Nachos

Anniversary dinner out East at a place I really used to underestimate. But ever since a brunch I had here long ago, I knew I was wrong about this place. Since then, we have come here for holidays and special(ish) occasions. This time around it was our anniversary. Painters was taking part in restaurant week and I knew we would get the most bang for our buck here. The portions are usually ginormous. Restaurant week is always so fun. You get a chance to try places you wouldn't normally try without breaking the bank. Dinner was $46 a person and it was 3 courses. I got the autumn frisée salad to start and the chicken roulade for my main. The salad was fire! The champagne vinaigrette was on point. My server recommended the right thing for my next course because I almost went with the filet mignon AND shrimp. Two bites into the main event and I was starting to get full. It was super delicious though and I would totally get it again. I really liked the carrot puree that was served with it. Maybe just a dash of salt but it really was top notch. My pumpkin cheesecake finished things off. They make it in house and it was light and not too sweet. I would have taken another slice home with me if I wasn't sweating from being full. The place itself is fun. With paper tablecloths and a set of crayons for each table for your inner artist. They were also decked out for Halloween and they did a fabulous job. From the scary crypt creature out front to the spider webs inside, it was fun to see.

Finally tried out painters after so many people recommended the place. We went for brunch since we were seeing an early show at the Gateway Playhouse. I now see why they're called painters, love the decor inside. So much artwork. The tables are covered with paper that you can color and they also have crayons for you. The pomegranate mule was delicious! Had to get two! My huevos rancheros were delicious! We will definitely be back for dinner soon. Loved that I didn't have to wait for a table on a late Saturday morning.

Came here for lunch on a nice weekend and had no wait for a table. Be careful when you're trying to find this place, it's a little tucked in and easy to miss! Parking lot is pretty huge and attached to the building, so you shouldn't have any issues. From the outside it looks like a small little place, but once you open the doors inside, they really have quite a good layout. We started with the cheesy garlic bread appetizer with sauce for dipping, which I've been saying is an appetizer more restaurants should do, I'd order it every time! My date got the steak sandwich and I got the breakfast burrito (a real role reversal for us!) but both were incredibly flavorful and portions were certainly generous, but if I had to pick one of the two, my favorite was that stuffed to the gills burrito! But we are talking the greater among greats here. Decor here is super cool, kind of a dive bar look and feel to it, but a sort of homieness that makes tings feel a little more cozy rather than grungy. My favorite underrated part though is that all the tables are covered in brown paper and they give you crayons so you can draw on it, so embrace your inner child while you wait for some good food. Our waitress was very sweet and attentive. I'd be very glad to come back here and try more of what this place has to offer all across the board.

My husband and I stopped in Bellport to check out Main Street on a cold February day. Due to the fact that it's Winter, many restaurants in town didn't open till 4:00. When we asked the shop owners for a suggestion for lunch, specifically a place that served up burgers, we were directed to Painter's. It's just down the road from the little Main Street shops. Ambience: this place is huge and looks like it has a hopping night life with a big bar. It's decorated with lots of paintings (hence the name I suppose) and a sculpture hanging from the above. It's very artsy and eclectic. It's a cool vibe. Service: it was fine and nothing special. They didn't seem very happy or friendly. Food: we ordered a hamburger (the Georgia O'keefe with American cheese instead of Swiss) with French fries and a fried chicken sandwich with sweet potatoes. Both were okay and nothing special. Family friendly with paper table clothes and crayons for both kids and adults. Drawing totally vibes with the place. Quick, casual and back on our way. Nothing special to keep us there any longer than a quick bite to eat. Pay in cash and there's a slight discount.

Arroz con pollo

It was a very big portion, which I have no complaints about, but the food was not that great. The food needed some flavor, I added shrimp for $16 more and received 5 flavorless shrimp. I was hoping for more flavor based on the cost. Service was fine and the place looked good too.

$8 for a cup of coffee? Get out of here. And no non dairy option? Absolutely ridiculous. Burger was beyond under seasoned. Not good at all.

Maybe the best nachos I ever had. Our meals as a group of four were all really good. I cannot wait to go back. Highly recommended.

So 2026 did not come in hot for me. My little romances with Italian Mr. Big and my half-Italian…read moreAiden? Yeah... both fizzled. On top of that, my damn car decided to up and die, so I've been bleeding money on Ubers just to get to and from work. I even had to go into work on my day off just to sit around waiting for the tow truck so they could junk it. Love that for me. After I handled business with the junkers, I said eff it and headed to Whiskey Neat. I was starving--no breakfast, running on fumes--and since my job's in Patchogue, I figured I'd finally try them for lunch. First of all... happy hour on a Saturday from 12-6?! Uhhh hello?? In my Angelina from Jersey Shore voice. And if you pay cash, you get the discount. Say less. They've got a fabulous small plates menu. I started with the French onion soup--ooey gooey mozzarella, cheese pull was undefeated. Soup was delicious too. I haven't had French onion in ages and it really hit. Then I had the pulled pork slider, which was really good, but BABY... those short rib croquettes? To. Die. For. I also had to get my classic deviled eggs. A little heavy-handed on the paprika, but still solid. Drinks were half off, so of course I indulged. Started with an espresso martini because I needed something to jumpstart my day. Then I had a French martini because duh--I'm a French girl ‍. That one was good. Finished with my classic cosmo. Not gonna lie, I've had better, but it did what it needed to do and helped me forget my troubles for a couple hours. Also great playlist of music. I got there and they were playing Ska. Love me some Reel Big Fish and No Doubt. Mixed with some Motown and Bob Marley. Made me remember the good old days.

