This place is so therapeutic and welcoming. The staff is always so helpful and willing to provide any tips/ideas they may have. The turn-around time to receive your item back completely finished (glazed) is only 1 week which is honestly superb. I also love that they offer classes. I think my favorite part about coming here is that it can either be used as a solo self care trip or a family outing where everyone is free from distractions such as phones, crowds, etc. I've been here twice and both times I've had a wonderful experience. I will say that it is a bit overpriced, but considering the fact that you're provided with access to so many materials makes up for it in my eyes. We received a text message about our pottery being done and we promptly made arrangements to drive down as we don't live local. Checked the website and the yelp to confirm they are still open at 6 pm. Made our way to Temecula and when we got there the whole place was closed with no sign in the door, the sign that was there said they were open until 8 tonight. We called the store in case there were any staff who could give us an explanation or just even our pottery and got sent to the answering machine, which also indicated that they were open until 8 that night. Nowhere, the text we received, online, or even at the store gave any explanation or even slight word of them being closed. Closed two hours before they are suppose to and no worker in sight. Horrible experience and now having to figure out arrangements to pick it up a different day and just hope that they'll actually be open the next time. read more

I've been coming here every year for the past 4 to do Christmas gifts for my grand kids and have felt nothing but a positive attitude and a great willingness to assist. I'm a people person and have worked in marketing for years and this store has customer service dialed in, in a big way. The staff is very helpful from the manager down. I always ask loads of questions on color and texture as I want the gifts to be "Just Right" and as my lettering is atrocious the staff will to do that part for me at no additional charge. I went here for the first time, and it will be my last time. I picked out a 34 dollar plate to paint. I painted it, paid for it and was told to come back in a week to retrieve it. Meanwhile I threw away the receipt because who needs those. I go back and they tell me that they don't have my plate. Meanwhile never offered to let me make another one or refund me. I am very upset as I am a broke college kid and made this plate for my dad as a gift. They said "we either gave it to someone else or it's on display". I am incredibly sad and disappointed by this. Painted Earth is Amzing! The overall experience was tremendous. Their studio is clean, organized and well put together. Staff had masks and took temps. definitely made me feel safer!! The staff was very genuine and helpful! One staff member really stood out. I don't find the prices to be too high at all, like some reviews have suggested. You are not only paying for your piece, but also for paint, wear and tear on the tools, firing, employee assistance, etc. And of course, like any business, they need to make a profit! If you are wanting a cheap experience get some supplies at Walmart and do your project at home. But if you chose to do that, you are definitely missing out! I brought my 12 year old daughter Emma in tonight, along with 4 of her friends. It's Emma's birthday and she chose Painted Earth as her fun activity for during her sleepover party with her friends! We've been here too many times to count over the past several years, and as always it's a wonderful experience. We have many fantastic memories here through the years; not only do all of my kids enjoy it, but my husband and I have had our "date night" here as well! Tonight, the girls had so much fun, and their pieces are something to remind them of these special times with their friends, forever. Tonight's employee on duty was Maddalynn (sorry if I spelled that wrong!) and she was great! She really connected with the girls and made them feel like fantastic artists! She was so kind to us. This is a nice place to bring the kids, or even just yourself for a relaxing painting session. I typed in the Yelp search bar "kids activities", and this was one of the places that popped up. It was already kinda getting late to bring them to a museum or a park, so I decided to bring them here. I came here with my daughters (aged 3 and 5)... I never been to a place like this, so had had to be guided. My kids and I picked a clay ornament that we wanted to paint. I had a dolphin, my girls had a rubber ducky and a kitten. They loved painting them! My 3 year old got a bit tired and fussy towards the end. Overall, the experience for me was soooo relaxing, even though I had my kids with me. It was a very calm setting (although my kids were talking kinda loud lol). To be honest, they are a bit pricey (it came up to about $57 for the 3 of us. $6 per person to sit, plus the smaller ornaments we had ranged from $11-$13. I really enjoyed the experience and recommend coming here. I'll be coming back, possibly for classes by myself. read more

My mom and I are regulars here, I come in anywhere from 3-6 days a week, depending, and she comes in 5-7. We love all of the employees here. They've always been informative, sweet, and we've become pretty good friends with them! We definitely recommend getting the season pass if you're going to be coming in more than 4 times within a period of 2-3 months. One of my favorite places to go to at least once a year :) It is kind of pricey but art stuff is never cheap! I would know being an art major ;) You get to pick out an item to paint then you have to come back to pick it up after it is glazed! But everything I have gotten here I am pleased with. A few times my items have chipped marks on it but it doesn't bother me too much. My favorite things to paint are the coffee mugs! I get the most use out of them! I've really enjoyed my past experiences here. While it isn't cheap, I don't consider it overpriced at all. There is a small studio fee, for the firing, and the rest depends on the piece that you select. They have a wide selection of paints and supplies to choose from, which you are free to use as much or as many as you like. They don't charge you individually for the paint, like I have experienced in other places. The staff is always happy to walk you through the basics, and there are instruction books there to help give you ideas. If you want more hands-on instruction, I recommend you take a class (though I haven't done so here). As a semi-experienced artist and an introvert, it suits me nicely to just do as I want at my own pace without having to interact with a person every five minutes if I need more paint or anything else. There are often kids here, which can sometimes get a bit noisy, but I just ignore them. I also enjoy their choice of music they play inside the shop. Their employees have good taste, and they seem to have no issue with you bringing in a snack or a drink to enjoy while you paint. Firing always takes a week and, no, they do not call, but they tell you explicitly the time and date for pickup when you drop it off at the counter. You don't have to get it immediately, though I'm not sure they hold pieces for more than a week or so. I could never wait that long to see the final result, though! read more

