Came back for the World Cup: USA v Australia. Food: Missing. There were so many things they ran out of: Towers for beer, Water jugs for tables, Angry Orchard on Tap, Kona Brewing on Tap, Casamigos at the Bar, Blue Cheese for wings. Tried Bull Smiths Tavern on Monday afternoon on a bright clear 65 degree day. I immediately noticed the setting; big garage doors open along the large L-shaped bar which made for a great indoor-outdoor atmosphere. There's also a solid amount of outdoor seating, and the space overall feels like it can easily transition into a nightlife or event spot later on. Then our dining experience got underway. The bartender who sat us was friendly. The service however lagged behind thereafter. The service was slow, likely because our waiter seemed to be juggling multiple roles. A few small things were quite a bit annoying. There was no physical beer list, so being rattled off a long list of tap and bottle beers felt like a memorization game that I had to choose a beer on the spot. Also noticed the table and menu felt a bit sticky, suggesting some attention to cleanliness is needed. Food was a mixed bag. The Nashville chicken sandwich was underwhelming--a thin piece of chicken served lukewarm, topped with two pickles, and minimal coleslaw on a Martin's potato roll. The lack of slaw made it harder to balance the spice, and oddly, the fries were hotter temperature wise than the sandwich itself. The Bull Smith burger fared better. It was well-constructed and flavorful, especially with the onion ring and BBQ sauce, and the bun was great. That said, burger came out more a well-done temp than the requested medium-well, which took away from it slightly. A few details stood out more as missed opportunities than real issues: there was no mention of that the special for Monday was pasta night. Also not a mention it was happy hour. And while fry substitutions were offered, the upcharge wasn't disclosed. None of these impacted the final bill negatively, but clearer communication would have improved the experience. Overall, it's a place with a good setup, but inconsistent service, some cleanliness issues and execution hold it back. Absolutely love the vibe here! We went during a semifinal game with the Knicks so there were a few people watching the game. It was also May 4th, and I'm happy to see they were also playing Star Wars. I got the grilled chicken sandwich which came with fries (I got sweet potato). It was plenty of food for me! Delicious food with incredible prices. We went on Tuesday, Taco Tuesday, when they were offering $1 tacos. Important to note: the tacos are served as 3 minis, so it's actually $3 for a taco meal. They are sizable enough and worth the price. Bacon Cheeseburger was my favorite but maybe ask for no bacon, as it's definitely McCormick artificial bits rather than cut up fresh bacon. Mediterranean was great and fresh. Classic Margarita was delicious! Service was kind and friendly but very slow since they seemed to have assigned one waitress many tables indoors and outdoors. It was VERY busy when we went around 8pm. Ambiance is nice, modern, but the inside was extremely loud. Don't expect to talk with your friends if you sit inside. Came here on a Saturday night. There was a private event outside on the patio so we pretty much had the place to ourselves which was nice. There were several bartenders milling about behind the bar hanging out. We were at a table, and given menus. However no one came to our table once to see if we wanted food. I was thinking of the mozz sticks or sharing a pretzel with my friends. *Shrug* I did get a mocktail with fresh muddled strawberries so A+ for that. Drive slow when approaching because the turn is a bit narrow when coming from the west to turn down the side street which leads to the main parking. read more

Excellent Bar/Restaurant. They have a stage for live music, a big inside open bar, that during the warmer months it has 2 garage style doors that opens the bar to the outside. Good amount of seating areas, inside and outside. Outside Fire pits and heater towers for the fall. Food is really good. Service is good too. During October they have a haunted house/maze outside. They have a private upstairs for large parties. Lots of TVs with every game on. Only minor downside is that it gets Loud....I mean, it's a bar so you should expect that. Good spot! read more

Went there to watch a FIFA game. There are no bar stools at the bar, you have to go outside and find your own to bring in. They had a bottomless wing special for $35. Took about an hour for the wings to come out, 6 pieces. I requested more, took another hour. I kept asking where they were, the bartenders kept saying "we have one deep fryer and we're packed". This time there were only 4 wings. Asked for more, they never came. So it was $35 for 10 wings. Why have a bottomless wing special if you only have one deep fryer? I'll start off by saying we were pleasantly surprised with our experience here considering the rating. Honestly, the rating is what took this place off the radar initially but their "free burger" day was too much to pass up. Very happy we came in, and if their goal was to get more foot traffic through the door they certainly succeeded today. Huge space, upstairs, downstairs, and outdoor seating areas, friendly staff, and good food. -Buffalo Mac & Cheese 4/5: Served in a hot skillet; this was flavorful and a great portion to share. The chicken was delicious. -Brunch Burger & Bull Smith Burger: 4/5, both of these were very good. The brunch burger would've been better with regular bacon rather than the bacon jam in my opinion but either way both burgers were good and a great size. $18-21 burgers usually raise a brow but these were good (and like I mentioned above free today!) Other than the food, a $4 IPA draft is worth a full star on its own. The atmosphere was nice, the food was good, and the staff were friendly. This is one of those cases where I think the yelp rating is definitely lower than it should be and I'd say this spot is absolutely worth trying out. We'll be back for sure. read more

