My husband is from Malaysia . We just found this place near MOMA. What a treat . We ordered their chicken rice platter . The platter came with rice , Curry Chicken and salad and whole egg and sam al . They pour the curry over rice and egg . The food was delicious and chicken was soft and tender .The entree was very flavorful. Will be back soon .

So I haven't actually been to Singapore, but I've heard their food courts are amazing. This place feels a lot more special than some random mall food court with Panda Express. I love the fast casual informal nature here, since sometimes you don't want the formalities of table service. Beef Rendang Set: A very hearty meal set! Big chunks of stringy beef penetrated with so many spiced flavors. A decent amount of thick sauce to cover the beef and the rice. One boiled eggs that seems to be covered in a kinda spicy sauce. Very filling and delicious.

I got the beef rendang set. If you get it to stay, they provide the food on a plate with metal utensils which is a nice touch. It's similar to how it is at hawker centers in Singapore too. For $20, the set came with beef, fried egg, rice and salad. The salad was fresh and crispy. The fried egg was nice as it was somehow fried whole? It also came with slightly spicy sauce on top. The flavor of the beef was on point and a touch spicy. Actually the spice started the build for me the more I ate it. They also pour the sauce all over the rice which made it much tastier. I wish the beef was slightly more tender like pulled pork as it took a bit of elbow grease to shred the beef pieces with a metal fork and spoon.

So dry, hard to chew. Portion is so small for $20 I'd not go again. Maybe they have better food in the menu but i wouldn't recommend to go

Food wise it is decent. Given the price, I expected a portion to fill me but it didn't really. With the rice you get a larger portion of food. Service is mostly self service just go grab and get a seat. Can't say much about ambiance. Seems like a nice place to grab dinner.

Absolutely delicious lontong-; quick, friendly, helpful service! Packaging survived the trip home unscathed. For soup, this is impressive.

Urban Hawker always delivers on the variety of Asian food options. The food options aren't your traditional American Chinese food but are authentic to countries like Singapore and I'm very glad for that. Location is decent since it's in midtown. For the food, we decided to get the beef rendang. It came with big chunks of beef, rice, salad, and a delicious fragrant sauce. Overall, I felt like it was a good amount of food to feel good despite the price tag. I like how the menu isn't too large so I'll definitely be back to try more. Thank you Padi D'NYC team for recommending the beef rendang option upon asking and bringing the food so quickly to us. I will be back to check out more!

Solid spot for Malay food! Food: we ordered the lontong which is essentially rice cakes, tofu, veggies mixed in a coconut broth! It was very flavorful! Service: very quick! Ambience: the food hall has a lot of seating which I liked!

Craving authentic Halal Singaporean-Malay cuisine? Look no further than this gem inside Urban Hawker, the ultimate Singapore street food center in the heart of Midtown! we ordered: Ayam Gulai set - Rich and tender, bursting with flavors! Satay - Perfectly grilled skewers with a delectable peanut sauce. Mee Bakso - Noodles with a beef ball soup Nasi Lemak (New Menu ) - Fragrant coconut rice with an array of tasty sides. Lontong Kering ( New Menu) - A dry version of lontong, just as delightful! Every dish is absolutely delicious and packed with authentic flavors. They've got a new menu now, so it's the perfect time to visit and try the latest additions. Highly recommend this spot if you're in the mood for some Halal Singapore-Malay cuisine. Good food. Authentic, too, as the chefs are Malay women (at least for me. Are also men). Asked if wanted my mee rebus to be spicy. Said yes. I lived in Malaysia and know their food is good. Also have satays I enjoyed another time. Unfortunately, think they are priced too high.

Food (3/5): There was too little meat and compared to rice and veggies. Additionally, the flavor was just OK. For the price point of $20 after tax it's not really worth it. Service (3/5): The person was helpful and got the food out. They unfortunately don't have any water cups but the restaurant nearby was able to provide. Ambiance (5/5): It's in the Urban Hawker which has an amazing ambiance and energy. Tons of seating space but because it's busy, you might have trouble finding seating.

