Finally got the chance to have lunch here on a Saturday and am already looking forward to coming back! It was not difficult to find a reservation for 2 and although it was packed, we were able to stay much longer than the 90 minute limit. We got the moo dang puff to start which were absolutely delicious and perfectly crispy. We also got the eggplant salad which was refreshing but not an absolute must get. The star of our meal was the chicken khao soi. The curry was incredibly flavorful, the noodles were perfectly cooked and the chicken fell right off the bone. Soothr is a famous Thai restaurant in NYC! This place gets PACKED and the space inside is rather small, so I definitely recommend a reservation if possible. The decor around the restaurant was also beautiful. The servers were all very friendly, but you can tell that they wanted us to leave towards the end of our meal (90-minute dining time) so that they could flip the table. We got the Shrimp Pad Thai, Dara Citrine, Rose Quartz, Yum Pu Nhim, and Chicken Ki-Mao Noodles. As for the cocktails, they had a whole menu dedicated to birthstones so that was pretty innovative. The Dara Citrine tasted strong while the Rose Quartz tasted good. Our server recommended the Yum Pu Nhim which was the fried soft-shell crab tossed in herbs, Thai chili, and a lime dressing. This was the highlight of dinner for me. It was SO good! The crab tasted amazing and had a great crunch while the dressing it was in was so flavorful. My Chicken Ki-Mao Noodles were good, but there was a slightly tangy taste to the dish, which I am not used to. It still tasted good, but different. The eggplant salad is a bit like a thai babaganoush and a little on the small side. The pork salad was good. Went in on a Monday around 3pm. We were able to get a table immediately. The restaurant is very quaint. Not too loud. Very few tables and intimate. The server was attentive and helpful. Our water glasses were kept full at all times. Our mains came with a small side of pork meatballs and dumplings. The dumplings were fantastic. The meatballs were a little tough but still good. Hot take, I thought Soothr was...good. We arrived here in the evening on a Friday night, and by mere luck of the draw were able to sit down without a reservation, pretty much immediately! Wonderful! We ordered a few of the classics, a Beef Pad Si-Iw, Pla Tod, Roasted Masamum Vegatable Curry. We also got a few of the drinks, which are selected from a rather interesting, colorful menu. And oh do the drinks come out rather strikingly resembling that menu, for better or for worse. The restaurant itself is nice. It's decorated to theme, it's delicious to the nose, and the food is yes, fine. Even the takeaway bag for leftover food was super cute. But in particular I thought the drinks were mediocre, really falling short of what rival Fish Cheeks had to offer. They felt a bit more focused on color, and what I might expect at a 'Rainforest Cafe' type of establishment than a New York City cocktail bar. I don't know. We didn't have any major issues, but nothing stood out in a positive way either. The atmosphere itself is lively and trendy, so I can see why it's popular, especially for a night out.