It was my first time going to this restaurant. I walked in and asked for a table of 3. It was very obvious that tables were available and the hostess said we have no tables but you can sit at the bar. Then I walked out to their patio and opened the open table app. There were reservations available for every 15 minutes. I proceeded to make a reservation and then walk back in. Once I told the hostess I have a reservation for 3 and gave my name, suddenly a table was available. She did say it would be outside and I said why can't we sit inside there are many tables open. She hesitated and then seated us inside. The next issue arose when it came to ordering food. Their website states that every Thursday there is a $10 burger and pint of beer special. That was the reason for us coming. We told the waitress and she said she can't honor that deal despite the website homepage advertising it. Rather than telling us the deal can't be honored, why not amend the homepage to say in fine print that if there is an event going on, then the burger special will not be honored. Between both issues, we ended up getting up and leaving within 5 minutes of being seated and went to eat somewhere else. Horrible experience and complete dysfunction from what I saw. First the good, food was really good, highly recommend the peach/Sriracha wings, burger was very good and cooked right. Prices are reasonable and would go back for dinner again. Now the bad, before I made a reservation for 10 of us I had asked if there would be live music during the Islanders game as that was why we were all going and I was told by the gentlemen who answered the phone that they put the feed on and they do not have live music during games. Well, although the music was good and we would of enjoyed it normally but it interfered with the game. Recently went back for dinner with my family and what a great experience. I've previously reviewed and wasn't the best but they corrected and addressed all the issues it seems and what a great time. First time visiting Bull Smith's and was very impressed with the overall transformation of the establishment when it was Croxleys. Plenty of outdoor seating with a combination of tables and modular seating with patio heaters. Inside large L shaped bar affording plenty of bar seating with two garage door style windows overlooking the bar area. Large flat screen TVs offering didn't sporting events for viewing pleasure. Large open concept seating g area with plenty of seating availability. In addition the Restaurant offers a large upstairs venue for large events. Greeted warmly when we entered but opted for bar seating. Bill Smith burger ( with cheese and thick cut bacon) was very good but chose asparagus instead of fries for a nominal up charge. Good selection of beer and drinks but went with a Guinness beer . Overall great transformation with plenty of parking, outside and inside seating and friendly staff. Only criticism was the somewhat long wait for our burgers especially since it was not crowded ( only folks there at 12:30 on a Saturday afternoon) but definitely worth the wait. Maybe offering a free beer would be nice the next time it should happen but hopefully it won't. Overall great place to visit for good food and drinks whether inside or outside. read more

We really enjoyed having lunch there with my family! The place had been renovated and it looks awesome. Niche chandeliers and the bar had several tvs around. Great atmosphere and service. We were greeted right away and sat down at a big table set up for us. We were greeted by the chef Hugo Rojas who came to say hello. We ordered our food and it came pretty fast. We had appetizers to start: Nachos & chicken wings to start. Yummy! We all like the Bull Smith special burgers with the bbq sauce. Delicious. I love this bar and have been here numerous times for lunch, dinner and watch the games. I just wished there was a bar like this near me on the south shore. From the outside you wouldn't think this place is big but it is and looks very nice. They have 2 large rollup garage doors for their outdoor bar area. I have always got great service here even when the place is jammed packed due to a sports game or an event. The staff is really on top of their game and is accommodating to find you a table or a spot the bar. They have the best specials all around daily . Like I said I just wished they were closer to where I live or I would come here 2-4 times a week. The food is not your typical bar food it is better. I love coming here when they have meet and greets from sports legends. My son and I have gotten numerous photo opps and signatures. Food: first we got their wings which were excellent although not everyone likes the breaded kind but they were super crispy and some big boys! Buffalo sauce was spot on and served w blue cheese plus carrots and celery which is always the correct way to do it! Next for the entrees we got the salmon as well as the philly cheesesteak. Salmon was excellent, cooked perfectly and served w cherry tomatoes and asparagus. The French fries here are amazing, perfectly crispy shoestrings. The only fail was my cheesesteak which the meat was very chewy, thicker than it should be and had an odd unappealing flavor. I saw afterwards that other reviews said similar as well as with the steak tidbits so I think the chef should look into changing to either thinly sliced roast beef for the cheesesteaks and maybe a better cut of skirt or flank for the tidbits. The only other slight pet peeve of mine is the entrees were delivered less than 5 minutes after the wings. It seems like there's some room for improvement here in the kitchen but overall I really liked this place and it has a ton of potential. read more

