2. Singapore Noodles

Came at 11 am when they just opened. Ordered a Singapore meifun. Didn't realize there were bean sprouts. Had about 6 shrimps in my noodles? Delicious. Customer service could be better, you can tell when someone's spirit has left their bod and they dread their job.

We have been to Urban Hawker a few times abd I always had a good to place with the White Beehoon with Chicken. I recently found out last weekend the store closed down, and looked over at Prawnaholics Collections to find my favorite food when I visit Urban Hawker.

2. Singapore Char Kway Teow

So the Singapore Char Kway Teow is a dish I've never had before. Thankfully it was terrific. A deep carmelized soy taste was good but not overwhelming. Lots of noodles and some shrimp, it was just the right place for lunch. It was cooked to order which is great as too many food court places just precook their dishes. Not here. It was pretty quick too and the price is right. Enjoyed it a lot

Prawnaholic has all of my favorite Singaporean dishes: from char kway teow to chai tow kuay. All the food is made authentically, I can see all the woks in the kitchen. The Chai Tow Kuay (stir-fried carrot cake) was my dad's favorite childhood dish, which he hasn't had in 26 years. This brought back old memories and made him nostalgic. The flavors were savory, and this cuisine is not common in the US. I was quite disappointed by the Chili Crab, however, when we got very little crab meat, and too much sauce. We basically paid 40 bucks for hot and sour soup with crab flakes :( A 4 star review is very generous.

4. Fried Oyster Omelet

Authentic Singaporean food stall in Urban Hawker food court. The food is cooked fresh and piping hot. The service is efficient. The oyster omelette is an acquired taste with greasy oyster meat that is naturally salty with cilantro and fried omelette. The ambiance is fine literally and figuratively as there is a fun display showing all the things you can get fined for in Singapore.

Had the Singaporean Hokkien seafood noodles for my second time here. It was extremely salty and too much garlic. I had to drink lots of water afterwards. Sadly, not worth my $20. The cashier took my order but nothing spectacular with her service. Don't expect much from the food court atmosphere though. Will not come back.

5. Dry Signature Torched Sesame Pork Rib Noodle

Great spot at Urban Hawker. The sesame pork rib noodles had the perfect balance of sesame, peanut sauce, and a touch of spice. Amazing dish, highly recommend.

Upon seeing Fried Oyster Omelette in New York, I was immensely impressed with this stall. Although this is a Singapore signature dish, it's rarely in the menu, not to mention in New York! It's cooked so well too. It's surprisingly authentic! When traveling away from Vancouver, Canada, I never attempt to order Chinese or Asian as it almost always is disappointing. But boy am I impressed with this place. I highly recommend this. Kudos to you!

One of them hit up Prawnaholic. I believe he ordered the items above. The char kway teow was delish! Like a super flavorful version of one of my favorite canto dishes, beef chow fun dry style. I thought the hokkien mee was okay. I'm not a huge wet noodle fan, so this wasn't really up my alley. Tho if you like seafood noodles, you'll probably enjoy this. Great place to grab some noodles. Fairly quiet night at Urban Hawker. I ordered the Char Kway Teow and the oyster omelet. These seem to be the most popular and were recommended in The NY Times article they have posted. Most dishes, including these, are $18. They are made to order; I probably waited about 10 minutes or so. I liked the noodles in the char kway teow. I wasn't a fan of the Chinese sausage in it, too sweet and chewy for me. The omelet was really good but very greasy!!

Food (4/5): We got the Singapore Hokkien Prawn Mee. It was pretty good although there some chunks of fatty meat that were a bit odd. The shrimp was fresh and delicious though. Only issue is that for the portions and quality it's a bit overpriced. Somewhat understandable for the location though. Service (4/5): The food took a bit to come out but overall still decent service. The food came out at an ok speed. The staff were helpful when asked but not particularly. Ambiance (4/5): It's part of the Urban Hawker food court. Tons of southeast Asian food options. There is lots of seats but because there are tons of people it's hard to find some.

Once you're at your assigned cubbyhole, you can hang your coat up on the wall behind you and fill up your water cup at the machine also behind you. You don't even see the face of the person who brings out the ramen which gives the whole process a mysterious bank teller vibe. With all this, the classic tonkotsu ramen ($23) with slender noodles nearly gets overshadowed, but don't fret since it's fantastic. I believe when you're done, you just get up and leave. Surprisingly, one of the instructional posters does not go into this.

When you walk into the restaurant, you pre-order at the touchscreen to the right of the entrance and later when you're seated you give the order receipts to the server at your window. The food at this location is obviously going to be pricier than it is in Japan (came out to around $60 for 2 people), but it is SO worth it as you can't get Ichiran anywhere else besides in Japan.

The waitress didn't help us at all when ordering. We weren't bowled over with the food, although it was noted the meat in the ramen was high level. It hit the spot but I will try other places in the search for our "return forever" ramen place.

For starters we had the edamame and pork buns. The edamame was wonderfully garlicky, and the pork buns were simply bite sized pieces of joy between two doughy pillows. As a main meal, I ordered the Karaka Spicy ramen. It had the perfect amount of spice, and extra noodles were complimentary. I had mine with a poached egg, which blended in seamlessly with all the savory textures and flavors. While the bowl seemed almost overwhelmingly large, it was easy to enjoy in full because of how delicious it was. I've had a fair share of ramen dishes, and IPPUDO is right up there with the best.