Staff was very friendly. I loved that there was indoor and outdoor seating. I really liked the set up for picking paint and the brushes. I wish the sink area was bigger and cleaning supplies to clean off your water mugs and tile paint pallets was easier to retrieve. It just gets a little busy in the area while you're waiting to clean up. And metallic paints available. Even if for an additional charge would be a fun idea. The 2 young ladies working were extremely helpful and attentive. I called the beginning of Jan to make a reservation for Jan 21st for 7 people. I wasn't able to make it online so I called and spoke to a male. My cousin and I were celebrating our 40th birthday so that day was a special day for both of us. When we arrived at our "scheduled" time we were told there was no reservation and someone forgot to put it in. They offered to fit us out in the cold while it rained that day but that was not an options due to health issues for one of us. They told us to give them an hour for a table. They sat us down over an hour later. 20 mins in, we are asked to move to a smaller table because a reservation they did get right was coming in. So frustrated at that point they told us they would refund us 1/2 off our pieces. Today, our pieces were picked up so we all checked our bank accounts. I am not surprise most of us didn't receive a refund at all and one of us received a full refund. I have been to the Menifee location and have never had an issue. The one time we tried the Temecula location and it's the worse. What should have been a special day didn't go so well. read more

For starters this place is extremely over priced. A "sitting fee" along with paying $15-$20 for a smaller item for a child to paint. Not to mention I was told the prices were much lower when I called before coming in. Also when I called I asked if a 2 and 3 year old would be good here on a Friday night and was told "that's the perfect age" that was the farthest thing from the truth. This place is a Friday night date place so kids is a no especially that young. They got over it in about 10 mins and it turned into a disaster. I wouldn't recommend any child younger then 6 maybe 5. Would be nice if I got better info when I call to ask the important things. Seems all they care about is getting there $$$$. I'd give five stars except for the price, which we all have to agree is outrageous. But, my kids love it, and I'm always happy I came even if I grumble as I pull out my credit card. We've been here maybe seven or eight times, and it's always fun. Today I came in with my four year old for a mother-daughter afternoon. It was slow-ish, with about two or three other people doing painting as well. Service is always very attentive and friendly. The atmosphere is beautiful, artistic, creative, and relaxing. You truly feel like you're in an art studio, not a cookie-cutter chain. (This local place has one other store, in the new huge shopping center in Menifee near Haun Road.) You pick your pottery piece first. There are maybe 150 to choose from, with a lot of plates, coffee mugs, and seasonal items. This time of year there were a bunch of Christmas ornaments. My daughter chose a doggy piggy bank and I choose a spoon rest. Then you find your seat at one of the comfy tables. All of the equipment is at the wall/sink area -- there are bowls to fill with water, tons of brushes in all different sizes, sponges, different paints, and other tools. There are glazed tiles on the wall to show you what the finished product will look like. You put your colors on a palette and paint at your table. Each time I've been in, the workers have been helpful without being pushy. For instance today she was giving tips and suggestions which my four year old did, but then she was understanding when my daughter (being four) just decided to do her own thing. After you're done, they fire it and you come back for pick-up in about a week. Price is $6 per person studio fee plus the cost of the pottery. Tuesday is 2-for-1 fee day, but the pottery is still outrageous. My spoon rest was $12. But you're paying for the overall experience. They offer many special events such as camps, classes, homeschool events, and also pottery wheel throwing classes. read more

I absolutely love this place! I have been going here since I was a little kid and have yet to have a bad experience. Upon arriving, you are greeted and set up a table in which to paint at. If you are new to the experience, they will help assist you throughout your selection and painting process (if you wish so). If not, you are free to explore and get your creativity on the go. There is a good selection of ceramic pieces to choose from as well as a plethora of paint colors and glazes to paint with. They provide all sorts of sample pieces to help spark some creativity and have tips on how to achieve a certain look. If needed, they have stencils, stamps, and other helpful utensils to help you as well. Never be afraid to ask the employees for help, though, for they can help you a great deal. Depending on your piece, your price at checkout can vary greatly. There is a $7 studio fee which covers the paint and glaze. If you don't quite finish your masterpiece all in one sitting then just take it home (after you pay) with you and bring it back next time (you will only be charged $7 for a studio fee next time). Glazing takes about a week and really does amazing things to the look of your piece. Every week they choose a piece of the week and the winner gets a $10 gift card that you can use next time you come. Personally, I love the atmosphere and love the general idea behind Painted Earth. They have great music which puts you at ease when you paint. If you are an artistic person, then I would definitely suggest coming here.