First, kudos to the owners for a fine renovation. The Bull Smith Tavern in my guess was designed from menu to ambiance to tables, to attract a younger crowd (nothing wrong with that). Cheap food, cheap drinks defined TBST very well. This was our first visit and again very impressed with the effort put into the redesign. Unfortunately that's where it might begin and end. First up, Wing appetizer along with the Hummus Platter. The wings were good if breaded is your thing, however no matter the establishment, I am highly sensitive to previously frozen chicken as noted by dark bones and a slight off taste they bear. I often wonder how ownership thinks customers don't notice this. The Hummus platter was fine however it was served with celery, carrots and sliced cucumbers. I will not pass judgment on the veggie assortment, however, the celery served was old and rubbery, shocking to say the least! I had the Steak Frites served medium rare, my wife had the Steak Tidbits and both were absolutely horrifying. The meat was like chewing on tongue and flavors dreadful. The Frites was served with fries coated with cheese, terrible smell and terrible taste. The Tidbits served with standard shoe string fries which were good. My son ordered the California Burger and he loved it. That being said, I will not be returning but if we did, we would stick to burgers and beer. Upon our arrival there was a guitar player singing and strumming and I feel the reverberation found in TBST along with acoustics just made this poor guy sound like a noisy guitar strumming mess. It was loud and virtually couldn't distinguish if he was actually playing a song. Fortunately, his time was short and packed up and left. If you're in your mid 20's want a find good looking place to hang and meet people then go to TBST. For this reviewer, I found it to be nothing other than a bunch of Bull-Smith! read more

I was told multiple times it wouldn't begin until much later--around 10:30 or even 11. As someone who works in film/TV, I'm used to things running on schedule--especially paid events. I waited 45 minutes with no updates. While waiting, I paid $20 for a single Surfside and got $2 back--$18 for one canned drink is wild, even by Hamptons standards. I ended up leaving--$70 wasted on a delayed event and $20 on a drink. I reached out twice. They replied once, offered a spot at the next event, and I appreciated that. I even removed my review thinking they were trying to make it right. But once I asked for details, they stopped responding. If you're running events and charging premium prices, clear communication and timing are basic expectations. Unfortunately, both were lacking. read more

We found a few seats at the bar and had to flag down one of the three kids playing bartender otherwise we would've been waiting for 15mins. If they weren't talking to each other, they were talking to the young girls... This place needs experienced bartenders or a seasoned head bartender that can keep the kids on task. The bartender that finally helped us was a nice young man, but never asked if we wanted a refill. The couple next to us left after being ignored for 10 mins. As a general manager in the industry myself, I can confidently say he embodies what it means to be a hard-working and dedicated team member. Nick truly cares about every guest. I watched him leave the bar multiple times to check on food and ensure everyone was happy--not something you see every day. His level of service and attention to detail were exceptional. Whether you're pulling up for a chill night with the boys or looking to be part of a movie-like party scene on the weekend, this place delivers. Food? Solid every time, thanks to Chef Doug -- he's hands down the best cook around, and let's just say, he's very handsome too. Drinks? Also great -- especially if you catch one of their deals. Pro tip: check their social media ahead of time to see what specials are running. They also have beer towers, so if you're in the mood to share with a group, that's the way to go. They've got tons of TVs, which makes it the perfect spot during the week to kick back and watch the game. That's usually when I roll through. The vibe is way more laid back then, but it transforms into a packed party scene on the weekends if that's more your thing. Service is consistently good, and the staff deserves serious recognition. Nicolette behind the bar is top tier -- fast, friendly, and always on point. Alex, one of the servers, is awesome and always provides great service with a smile. Brian (the barback) is always hustling and keeping the place running smoothly. Plus, Connor the manager is super personable and informative -- always willing to chat and make the experience even better. One of the most epic events they host is Eggs and Kegs, which goes down when there's a football game in a foreign nation. For those early morning games, you get the buffet and unlimited beer, and while it doesn't happen often, when it does, it's nothing short of electric. ambiance was nice, cool place nice bar thats half outside half inside. cool spot for smithtown looks wise- it's different from everywhere else. drinks were overpriced though! my boyfriend got an Li tea for $16 each when he gets it for like $12-$13 elsewhere. they said his drink wasn't in happy hour like other 'mixed drinks'. sizes weren't consistent. i got a marg and it was half the size of some other cocktails and his drinks were diff sized per each bartender. drinks were decent not great, and smallish. live music was a cool idea but band kinda was just annoying & lackluster. service was pitiful at bar, had to beg them to make u a drink for 15mins and heard another guy complain he waited 30min for a drink. it wasn't that busy. bar is kids more concerned chatting. no parking really, had to park way down at train station. intentionally semi higher end but corners skimped. some things on menu moderate but some overpriced for where you're at. it's smithtown not nassau. .needs a lot of work but has potential. read more