Ah, nothing like diving straight into my mother's comfort food. Her Malaysian roots meant I spent a good amount of time north of Singapore and THANKFUL for it. Memories of being 8 eating close to 200 satay skewers that freaked out the vendors and my relatives at the same time still brings a deep smile. Yeah, I was *that* kid. The night before I began my drive to MA, I was reminiscing with my mother about our comfort foods of that era - naming things that are now gone as well as the staples that we picked up in LA - thanks to the diversity and availability there. Lontong, Rendang, and Satay definitely were things on the table that night so it should be no surprise that on the same night here in Urban Hawker, it was all on the table again with multiple text messages to the dear mother telling her just how much I loved and missed her. Her first reaction? $20 for 6 satay??!!!??? (@#*%@*#%#@ - lol) Welcome to NYC mom. ;) Rendang was on the dry side but the flavors were there. Lontong was spot on and it disappeared fast. Ate it as fast as I remembered mom doing it. As for the satay, it's where they lost a star. As tender as it was, as aromatic as it was, it FAILED to shine due to being severely under salted. It was sadly bland. I hope they correct this soon as they have potential. Padi D'NYC is a gateway to what the cuisine has to offer. I won't even say they are remotely close to par with what is normal in Singapore (much less Malaysia). It is a good introduction to the flavors of the cuisine but please don't ever think that this is "it" when it comes to Malay flavors. There is a lot more and I hope they continue to adjust and bolden it up. Thank you and welcome to NYC!

One of the best at Urban Hawker Center. The Mee Rebus is beyond this world. Satay Ayam is also good.

The chicken was very tender, well prepared, and so were the veggies. I think it has stiff competition by way of Lou Yau Kee but is definitely up there as top 5 southeast chicken rices in the city! I would def come back here and what's great is that you can feel healthy bc it's steamed/poached chicken, rice and veggies :) It's inside Urban Hawker, so you can get a variety of other things to go with your meal - might I recommend Kopi (malaysian coffee) at the nearby stand? The flavors were bold, authentic, and the chicken skin was silky smooth. The cucumbers had a nice crunch and the veggies as well. They give you two sauces, one of them is spicy and might be hotter than you expect so try it first.

The vendors represent essential cuisines like Malay, Peranakan, Chinese, Indian, Southeast Asian, and Asian-style Western favorites. The first time I went to Urban Hawker was in December 2022, so I was very happy to be back again. I went to Hainan Jones for the Singapore Hainanese Chicken Rice. The menu offers two chicken rice sets: poached or roasted Hainanese Chicken Rice, Chicken Porridge, or a salad. Hainanese Chicken Rice is considered one of Singapore's most celebrated local dishes and is the star at Hainan Jones. I ordered the Signature Poached Chicken Rice Set ($19). The rice set is served with very fragrant chicken rice and broth accompanied by oyster vegetables with fried shallots, cucumbers, a chili sauce, and dark soy sauce. It didn't take very long for the order to be ready. The poached chicken was very smooth, tender, and tasty. I enjoyed the flavor of the chicken by itself and dipping it in the dark soy sauce. It was a good portion and very filling. My husband got the roasted chicken and he enjoyed it. There are plenty of tables for seating at Urban Hawker. After eating, I bought the tray to the trash area and there were staff taking the tray and cleaning tables. I'm looking forward to the next time I can visit Urban Hawker.

Was told that the fish was super crispy so I got that with fried rice. Purposely asked questions in Canto to let them know I'm with the home team. Fried rice is made to order and it's actually decent. Food comes out piping hot. The fish is covered with a thick breading that reminds me of the frozen breaded tilapia from Trader Joe. It's a big serving (ended up with enough left over for a second meal) but you'll have to work thru that breading. On its own it has pretty much no flavor but it comes with a black pepper sauce that you'll need. The sauce is weirdly thick but along with the thick breading the fish will stay crispy.