I've been to Main Street Patchogue a few times before and I'm always amazed at how it's now like Huntington, with tons of eateries, bars and places to hear live music. It was a busy late Spring Friday night and my cousin told me if we were there just two weeks later (ie, post Memorial Day), there would have been lines to get in anywhere. So make resos! I made one easily earlier that day and when we arrived around 7:30, it was not packed, but it is pretty loud in there even half full. Our waiter, Jonathan, expertly took such great care of us from start to finish, even taking my father's dad jokes in stride. There's a solid cocktail menu, but I had a couple glasses of a better-than-decent prosecco. My cousin loved his espresso martini. For food, count on a couple respectable vegan entrees and I went with the Japanese eggplant with cashew ricotta. The eggplant is delicious, slightly sweet with a creamy rather than chewy (thank god) texture. The cashew ricotta is also tasty, but I do think it needed to be blended a bit more to remove the slightly grainy texture (the cashews might have needed more soaking). My father loved his French onion soup and pastrami sandwich. Separate paragraph for the fries. They deserve it. I'm glad we ordered these to share- it's an enormous platter of them. I appreciated that they were salted perfectly. I appreciate restaurants that can make satisfy a variety of preferences and dietary restrictions. The vibe here is festive and vibrant and a great choice for groups and families.

Off…read morethe get go, customer service was great and offered a coat check free of charge for my jacket and umbrella since it was raining, definitely helped make it feel just a touch more upscale than your usual restaurant. Our wait staff was nothing but kind and patient with our moderately large party and checked up on us without being overbearing. Ambiance is very cool, and definitely leans into its classic and nostalgic feel of its name, but not in a campy way. If you bring a date here, they would be impressed by the nice tile and wooden features alone, but it's the food that is really going to blow them away, but we will get to that next. The menu and cocktails do rotate seasonally a bit, so your experience may vary on availability for some items, but if you come back often enough (and spoiler, you will want to), you'll see them comeback! We started with Caesar salad, calamari, and Korean fried wings with the easy standout being the fried wings, a bit spicy but delicious but buyer beware they are messy (don't worry though, they give you moist towelettes to clean yourself off), calamari was cooked exactly how it needed to be and not rubbery, and the Caesar salad was as good as I've had it anywhere (although there's was made with tahini, giving it a little sesame flair). For mains, we had a pesto pasta, steak frites with an au poivre sauce, with sides of jersey asparagus and mashed potatoes. Steak was cooked just right and I'd dip almost anything in that sauce, and the pesto pasta was a nice lighter and herby balance to the meal. Fries were perfectly crisp shoestring style and the other end of the potato spectrum was the delightfully smooth mashed potatoes and gravy. Asparagus has always been my favorite green, and adding a cream sauce with bacon only makes this version of it that much more enticing. Capping off with dessert, we had the chocolate Basque cheesecake, a brown sugar pie, and a pistachio cake. Choosing a favorite out of these is like choosing a favorite child I'm sure, but I am still craving more of that cheesecake, RUN do not walk to get that at the very least. Parking can be crazy in patchogue, there is a small attached lot and some street parking, but I'd advise using one of the municipal lots nearby and walking a little bit for your own sanity. One of my favorite dining experiences in patchogue to date, and will be happy to comeback here to try more of the menu for any occasion!

I've come here a couple times, mostly for happy hour since they have great specials on drinks and food during that time (a Sunday happy hour?? sign me up)! There's a rotating list of cocktails as well as the staples. Last time I got a potato chip martini of sorts, because why not, and it was actually super tasty! Brunch is also a good time to come with a limited menu so you're not overwhelmed with a little of everything on it. I tried the salmon caesear salad which was light with a nice dressing. We also tried the pancakes which were fluffy and delicious, as well as the steak and eggs (can't go wrong). Bottomless mimosas are also offered for $25 additional. I can't wait to do lunch/dinner here in the future.

The vibe was friendly and inclusive, which made for a really enjoyable night. The parking lot is huge, though it still struggled to fit everyone--this place clearly draws a crowd. There were lots of motorcycles, which added to the cool, slightly rugged scene. The bar itself has a large back patio, several rooms inside, and a spacious main bar that wraps around three sides. Seating is plentiful and well laid out. There was a pool table that got a lot of use--make sure to bring quarters if you want to play. We also caught a live band playing that night and they were fantastic, though the volume was a bit overwhelming at times. Still, the energy was great, and the music was a big plus. The bartender, Donna (I think that was her name), was friendly and attentive. I only had a drink, so I'm not sure if they serve food--I'll have to check on that next time. It's also worth noting they offer free Wi-Fi and have several large TVs, which was a nice bonus. My coworkers, who had already been here a few times, all seemed to enjoy themselves again. One thing I always pay attention to is lighting, and Frogzz hit the mark: not too bright, not too dim--just right for a relaxed night out. And yes, true to the name, there's frog-themed decor everywhere--fun, quirky, and definitely part of the charm. All in all, a thumbs up. I'd come back with friends. The overall automosphere seems geared more toward an older crowd. However, it's still chill and easy to enjoy at any age.

Long story, short the stars finally aligned and I found myself at the trailer, with an appetite when it was open. I'm glad that this finally worked out. I went with the Rajun Cajun. Good quality burger I suspect weighing in somewhere between 1/3 and 1/2 of a pound. Well seasoned and not too salty. Cooked to a perfect medium so it was good and juicy. I normally do not favor potato rolls but these was good soft bun that other buns should envy. The whole thing with the lettuce and tomato was packed in a clam-shell and even with the 7 minute drive home didn't turn into a soggy mess. While Scheduling may be a bit of a challenge, you can bet I'll be back when the stars once again align.
