us to come back Stay away !!!!

Great place to winter. All expenses paid and affordable. Clean and welcomes pets.read more

In retrospect, I would have missed a treat had we not stayed at the Brewster House Bed & Breakfast on Main Street in Freeport, Maine. Owned and run by Kelleigh and Dave, the latter is a trained chef, and the former is a consummate professional in caring for their customers. We also had the pleasure of meeting one of their children and heard a couple of hilarious stories about some oil changing mishaps. Turns out, the breakfast part of the B&B is my element. Instead of one long table, which some B&Bs provide, Brewster House offers smaller tables for two or in our case, tables together to accommodate three guests. We were all seated in one room, a dark blue-walled space with white antique dishes and a moose head as decoration, close enough to talk, yet separated enough to have private conversations. All of us guests chatted and laughed and shared stories as Kelleigh deftly served and described each day's three courses. Dave occasionally looked out, but seemingly a bit shy for compliments stayed in his kingdom of that wonderful kitchen. Here's to Dave who shared some of his culinary acumen in the forms of shirred eggs with fresh greens, firm peaches donned with whipped topping, blueberry-kissed French toast, and so very moist waffles with dreamy homemade syrup. The bath towels were of good, heavy quality, which is important to me and the lotions and soap with little images of a Maine village were nice touches. Being from Florida, we weren't certain if we were dreaming at night when air conditioning was not needed. The property is several decades old and one can hear that when ascending and descending stairs, but they were sturdy so that's all that really matters. I sat on the multi-colored rockers on the porch at the side a time or two and absorbed the peace that I felt at Brewster House. I may never visit Maine again, but Brewster House Bed & Breakfast is etched into my memory as one of my favorite things about my first visit to Freeport, Portland and surrounding quaint towns in Maine. If you ever plan on visiting the area, give this historic location a try.
